Hey folks.... I got my Zoomplayer settings screwed up and so I uninstalled Sonic Cineplayer in order to start troubleshooting.... well as result SageTV did work because I was using the Sonic video decoder.

So, I switched over to PowerDVDs decoder.... and guess what?

It looked a LOT smoother. I have no complaints watching NFL football with this decoder, whereas I would probably have switched to direct cable if I'd still had the level of quality that I was getting out of Sonic.

In a word, it's the panning. Much more smooth. If you have PowerDVD or just the Cyberlink filter, give it a try! Oh, I'm using v4.

Stuart

I think everyone here agrees (judging from other posts) that the powerdvd codec is better. It seems that it causes lockups for a lot of people though.

Oh, I see! I guess I can be counted among the lucky, then.

Sorry for the noise.... so people have tried Cyberlink, Sonic, Intervideo and Elecard and concluded that Cyberlink is the best? Can the Dscaler plugin be made to work with Cyberlink if that is the case?

I have not tried a newer Cyberlink decoder. The last I tried at 3.0. I will have to try the new one.

So far the best one for me (visual and performance) has been the Intervideo.

Thanks!

How about NVDVD 2.55? I've heard good things about their decoder and DVD playback looks pretty good so far (on my monitor). Anyone tried using the NVIDIA decoder with Sage?

I did a little searching after seeing falchulk's comment and yes, it appears many people like NVIDIA as well. I'm going to try running the PowerDVD output pin into the Dscaler input pin in the sage.properties file and see if that works. I don't own the NVIDIA filter and, having purchased 4 different filters already, I may be a tough sell.
