I just recently bought the oem version. I was wondering how do you configure plugins and other functionality without a gui. is there a way to locally change and do updates of drivers . I love the linux box it really enhances the picture and reception, but I would to multitask if the system is not in operation. I would appreciate any linux guru to explain how to use kde along sage linux media server locally.
thanks a great deal

You can find some information at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/kde-config.xml
The current SageTV linux user interface layer doesn't have any easy way to switch out but you could put it in a secondary desktop inside kde.

just a quick question....
You say it enhances the pic and quality...
What do you mean? For playback or recording?
I'm thinking of rying it out but not too sure yet.
Thanks

Both It enhances the picture qualtiy and playback tremendously. I have a poor cable conection, and I am being honest the Linux version took a crappy conection and made it ook close to a digital hi def. they have some good filters in the software, but be aware the linux oem takes your computer and turns it into a dedicated server. :)

It's been a while, but.
"man runlevel".
Try to get another console ALT-F2 (or higher), depends which one is currently being used. Then you could try to fire up 'xdm &'. Just to see if it's there :)
This should give you a graphic login screen. Do you know the password for 'root'?
Then 'man kde' to learn how to configure KDE as the window manager (once you have it installed).
