View Full Version : Still getting 100%CPU usage with 1.45

Although I have not lost another Wiz file yet After several hours I start running 100%CPU usage with no other applications running. When I first start Sage it runs between 25- 35 % usage. The only way I notice it is that menu interactions slow down, picture stays good. The only way to clear it is reboot, restarting Sage does not help.

Where's the log file trevorst? It's the sagetv_o.txt file in your SageTV directory.

Can you zip the file to a smaller size that will work?

As long as it got sent to Jeff, that's all that matters. Thanks trevorst.

Are you using multiple tuners? You can also email the log file to support@freytechnologies.com

Just installed 1.4.5 - 1st time I tried to watch a channel. it pegged out at 95%+

I'm running on an EPIA M9000 with a PVR250.

Log file (should be) attached...

I have a Creative card still in the system but do not have it activated. All I am using is the PVR250.
Also had another episode of 100% cpu usage tonight.

rrussell,
You're getting 95% usage because you probably don't have MPEG2 hardware acceleration enabled. Check out my thread "easy performance increase for hauppauge users" and give that a try.

trevorst,
1.4.7 (out Monday) resolves all known instances for the 100% CPU bug (and a known instance means someone sent me a log file, or I acknowledged that I read their log file posted on the forums). If you send me a log file, I can verify that the bug you're encountering is fixed for 1.4.7.

So where do I find the registery keys to change..

"Just change these registry settings to 1 while SageTV is asleep or you're not watching video in SageRecorder, or they both are shutdown:
HKLM\Software\Intervideo\Custom\Hauppauge\VideoDec
\Dxva
HKLM\Software\Intervideo\Custom\Hauppauge\VideoDec
\Hwmc "

I have used regedit to search the registery and can not fint these entries. ????

Have you installed the MPEG2 software decoders from Hauppauge? You can download them from their website. Those keys should be there if you've installed them.

Just loaded the latest video encoders still do not find the line in the registery you refer to. Please be more descriptive in your instructions.

In the latest driver from Hauppague the key is called: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IviSDK4Hauppauge
Under that key you will find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IviSDK4Hauppauge\Common\VideoDec
Now change the settings referenced above. Hope this helps.

Thanks found the keys and changed them. CPU usage when things are running normal dropped from 30 - 35 % to 10 -15 %. Like you said 1 50% reduction, now let's hope it fixes the occasional 100% CPU problems.

Hiya -

Nope, I'd already done that tweak - unless some install or another spontaneously undid it.

But, the point is moot since I have to reinstall the OS.

I'll try 1.4.7 and see how it goes though (I am a glutton for punishment ;-)
