I ordered a MVP from Sage awhile back while they were backordered. Finally got it around a month ago. As stated in the paper that came with the set I upgraded to the newer version of SageTV. My other older MVP's worked as advertised but the new on from sage would not find the "server". Even installed the box on the same connection as one of the older one's....still nothing.

So I upgraded to version 5 tonight, still nothing. The newer MVP still not finding video server, but my older two MVP's working just perfectly. Any ideas?

My sage box is only a sage box and only has WinXP, Sage, and Adobe Acrobat on it....that's it. I did upgrade to DirectX ver9c tonight also.....

Did you enter the extender license?

Yes, I checked and Sage says I have 3 valid MVP licenses.

Here's a little more info. I checked to see if the sage service was running by using the run command and typing in services.msc. It was not. Tried to start it and got error message. Restarted computer and SageTV ver5 started configuration menu and wizzard. From here I started the services for MVP's and placeshifter. Restarted computer again. I could have sworn I told sage to start automatically, however it didn't, so I just double clicked on the icon and away we go. All three MVP's now find the server and seem to be waiting for a response....got the Media Center Booting, please wait message now. The newer one did finally find the video server, told me it's IP address and all that stuff, different from the earlier models. All three still stuck on the Media Center Booting screen.

Any ideas out there? I did notice that the sageTV service in the standard tab was started, automatic, and Logged on for "local system"......shouldn't it be a "network service"?

Now go around and unplug the AC adapter from all of them and let them sit for 5 minutes or so. Then go around and plug the AC adapter back in and see if that helps.

Actually, shut everything down, brought up router, then the sagetv computer. Had to start sage manually again....no automatic startup at login....same result. All three stuck at the Starting Media Center.

Try deleting the 'clients' subdirectory within the SageTV folder. That may fix it.

First deleted the contents of the clients folder, restarted computer nothing, then rebooted the whole LAN, same result......Media Center Booting. Then deleted the actual clients subdirectory of SageTV and restarted computer, made sure via the SageTVServiceControl.exe that everything was on and it was, and again, set to local user. Still getting the Media Center Booting.

I know I must have missed something easily seen but I just can't find it right now. Again, my 2 MVP ver1.0's worked spectacularly under v4.1. Since getting that MVP ver2.04 that you guys sent I have had my trouble.

Any other ideas, or is anyone working on this since it seems to be troubling a number of us. Believe me, I totally understand what you guys are up against with writing code for or should I say against Windows. Is it time to fire a request for support?

One last add on. Like a previous post, I started and stopped the services with no results. Also, once I deleted the clients subfolder, it never came back.

Additionally, after all the above, I restarted computer again, this time the Sage TV Service State was stuck on Starting until I hit refresh then it advanced to Started. I believe this is where my problems are but have no idea of where to go.

I believe you need to be at least to the 4.1.11 beta level to support the most current MVP. You should probably just go to the Version 5 release of Sage TV. See this post (http://forums.freytechnologies.com/forums/showthread.php?p=148914&postcount=34) for more information.

I'm sorry when I saw this I thought you were on the latest version. But now I see in your Signature you're on a version of 4.0. Upgrade to the latest production version, 5.0.2 and try this again.
