Was there a new development for recording from it?

Not on the R5000 side, as far as I know. But I was wondering if someone in the Sage camp had developed anything.
All I really want to do (assuming that SageTV 3.0 will play HD files) is be able to schedule recordings using Sage. I am hoping some day in the not too distant future, this becomes possible.

Yes, I agree.
I have emailed the guys at Nextcom about this, and am awaiting a reply. I hope, hope, hope, hope they have some plans to enable their setup as a tuner for apps like MCE and Sage to use.

I am with you on that one. I have asked a number of times, via email and at the AVSForum. Thus far, they have decided not to do anything on their end. Do please post their reply, if you get one.
Thanks!

I emailed the folks that make the R5000 back in April and this is the reply i got about what you're asking:
We did plan on making the R5000-HD into a DirectShow compatible tuner device at some point but we are not sure if/when it will happen. There is a lot of functionality that is streamlined and works quite well right now and we'renot sure if it can be easily duplicated in a tuner driver and run as efficiently.
I doubt the status has changed, it didn't sound like directshow was even close to a high priority.

Yes, the reply I got back said close to the same thing.
They know people want it, but apparently want to focus on their line of apps first.
It's kind of too bad since all it would is one company like this to do what were talking about and it would totally change the way we get HD on our HTPC's today. Screw cableCARD! We'd have it all right here.
