My current setup is as follows:

Hauppauge PVR-250, and

GF4 ti4200 with VGA to monitor and DVI to JVC AV48WP30 (16:9
48" RPTV)

I have the nVidia nView software set to clone the display and set the secondary display overlay in full screen. This enables me to watch anything in overlay mode (i.e. Windows Media Player, PowerDVD, etc.) full screen without having to set full screen in that program. I can also use the computer for other things, while my wife can watch a movie (in the background on the PC monitor, but full screen on the TV).

However, when using SageTV, the menu does not appear in the overlay, only moving images. So, if I am in the menus, it shows only a still image of whatever was played last on the TV.

Is it possible that the Sage menus be forced into an Overlay window? Or is that a dumb question because the application graphics are inherently not an overlay?

Also, is there another nView configuration that may serve my purpose better that anyone else has tried??

The Sage menus currently won't be shown on the Overlay surface. This is something that could be done if we required DirectX9. If the demand is there we will definitely consider it.

Let me put in my request, then.

This is not a showstopper for me, but it would be nice to be able to see the menu system on my TV (without having to change the way it is set up using nView, etc.)

Aren't there just a few, very expensive graphics cards that have the necessary support or DirectX9 - or can we get by with our "lowly" ATI 7500's?

As DirextX9 is completely backwards compatible, you should have no trouble running it with your 7500. The 7500 doesn't have the hardware on board to make use of the new directx9 features, but then again, neither does any of the other ATI cards except the 9500 and 9700 (I believe...I could be wrong).
