Hi there, I'm trying to use Sage recorder (latest version) with latest drivers for my WinTV PVR 250 card. Currently running Windows XP on an Athlon Xp 2200 processor, 512 Megs of DDR don't recall the speed think it's 2700 kingston memory. Nice 8x AGP card Ge Force 4 Ti 4200 8x. I was hoping I could run my xbox through the line in on the Win TV card. Unfortunately there appears to be a lag of what is going on in the xbox and what is showing on the screen. The lag is from 5 to 10 secs. Is there anything that can be done to eliminate this or is what I'm simply trying to do not possible? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately, what you're trying to do just won't work very well. There's some latency involved in capturing the signal, compressing it, saving it as mpeg, opening that mpeg and playing it back. Normally this isn't a big deal, but with game systems, where timing and response to the video is crucial, it will cause big problems.

If all you want is to be able to record your gameplay, you could split the output of the xbox to go into both the PVR-250 and the TV directly.

I also have a WinTV PVR 250 card and have been trying to use my PlayStation 2... can this time lag be overcome with a different application from SageTV, or is inherent to the card? Thanks!

The problem is inherent in the process (encode/decode). The best that I have seen is about 2 seconds of lag. The only way to get around this is if the card has a pass through mode, but then you are not recording anything.
