Missing Menu's in TV display

I just installed SageTV demo to give it a try. Most of it is working. I can record, watch recorded programs, and watch live TV on both my computer and connected TV set. The problem is that I only see the menu's on the TV set when I first start up SageTV (the entire PC screen is visible). As soon as I start displaying any video (live or recorded), I am unable to see the menu's on the TV, even though they appear without any problems on my computer monitor. I have a Hauppage PVR-250 and a Radeon 9200 display. Am I expecting too much from SageTV, or missing a configuration option?

Is this the result of some sort of video card driver setting, where it switches to showing only the video overlay once it starts playing?

I can't tell if this is a special setting, or just the normal mode of operation. Before starting up SageTV or the Hauppage WinTV2000, the entire computer monitor screen is displayed on the TV. As soon as the card is switched into TV display mode, only the video stream is displayed.
