I have recently downloaded SAGE TV 4.1 to use with my MVP extender. I have been using the MVP with WinTV 250 and all works good using the gui that comes from Hauppauge. but I like the looks of SAGE TV better.
All setup on SAGE went ok. I have sage media server enabled. I was told that I must uninstall the Hauppauge MVP software or disable it. Also, to unplug the MVP and then replug so it would reboot and find SAGE. I did all of this, but MVP still appears as the interface on the TV set and continues to try to boot to ???

I have been to the intruction manual and redid all., but..? Help

You need to uninstall and reboot the PC. Also leave it powered off for 5 minutes then plug it back in.

Big Gerr,
thanks for the help.
I want to be clear on what to do.
If you mean uninstall the Hauppauge MVP software and then unplug the MVP and then replug to let it reboot, I did that twice, but no go.
Originally, I installed the WinTv 250, and the Hauppauge MVP with the software packaged with it. Do you mean unistall the WinTV software from my pc beside the MVP software and then reboot both?
thanks again

No. If you were still getting the MVP Interface on the MVP to me it means the software was still installed. The Win YV software won't have any effect on the MVP. Now initially you're going to see a blue screen that is the Hauppague boot screen saying checking ethernet, getting dhcp server, booting Mediamvp server-taht's normal. Eventually you should see a Sage screen that says booting. Give it time. Make sure yo have a DHCP server on your network.

Still in trouble! When I was using the MVP extender with it's software and the WintTV 250, it played out to the tv perfectly. I want to use sage tv because like most of you, think it is a nicer GUI. I have uninstalled the Hauppauge MVP software, enabled the sage tv server and media extender in the setup.
Yet the MVP continues to cycle thru the bootserver, searching for DHCP server etc. I can play my media files on the computer with SAGE but it won't connect to the MVP. I have purchased and installed SAGETV and SAGE exender. Am I missing something from SAGE? Someone told me that I should make sure I have a DHCP server. I would assume so. After all it works with the Hauppauge MVP software installed. Is there something different with the SAGE software. Where is the DHCP. If I don't have it, where do I get it?
thanks, kenr

DHCP is generally run from your router.. if it is turned on... what kind of router do you have?

What version of SageTV are you using?
