View Full Version : SageTVClient Crash on 4.9RC2
08-22-2003, 10:42 AM
I upgraded SageTV and SageTVClient to 1.4.9RC2.
I have 3 tuners.
From SageTVClient I selected 2 shows to record from the guide.
Then I started to change channels while in live tv mode and when I reached one of the channels and SageTVClient Exited.
I started it again and it reconnected and I went to to the guide and selected the show that it crashed on and when I went to location where it crashed there was a brief audio dropout.
I tried surfing channels again this time it crashed when I got to the other channel that was recording and it crashed the same way.
Any one else see this problem?

Sorry I forgot to save off the sageclient log before starting the client...I have run it 5 times so I don't have even have it on sageclient3.log. I will try and reproduce it and post logs.

OK got the client to crash again... this one was not a show being recorded. I use InterVideo Decoders.

It looks like you've got your video directories setup as subdirectories of your library import directories. Change it so that's not the case. Sage can get confused if you overlap the video & library directories.
Let me know if that resolves it, if not, post the new logs and I'll see what the cause is (but that directory overlap looks very suspicious)

I used to have problems with the errant directory that is why I had them overlapped.
I will give it a try.

Errant files now will get automatically imported into the Video Library. So you'll still get the desired functionality after you make the change. :)

well that didn't seem to fix it. I think that the problem was my decoders.
I cleaned out all the Hauppage Intervideo stuff.
I resinstalled Intervideo DVD 4 and it played files fine.
Then I setup SageTVClient to Use Intervideo Video and Intervideo Audio.
When I try to watch anyhthing I get an MPEG2 audio error.
The only way I have been able get it to play is to use the InterVideo Video Decoder
and the Nvidia Audio Decoder.
Any idea why the InterVideo Audio decoder won't work?

Ok. I figured out two problems.
1. All the mess of Nvidia, Intervideo, noncss Intervideo, X-Card.
After removing all the codecs except the Intervideo InnterDVD4
and setting SageClient to Use the intervideo codec for video and using
default for Audio, still won't work with intervideo audio no more crashes.
2. Nvidia codecs only use hardware acceleration when full screen overlay is
on which gets rid of the OSD which is as bad as using my Xcard.
