I am using a 16:9 desktop resolution (1280x720). When watching LiveTV or a Recorded Program in full screen mode, will it utilize my entire desktop or, will it be a 4:3 image with black bars on both sides?

Thanks,

Frank T. Lee

We offer the following playback options in both SageTV and SageRecorder:

Aspect Ratio Mode: Fill, Force 4x3, Force 16x9, or Use Source
Horizontal and Vertical Zoom

So the answer is it's up to you how you want to play it back, but you have all the options.

Good News Indeed! So, if I select "fill" as my preference, my TV image will be 1280x720, correct?

Also, since you are using DScaler as your de-interlacer, do you get all of the de-interlacing options available in the stand-alone DScaler program?

Thanks,

Frank T. Lee

Yes for the 1280x720...the options you have for DScaler are Double Refresh Rate, Odd Field First and choice of deinterlacer (DScaler plugins are supported).

Thanks for your interest.

More good news! One more question please. Do you support the StreamZap Remote Control?

Thanks,

Through the use of Girder or the IRMan we do.

ftlee - if you want to watch your tv image in 4:3 in your 16:9 resolution, you can also change the color of the "black bars" on the sides to something else - say a nice neutral gray. Not really so important for your application, but for those of us with a 16:9 television, gray bars are much preferable to black bars on the sides. :)

Narflex (Or, anybody else that can answer my questions),

Bad News on the remote, I think... What remote controls do you support natively?

Thanks,

Frank T. Lee

You should be fine with the StreamZap, check this out:

http://www.streamzap.com/downloads/girder/index.html

There's already the SageTV plugin available on the Girder website. So you just need to download Girder, the StreamZap plugin and the SageTV plugin and you're all set to go!

Natively (by that I mean direct communication with the hardware) we support the Provideo256 & the Creative VideoBlaster DVCR remote controls. The Hauppauge remote controls are supported by the Sage installer autoconfiguring Hauppauge's IR software to interact with SageTV.

We also support anything Girder supports (which is a HUGE list) through the technique I describe above.

Any more questions, let me know.
