I don't recall there being an announcement to that effect :(

There will be an extender/placeshifter like client with the V5 release. It will have the following dependencies:

Java 1.5
Xorg
Alsa
freetype
libmad
libz

It should work on any video card supporting overlay with color keying in Xorg.
