Could someone write an idiots guide for using the USBUIRT to control an external cable box?

1)Do I have to have Girder to do this at this time?(I know Jeff has added native USBUIRT IR recieve support in 1.4.3)
2)If yes could someone tell me the general way to set all this up?
3)Should I just wait?(Does anyone know if Jeff plans to add native IR transmit support for the USBUIRT similiar to the Actisys IR-200L)

Please help.:)

General info:
I have my USBUIRT all setup and I'm using it to control SageTV fine. It's the next step of controlling my external digital cable box from SageTV that has me stuck. I have my PVR250 setup to tune my analog cable channels thru the PVR's tuner. I have my digital cable channels setup to use the PVR250's composite input. Of course my analog channels work fine, and I can see the digital cable box's signal when I select one of the digital channels. It's just that it always shows the same channel since SageTV has no way to tell the cable box to change to the right channel.

Our ultimate goal is to eventually add native support for the USB-UIRT like the IR-200L.

Great! :D
Thanks for the fast response.:)
Do you think it might make it into the next official(nonbeta)release?
