installed on a P4 1.8, PVR-150 and Nvida Graphics. Setup went fine but there is no video or audio on all channels. Using the tuner for basic cable. No set top box. Also the DVD sais there is no media in the drive when there is. I am using v4.1.5

I did a fresh install with 4.1.6 and ended up with the same problem. On the initial setup for the tuner card I was getting a no signal message. After a reboot I no longer get the no signal message. I noticed that if I leave the selected channel playing (just black with no sound) for awhile, the EPG will appear automaticly.

Intel P4 1.8 Ghz, 512 RAM, onboard audio AC'97 2CH, Nvidia GeForce MX440 128MB, Tested on an old 4.6GB seagate drive which runs at 5400RPM's. Mainboard is built by ASUS for SONY. Oh, and a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 (26032 rev C182).

That setup should work OK -- have you tried playing any video files aside from DVDs? I don't think DVD support is quite there yet, but judging from playing all my MP4 files it seems to be coming soon.

OK, I can see but not hear divx files. Pictures work and music says it's playing but I hear nothing. I guess I'll start with trying to fix the audio. I did set all the volumes up to 80% in the initial setup. Is there a way to configure sound through SSH?

You can run the same mixer from the command line: "alsamixer"

I fixed the audio with ssh and the command #alsamixer -c 0 Although, when I unmuted the correct channels in the mixer, SageTV had the volume all the way down. Now I just need to fix the TV tuner problem.

Hopefully you don't have a weak signal, I've noticed that it's quite finicky with a weaker signal. Good luck!

So far this machine has successfully run MythTV, MCE 2005, and SageTV v4(WindowsXP)... It does keep saying no signal with this last install but why do all the others work? The cable line is split once after entry so I'll un-split it and see what happens.

So I have a very similar computer setup. I have the 350 model of the video capture card. Otherwize I have the same system as the other guy who has no audio or video.
When I try to vieo a video I get an all black screen (except menues,...). Do you get this?
I tried to get input from a dvd player through the svideo port. Big surprise! when I configure Sage to use input 3 (Tv Tuner) it actually get's the input from the S-Video input, The s-Video input does not work.
I think the problem mught be that the input source is input number 4 or 5 and the configuration menu thinks there are only 3.
Anybody got any ideas?

I have a similar config including the PVR-350 card and I'm using the 350's Tv-out S-Video. If I leave SageTV running for more than 2 days, I get "No signal" and have to reboot the box. Rebooting causes everything to work fine again until the TV is "on" for about 2 days.
Very, very frustrating...

...by the way -- this same box ran BeyondTV for 14 days straight with no issue, and ran mythTV for that last 6 months with no issue. Granted, I've had an OS change since the mythtv run, but the hardware is solid.
Would love thoughts or suggestions...

It's definately something to do with the inputs of the card which makes me think it's a driver issue or ivtv and the 2.6 kernel. I can watch and hear everything except for any input on the card. I kinda gave up on it for awhile to see if updates fix it down the road.:confused:

Check to see if the correct firmware is being loaded for your tuner card.

How do I check the loading of the firmware? remember that the card works fine for SageTV for Windows, MythTV, MCE 2005, and so on.

I installed MythTV along side of SageTV and find that MythTV works fine. Although now, I cant get SageTV to start properly. I get a black screen after the splash/loading screen. Here is the log for that too.

This is caused by a problem loading the rendering system. Did you change anything to the video card configuration?

This error only occured after the installation of MythTV. I had installed it to try and isolate the original problem. What and where is the rendering system? I had made no changes other than installing MythTV and It's dependancies.

If you have installed using mode 2 the rendering system uses opengl. You could try to run glxgears and glxinfo to see if they can still run fine.

glxgears and glxinfo work with SageTV. They will not after MythTV is installed.

There must some conflict with the nvidia drivers.

I tested ivtv with ivtv-ptune and got the exact same result. This makes me think it's a problem with ivtv. Can I just remerge ivtv or nvidia to a different version for further testing? I see all the shared objects in the /opt/sagetv/app directory which really confuses me. I'm not sure how all this works together and where everything is installed to.

I think I got it! here is what I did.
# rmmod ivtv
# modprobe ivtv tuner=57
# echo ivtv tuner=57 >> /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6
# ptune.pl --input /dev/video0 -c 2
# cat /dev/video0 > /var/media/videos/vid0.mpg
ctrl+c to quit
Now the created file shows the video it recorded. How do I get SageTV to do this too?

You could try to replace the modprobe in /opt/sagetv/app/startsage by adding the tuner= argument.

ok, the modprobe thingy did not change much but I did get a signal from the component input when choosing inputs in the SageTV setup. I am unable to test s-video at the moment and the tuner is still black. I tried to test the inputs with ivtvctl but the command was not found. Do I have to recompile or reinstall ivtv? When trying to emerge nividia-kernel or ivtv I get an error "Could not find usable .config in the kernel source directory".

You can find the kernel config file in another thread. One thing you could try is compare the output of dmesg between the two versions to see if it detects the tuner properly.
