As Jeff has now publicly posted the java code to allow SageTV to control the hipix HD card, I wanted to give you some tips from what I learned when I was doing the testing on this a few months back.

First, it's not complete. This is not yet ready for prime time, and as such, if you use this, I'd HIGHLY SUGGEST backing up current copies of your properties file and WIZ files. I can guarentee that you will be blowing them away at some point in this process and I don't want you to lose any of your data. Also, I only tested with SageTV using the hipix. During the testing phase, I uninstalled my PVR350 card, so SageTV had only the hipix as a choice to use. I have no idea how this will work with an NTSC capture card also installed and configured. It'll probably be fine, but I can't say one way or the other.

To map your digital channels into SageTV and have them be recognized by the hipix, you have to choose the local antenna option (or something like that) when setting up the hipix card in SageTV. That will give you a list of your analog channels. You then need to remap those channels to your digital channels. For example, in Denver my local ABC station is channel 7, and the digital channel is channel 17. Once you have the channels remapped, exit SageTV and edit your properties file. You will need to change the format of your remapped channels. If you mapped channel 7 to channel 17, you will need to edit the 17 to 17.1 to indicate subchannel 1. The ".1" (or other subchannel if applicable) must be added for all of your digital channels, otherwise the hipix doesn't like it.

Once that's done, you should have limited control of the hipix through SageTV. I'd suggest once you get your channels remapped successfully, make a copy of your properties file at that point.

Now if only the hipix card were still available for sale... *sigh*

Well,

You guys are good.

First, it works fine with a NTSC capture card sitting next to it.

I got it working on the first try....

I see exactly what you are talking about with the name problem. I'll just create a service script that will combine all of the .ts files into 1 master file which is the same name as the directory, then delete the directory - this should allow sagetv to find the file properly. I'll report on my results.

I did get this working. Let me know if anyone wants my scripts.

So do you have full functionality with the HiPix card and SageTV now?

Would the HiPix features be available in the SageTV trial version. I currently don't own Sage, but do have a HiPix and would like to try this.

Dan,

There are no limitations between our trial software and the full version other than the 15-day limit. Just make sure you use the patch we released on the forums after you install SageTV.

Sounds great, can't wait to try it.

OK, I downloaded and installed Sage 1.4 but can't seem to find the patch you are referring to. Can someone provide a link?

Thanks,

Dan.
