Hi all...
Is SageMC suitable for 4x3 format ? I am setting it up on a small 34cm TV for my bedroom..
thanks
Yup, SageMC will run in 4x3. I used it that way for a year until I got my new HDTV.

Hi! I'm wondering if it is possible to move from a movie to the next in the movie detail screen. Maybe have next and previous buttons or using a remote command.
Nevermind...Once I typed the word remote, I decided to press buttons to see what happens. It appears the Skip Fwd/Bkwd buttons do that!
I see it works in Music for view by album, but not for view by artist. Is that something that could be changed?
Thanks!
Well, I just checked, and it also works in the album detail view by artist. If you select an artist who has 5 albums, it will cycle through those 5 albums. This is the intended behavior, and cannot easily be changed...

Sorry in advance if I missed this earlier in the thread, but at some point my SageMC started freaking out if I hit play on my remote during dvd playback. I have to use the "info" button on my Harmony to pull up the timebar, but that also pulls up the big info box at the top. I used to be able to hit play during playback and the timebar would pop up for a few seconds. Now when I hit play it seems to randomly jump to some previous portion of the movie and play from there. This isn't a problem if the movie's paused - it works properly and just starts playing again like it should. But if it's in the middle of playing and I hit play, it will jump to another part of the movie.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Hmm, not really. Hitting "Play" while a movie is playing pops up the timebar for me, and works without problems...

I've not tried this yet, but what would be the equivalent dir on linux? /opt/SageTV/Server?
Thanks.
It should be the directory where the SageTV executable is in, but since I don't know anything about the Linux version this is just a guess...

Hmm, can't really see anything out of the normal, except those two FlacDecoder exceptions. Can you test if you get the same exceptions with the working default STV too ?
Dirk
Not sure if this helps diagnose a little more, but I switched off Dynamic Menus and enabled the My Music Files screen. My Music Files shows album art and allows me to play MP3's fine, however I still cannot play anything or see album art through "My Music".
Still works fine in the default STV. I also tried reinstalling the 6.32c full package, and unfortunately, that did not help.
Thanks!

I had the same problems, but I remapped the buttons to use back/fwd#2 instead of smooth back/fwd, it works really the best on the MVP...

Is there a trick to get sound to work? I enabled it in the SageMC options. I even made sure the sound files are in "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE\Sounds" folder. I'm using the iTV theme.

1) Is there still a way to enable "unsupported extras" or is all that included now?
2) I used to see space used for 'each' individual recording in addition to the overall disk usage bar which I still see. How do I get the space used for each individual recording to come back?
3) How do I get pictures next to each menu item now that I have customized the menu?
I am using the latest SageMC 6.3.2c on SageTV v6.1.9.135

Working on a on my own SageMC theme, I came across a few visual anomolies.
A) With the logo headings at the top of the menus, a few of them have the text that should be displayed in front of the image, actually placed behind the heading image. These menus are:
My TV > Guide
My TV > Movies
My TV > Schedule
My TV > Recorded TV > Schedule
B) The music_logo image does not fly in animated like the rest of them do.
C) The weather_logo image is displayed smaller than the rest of the images... not a big deal, just something I noticed.

Would it be possible to add in the (MC) options menu an option to enable/disable logging. This would than update the properties files (for both service and client)?
It would still require to start/stop sage completely, but would take away the hassle of updating the properties manually.
Minor thing, but would make it easier.

Hi Dirk. I desperately need to have one feature added. Currently, if you set external player for video, it affects all the import types under videos that the seeker finds. I really need to be able to define to not use the external player, but for certain video types (file extensions in the seeker) it WILL use an external player. It would even be better if I could specify what file to use for that file type. What are the chances to get this as I REALLY need it? :)

Hi Madcoder,
I guess it's your lucky day ! :D
I checked the code, and mlbdude must have foreseen this need - there is already an undocumented property in place which achieves exactly what you want:
set e.g.
mlbdude/limit_external_to_extensions=aviand the external video player will only be called for *.avi files. The value can contain multiple extensions, e.g. avi;wmv

No, the unsuppported extras are built into the default UI as some added features.
However, many/most of those unsupported extras are based off of other modifications and many of those extras are included in SageMC. What extras are you wanting in SAgeMC that you don't have? They may already be there, or can be added with an import.

Your instructions are what I did (sort-of). I clicked on My TV > Movies > Genres.
I may be misunderstanding the purpose for which Genre icons were created. I do not have any personal videos or a screen called "my videos". I have a "Movies" selection, forth down on the left hand side of the "My TV" screen. When I go there, I click on Genres where I see choices like 'action', 'adventure', 'comedy'. It is those choices that I was under the impression, would have genre icons next to them?

No, that is a list of genres to filter the browsing of upcoming movies. The genre icons are used for your personal video library (videos/movies stored on your hard drive or on DVD via DVD Profiler). This is the only place where the genre icons are presently used.

Cool. It appears that SageMC has malore's .smi CC support in it, and JREkiwi has updated the .smil CC parsing in the code. I'd hope that it would just be a matter of updating the .smi CC parsing code in SageMC to the latest build.
And hopefully the same code that SageMC already has that detects .smi files in recordings and automatically adds a "closed captioning" option to the options menu, could be added to the imports.
Oh, and if I was still begging for more, the auto-CC on mute would be great too, but I won't be greedy:D

I've been setting most of my favorites to start and end a minute early, because it seems like all of my shows end up starting about 30 seconds before whatever time Sage uses as the "official" start time.
Anyway, I've always been a little upset that you can't "see" that pre-minute on the timeline - you have to manually try to hit rewind to check if it's go to negative time. I assumed this was just the way it had to be. But then I checked the standard STV and saw that it clearly shows that extra minute, as well as a little line in the timeline to show where the "real" beginning of the show was. Is it possible to somehow incorporate this into SageMC?

This may not be a STV specific issue, but I don't *think* I've noticed it the few times I've used the stock STV. If I'm wrong, I'll re-post in the correct place...
When I try to start watching a show that's already started recording but hasn't finished yet, often (if not all the time), the timebar shows that it's starting playback from the 0:00 mark, but the actual content being shown is from whatever the current time is. Hitting rew jumps it back to the very beginning of the recording. This can be:
1) confusing, if it's on a commercial for instance and when it comes back I think it's at the beginning of the show, when in reality I'm watching at the half way point.
2) angering, if it happens during a live sporting event. I start watching, expecting to start from the beginning and instead the first thing that pops up is the winner of the game celebrating.
By the way, this is happening when I select to watch the show through the recordings menu, not when I hit Live tv or select it from the guide or anything like that.

After a few searches, I'm quite shocked. Is there really no way to play a trailer for a movie in my videos? Seems like it would be easy and popular. Select a movie, if a trailer exists, show a menu choice of Play Trailer. Am I missing something? If not, can we get this?

One more question about my videos. I didn't really like the way DVD profiler worked, so I started over. I have my movies in their own folder along with a jpg for the movie poster. This showed up fine, but I also wanted more text info. So, I used the IMDB search and that worked fine.
Except...now is the image that shows up is no longer the one in the folder with the movie, but the one from IMDB. Can I change this? Some of their images are just pics of the dvd case, not the movie poster.
Thanks!

Never heard of that request before. Are you wanting to play a trailer that you have saved on your HD, or to download the trailer off the internet?
If you have the trailer saved, then maybe just set up a sub-folder with the movie and any icons, captions or trailer in it, and then when you browse into it you would see the trailer and movie there. Just play the trailer.

When you do a IMDB save, it saves the IMDB image as movietitle.jpg (movietitle being the name of the matching video file) and will overwite any exising file. If you copy back an alternate image over the IMDB image, you'll get the old pics back. It may take a reload of Sage for the image cache to reload the "correct" image

I have them already on the HD, but downloading missing ones (like the movie trailer plugin) would be good, too. It sounds like, doing it like you suggested, I would need to view the movies by file system, not by genre. That wouldn't be ideal. Seems like the movie detail page could check if a trailer exists and display a Play Trailer button along the left hand side. Optionally, it could offer a download option, but doing that outside of the interface is fine, too.

Well, that's easy enough to fix then. In the future, I'll just need to get IMDB data before getting the poster image. Then, I can overwrite the IMDB one instead of the other way around.

I could use some help in a spinning icon/hanging problem I have. I was running a single client/server on one pc, but thought it would be helpful to split those roles up. Now I get a spinning icon when navigating in SageMC or pressing the Fast Forward button a few times while playing a video. I never got this issue when running everything on one PC.
The video plays fine without stuttering, but the buttons are unresponsive during the spinning which lasts 10-30 seconds each time. I have increased the java heap on the client and server, installed Java 1.6 on both and increase the buffer registry hack on both. I tried changing the stv to the default and the problem goes away, but I don't want to give up SageMC. Tried wiping out the sage client and reinstalling fresh including the default java 1.42 and no change. When the spinning occurs, my CPU, memory and network utilization are pretty low according to task manager..
Below is a part of my debug log with the hangs included.

Update: I thought it might be my operating system on my client, so I restored an old image of Windows XP MCE that I had used prior to wiping and reinstalling with XP SP2. I had to install the 6.1.9 client to make it connect to my server. I still noticed the lag with SageMC 6.3.2c, but on this old MCE version I had some older versions of SageMC made for Sagetv 5.x. I switched to an older version of SageMC that identifies itself as "6.6" and the spinning issues have virtually disappeared. I'll keep playing with it to see if any spinning shows up, but it seems that something with the newer SageMC and Sagetv client 6.1.9 don't like each other on my setup. I miss the features added in newer versions, but I can live without them for now if this is a fix for me.
Update 2: The older 5.x SageMC started lagging with the spinning icon too. I wiped out my client machine and reinstalled with Windows 2003. Now it runs very nicely with very little spinning. Hopefully it will stay that way.
Update 3: Updated my client hardware and updated OS to Vista to support my 8500GT a little better. Spinning rarely happens now, which I suspect is due to the clean OS/Sage Client install as well as the improved hardware.

I'm still brand new to using SageMC. I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can...
Don't be afraid to poke around. Trust me, everything is there. It's matter of learning where everything is.
Question #1: I've just installed SageMC but where can I find a guide to the program?
Method 1: If youre talking about the TV Guide, Click on MyTV from the main menu, then on new menu, select Guide (left hand side).
Method 2: Use a sageTV compatible remote control and just press the Guide button.
Method 3: I'm not sure if this will work for you or not, but I just use the right arrow on my remote or keyboard when the MyTV item is highlighted under the main menu. You get a submenu which shows Guide and a bunch of other commonly used items.
Question #2:
I'm not sure about this since I haven't tried, but I know you can select options for compressions for TV "series" also known as favorites under the standard STV. Go from MyTV to Schedule. You will see compression options for each show listed there.
Questions #3:
I dont know what you mean by using "other programs". But, I think you can launch external programs via sageMC's integrated dynamic menus options.. just right click on the menu menu and you will see those options.
-Michael

How do I get the Movie options (ie All Upcoming, HD, etc) to stick? Every time I set it and leave that menu, I have to put it back.
Focus the corresponding button, and bring up the options menu, where you can set the current setting as default.
Edit: Also, are there any windows message codes reserved specifically for SageMC? I'm particularly interested in a message code for MyTV. I'd like to press a button my my remote control and have a windows message tell SageTV to go directly there.Custom1 -> My TV
Custom2 -> Recorded TV
Custom3 -> Movies
(unless you have mapped either of those to different SageMC functionality)

Yes, I have noticed this as well, it is especially annoying when you have extra long recording times such as when recording sports... which I usually have start 15 minutes early to catch some of the pregame commentary, and end 45 minutes late to catch possible overtime or long games.
Another annoyance with the is when checking the schedule, it only shows the length of the program, not the scheduled recording time. The stock STV properly shows how long it will be recording.
After a few searches, I'm quite shocked. Is there really no way to play a trailer for a movie in my videos? Seems like it would be easy and popular. Select a movie, if a trailer exists, show a menu choice of Play Trailer. Am I missing something? If not, can we get this?
This is something i would be VERY interested in. Like the movie theater plugin, being able to download trailers automatically (or manually) would be awesome.

How are people controlling Placeshifter with the SageMC interface? I just tried it and couldnt do much as far as controlling a movie to FF/REW/STOP. I could only pause and play. Dirk would you please consider adding mouse support in the next release of SageMC (ie being able to actually click on the REC/REC conflict icons on top right, etc). You could add this as an option.

I have put my SageTV to start by default 5 minutes earlier, and end 15 minutes later (yep, over here some stations are 'flexible' in sticking to the program). I have to do a FBW before I can start watching some recordings. I guess the idea behind how SageTV works is that it shows the recorded section which should contain the program you recorded, this based on the guide times, and excludes the 'security' parts.
If there would be a switch to select actual or theoretical (as per guide) showing, I would also go for the actual (= show full timeline, including 'security' time)
I do not understand you schedule problem. When I go in the Schedule and have focus on one scheduled recording, I see at bottom the station number and name + start and end time. I do not see the duration however. I included a screenshot. Did I misunderstand your problem maybe?

I relatively knew to SageTV and I'm having a few problems sorting out the com skiping feature so please bear with me.
At present I'm using ShowAnayzer to detect the commercials - well i'm trying to. I've set it up inconjunction with DirMon 2 to automatically process the .mpg file from Sage just as described here:
http://www.dragonglobal.org/forums/showthread.php?t=562
It all seems to work fine and SA out puts a .txt and an .edl file. Using an episode of Friends as an example i get:
.txt file = FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE
and the .edl file = 1797.84 1797.84 0
However when playing back the recording the video just stops as the commercials start and the audio continues. Nor do I get breaks in the timeline as described by other users.
When I use SchoolHouse to check what SA is seeing it locates the start and end of the commercials almost exactly.
Anyone got any ideas? :(

Is there a way to group two video files?
Lets say you have a 2 .avi movies, part 1 and part 2 - how do u group them to play gapless?
Also, is there a way to assign metadata to a folder instead of a file?
Ie, folder Babel contains two file a.avi and b.avi - I'd like the folder to contain info regarding the movie, cover image, etc instead of the individual file.
Thanks

I finally got around to installing the full SageMC 6.3.2c (it was sadly a necessity as a fan failure cooked my PVR system).
Its working very well. I did notice two problems, though:
1. If you make a queue, and shuffle mode is on, it doesn't seem to play every song in the queue. In fact, my queue of 14 songs ended after 2 songs.
2. In the music module, if you change from view by albums to view by artists, it remembers that change for next time (good). If you go into an artist though and change from view by album to view by song, it doesn't (not so good). My music is organized by artist\song instead of by albums, so this just drives me nuts.
Other than those two issues, its working very nicely. Love this STV.

I am not sure if it is just me, but it seems that SageMC will not use the default recording quality for a tuner even if one is not set for that tuner, ie for my pvr-150, I have to set it to "Best", if nothing is selected for that tuner it records at "Great" rather than the default which is "Best".

I'm running SageMC on XP with dual monitors. If I'm using the computer while she is clicking through the SageTV menus, the focus is transferred to SageTV whenever she presses select/enter and not any other buttons. I've tried using TweakUI to tell applications not to lose focus and I've tried to unlink the ENTER keystroke from the select command, but neither of these work. Focus is also lost when the SageTV screen saver appears. I can live with the screen saver causing it to lose focus, but the ENTER keystroke is rather annoying. Any suggestions on this?
Thanks,

I updated My Menu (using latest SageMC), but can not save it. I get an error "Menu file write failed -- see logfile". How is that logfile named and where can it be found?
I also noticed that when saving at another location, I can not enter a name. The browse requires that I select an existing file. Is this normal?

PS: this may be linked to VISTA's UAC, but need first to understand why it does not save (what's the error) before concluding this.

Jan,
If the menu file is being written to c:\program files\sagetv\sagetv\sagemcmenu.xml... it will be protected by UAC. However, you can load the menus from a non protected area.

I believe Dirmon/SA is designed to do just that. I think you have to install nielm's web server to provide access to the metadata. It can then extract the data it needs to filter by favorite, channel, etc. There are no additional settings in SageMC. Just set SA to generate .edl files (or .txt, but .edl is much better) and SageMC will use them automatically. I think geogecko wrote a guide on how to set up Dirmon/SA. That might be a good place to start. HTH

Really ? Crap... Do you have the option "Update Music Queue" in the SageMC options enabled ? If so, disable it and see if fixes it.
I had reports earlier that this option is causing songs to get skipped. Andy pointed out that removing songs from a playlist while it is playing is only safe when shuffle mode is on, so I changed this option to only be in effect while in shuffle mode. Now, if you are getting the same problem also in shuffle mode, even this assumptions doesn't hold true any more. Maybe the behavior changed in the Sage 6.0 core ... ? I might have to ask Andy about this...

Thanks for the info... I use a similar setting (default = DVD Standard play, nothing set for the tuners), and just checked a few recent recordings. And indeed, some have been recorded with 6.4 mbps, and some with only 3.8 mbps ! After I specifically set the higher quality for both tuners, all my shows now seem to get recorded with 6.8 mbps.
I'm not sure if this is SageMC related (I cant imagine there is any specific code for the rec quality in there, but who knows), or if it is a new core issue, I will have to ask around...

I'm not sure if this is SageMC related (I cant imagine there is any specific code for the rec quality in there, but who knows), or if it is a new core issue, I will have to ask around...
Dirk
Yeah, 3.8 mbps is what I was getting, IIRC this seemed to happen with favorites that were set to the record at "default", live TV seemed to record fine at the default setting but a manual recording would only record at defualt, if Itried set it at a lower level it wouldn't stick. Having a setting other than default for the tuner seemed to fix it all, I will try this with the default STV this afternoon.

As far as the Toolbar goes... (MeInMaui forgive me for saying this!) I'm just not too crazy about the way it looks.... just way too big for what I need it for.. even if it rolls up when its not in use. In my humble opion, having the already visible icons usable would be a better solution.... and making the invisible icons on the left visible :)
Maybe down the line... Did you try Mike's menu toolbar ? Also, for now, there are still all the keyboard commands which will always work

Is there any way to get SageMC to group by Catagory. You know, the same way SageTV Webserver does it?? Currently even when I sort by Group, my movies are scattered all over the place.

Have you looked at it recently? I added a new minimal, reduced footprint view that might work for you. (and there are now several backgrounds to choose from)

Interesting, I haven't tried this myself.. If you load a file from a different directory, when you try to save the file it wants to put it back to the Sage program directory? That sounds like an issue to me.
B
I can load files, I did at end created one manually (updated the default one) and it uploaded ok. That's not an issue.
When I however want to use "Save as ..." and 'Browse ..." to select the directory, I do need to select an existing .xml. I do not understand this, I would expect that browsing lets me select the directory, after which I enter the name under which I want it to be saved. That's issue 1.
When I thus create an empty .xml file in a non-UAC protected directory, I can select it but the save give again an error. I assume it did try to save in the selected directory/file. That's issue 2.
The error message tells me to look in the log file, but which log file is it talking about? If I knew that, I could have a look and obtain more info on issue 2 (issue 1 seems a sage issue).

I haven't been able to replicate it in either MC or the standard STV, but I like I said it seemed to be with favorites set to default so I not sure when it is set, when it is scheduled or when the recording starts. WAF with MC is high, so sticking with the default has been difficult. I will see if can replicate in the next couple of days.

My guide covers stations in multiple languages (Flemish, English, German, French, Spanish). If I select under My TV the Movies, and display all, I get all the movies found in the EPG guide (XMLTV).
I would like to only get those movies from specific stations (e.g., I want to exclude those dubbed in German, so exclude the German stations). I do not want to exlucude these stations out of the Guide, as I do look at them at times (just not the movies).
Is there a way to filter the stations included in the Dipslay All Movies?

I think this is the right thread to ask these questions - if not please redirect me!
I'm using SageMC on a new SageTV HTPC setup. There are a couple of things I'm trying to do that I can't figure out how:
1) I renamed all the top level menus (Took out the "My") - however when on the menu page that these point to, I still see the title at the top of that page as "My TV" or whatever. Is there a place to edit these Page Titles?
2) the "Live TV" command (sendmessage 63) doesn't really goto Live TV - it seems like it actually goes to whatever is playing - could be a DVD, or something from the Video Library. I'm looking for a way to program a button on my remote to take me to "Live TV" - ie the TV tuner card, on whatever channel it was on last.

that is the way that the "Live TV" is designed to work. I'd like to work the way you described, but when asked, was told that it built that way in the core.

I'd like to work the way you described, but when asked, was told that it built that way in the core. Are you sure you aren't talking about the TV command instead of the Live TV command? These should be defined in the STV. For example: in the default STV, "TV" is used to toggle between viewing whatever media is playing & the previously viewed menu via the Back command; "Live TV" is used to view live TV, even stopping any other playback to start live TV viewing & jumping to the current time in playback, if needed. I don't remember if there is a default core function for those commands, but it can be changed in the STV if there is. There may be a different purpose for those commands in SageMC; I'm basically saying that you should be able to make those commands do whatever you want via STV code.

Oh, ok. Looks like maybe some new functionality I missed. I was basing my answer on old info I got when I asked about this way back when, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13989&highlight=live , wanting "watch live tv" to take us to live tv even if we were watching a recording. I don't have a V4 manual, so I can't check, did "live tv" sendmessage 63 exist then, instead of just "TV" sendmessage 15?

I've tried both the 15 and 63 messages. They both do different things, but neither quite what I want.
"TV" (15) toggles between the Media Player (whatever it is playing) and the Last menu you were at.
"Live TV" (63) takes you to the Media Player (whatever it is playing).
The only way in SageMC that I can always get to the real Live TV is to goto the home screen, select "My TV", and the select "Live TV"

Hi,
here's a new SageMC version with a couple of new features. I haven't had much time lately for SageMC, and I figured it's better to release a minor update now than letting you wait any longer. Some newer requests made it in, whereas some older did not - but this was simply because they were easy and quick to implement. Some of the older feature requests are still on my To-Do list.
Ok, here are the changes:
complete re-work of Google / YouTube menus, based on the changes in the default STV. You can now link to the internal screens Google Video and YouTube Video via dynamic menus, but the old way (both via Google Video Menu) will still work. I encourage you to change your menu files to point to the new menu screens
added watched icons for imported videos
made the guide info area resizable (interactively, thanks Mike for the introducing this neat concept). Adjusting the size of the episode text / video preview areas was a PITA, but I hope I got it right for most of the configurations out there
made number of artist list rows configurable
added manual recording icon configuration
added setting to enable external screen saver on sleep
added manual search to IMDB options menu for single result IMDB search
added options for IMDB lookup to only save description, cover art, or both
added option to enable/disable debug logging to advanced menu options (but restart is still necessary)
added option to display number of grouped recordings in front of "More" when in grouped view
remember display setting (by album / by song) for artist view
added Mike's code for ticker/weatherbar icon animation
fixed 'Edit Title' dialog
fixed horizontal RSS ticker not updatinghttp://s91885874.onlinehome.us/html/images/sagetv/6_3_3/NewYouTube.jpg
As always, unzip the STV and JAR file into your SageTV directory, and restart the UI. The full install package has not been updated yet, but I hope to get to that soon.
Enjoy,
Dirk

Hi Dirk thanks so much for this update. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but when resizing the guide info area, the preview window does not adjust it's size at all... it stays big... the same size. Also, the channel logo is now microscopic by default and doesnt change size either (in the picture its the tiny little "2" bitmap pic.
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h283/mkanet/guide.jpg
EDIT: Also, one more thing, when you select a YouTube/Google Video catagory like "Top Video Today" or "Top Rated" the fonts used inside that catagory (sub-menu items) are GIGANTIC compared to all my other fonts; basically the fonts to all the new stuff. What properties value do I change to make text inside these catagories match the rest of the SageMC UI text.

here's a new SageMC version with a couple of new features.
And some old bugs it seems!
I still have a problem with a few things...
1. Opening a playlist sometimes show the album names rather than the song name (see attachment)
2. My weather still has no usable "Current Details". Clicking on the option simply stops the interface until you click OK. (The bit of code to expand the "popup" is missing)
The first problem is very annoying as I cant seem to get round it.
Note Other than these two issues, I couldn't do without it!

This is not an "old bug", this has always been that way and is intended. When you add an album to the playlist, the album object is added internally, and not the list of songs. But if there is general consensus that this is awkward, I wouldn't mind changing it...

Cross-posted this in the FCL thread...
Can't be sure if this is definitely a new problem, but I believe 6.3.3 breaks the Favorite Channel Lists import, or at least causes problems when trying to set it up for the first time. I tried to upgrade to 6.3.3 at the same time as a general "downgrade" to Sage 6.0.19 because of stability issues with 6.1. All of the problems go away if I go with 6.3.2c instead of 6.3.3...
Anyway, when I setup FCL, I got a few problems:
1) the "Options" popup menu in FCL has some sort of "overlay" issues where it's hard to read
2) The guide button doesn't cycle to the FCL anymore. Instead, if you're looking at the guide and press guide, it jumps back to the main menu
3) There's no "Current FCL" option in the "Guide Display Options" either.
Also, probably unrelated to FCL but along the lines of what others have already said, my preview window on the guide cuts into the bottom row of the guide, even if I haven't increased the number of rows. When I scroll down to that line in the guide, the box with the channel name actually disappears (as if it's sort of "behind" the preview window) as well.
Don't know if people already with FCL installed are able to still use it without a problem or not, I just noticed because I was trying a fresh install of FCL on top of 6.3.3...

Thanks Dirk.. I already reverted back to the last SageMC version.... so I cant take a screen shot anymore. But the fonts I'm talking about are the ones in the screenshot you posted for the new google/youtube layout. My UI fonts for SageMC (ie base font, title, subtitle, etc) are all much smaller than the default because of my high res display. I'm not sure what font/fontsize the new layout uses, but doesnt appear to be the same as the rest of the menus' texts. Maybe I need to reload my theme again?

Another strange outcome of my "reversion" back to 6.0.19 (using SageMC 6.3.3) -- I had to re-define all of my video import directories. After doing that, all of my dvd folders were reloaded, but didn't have their meta-data attached, so I did a refresh of all DVD Profiler meta-data.
Now all of my dvds have a string of numbers in parentheses next to the name, that I *think* is where the date of the film used to be. But now the numbers look kind of crazy - like one of them is (1041408000000) and another is (788947200000). The more I think about it, the more I'm pretty sure this used to be the date. Somebody can probably confirm this for me pretty easily. Anyway...

But I added individual songs not whole albums!
Also a line saying

Interestingly, after I've selected "Play Playlist" the playlist then does show the individual song titles (mostly). See attached image.

No obviously weather related errors. (Zipped log attached)
If you look at that section of the STV. The size of OSDoptions is dependant on XOptions. There is nothing to change the size of xOptions though. In theory it should be done already via the "VerticalOptionsTheme" that has a link to another "OSDOptions", however that doesnt seem to work on my setup.

I'm working on getting my ripped TV series integrated into Sage. I guess I've got it the best I can, but there are few things I don't like. Maybe I can fix some of these and just don't know it. So, here there are, please let me know if doing things a different way would help or if these are something that could be fixed in the STV.
1. My tv series show in My Videos along with my ripped movies. I would rather have something like My Movies and My TV. But it appears that all imported media gets put in the same place.
2. In My Videos, I have the display set to 5x2. With this, the movie posters almost perfectly fit into the selection box. But, the tv series have their poster superimposed over a folder graphic that is more square. So, there is a lot of space above and below this image. Can I lose the folder icon? I like the 'X items' displayed at the bottom and that is enough for me to know it is a folder with more than item.
3. I'm using .my files for the metadata. Can I have breaks in the data? I'd like to list quotes or cast on one line at a time, but if hit enter at the end of the line, nothing else shows up on the screen. Also, is title, overview, actors and year the only attributes used?
4. This might need to go in the icon thread, but the Series icon is just blank. Can that be updated to some tv related images or add a new tv icon?
I think that's it! Thanks for any help!

Is 'Single' the Album name ? Your screenshots look really weird. The SageMC code is simply using the Sage API 'PrintAiringShort()', and this usually only prints 'xxx at xxx on xxx' when it is a video recording, I've never seen this for music songs or albums. Could it be that your wiz.bin is screwed up ?

I simply love SageMC. I have only just moved to MC in the last few months and have been working on a new theme based largely on various graphics from other themes and a few customizations... great product.. .thanks.
I installed this latest update and like the idea of the Watched Icons for the imported videos section... however, in my display the icons are as large as the row is tall. IS there any way to reduce the size of this displayed icon... I know it is the same icon file as the one used in the guide... but there is an option in SageMC to set the guide icon size (mine is .55).
Also, would be nice for the icon to justify to the right (just to the left of the folder icon).. or to the right of the folder icon where the online icon is displayed.
Thoughts?

Here's another small update:
- fixes Weather Current Detail dialog when OSD animations are on
- Online Video info and descriptions now using base UI font
Let me know if this works for you guys.

Dirk, somebody already reported a commercial skipping problem on MVP and I want to confirm that I also have the same problem, 6.3.2c was fine. It appears as though MVP just does not see the commercial position information and the timeline is displayed like there are no commercials at all. BTW, even when the commercials were seen fine by 6.3.2c, MVP would not automatically skip them, I had to skip them manually. Is there an option somewhere for auto skipping? I know you can enable for the current show, but is there a global option?
Also, with the new update the wallpaper and main menu animated icons on MVP are displayed over stretched horizontally, the server is fine; both server and MVP are 4:3 if that's any help.
Thank you for the great UI,
-Alex.

The Single is because it was a ripped single song CD. The album title is then "Single". I dont think the Wiz.bin is corrupt. I just restarted the whole server and the same wiz.bin is in use.
Interestingly they appear as "<album name> at xxx Jan yy:zz on" in the queue until you start playing the queue, when the name and artist appear!
Ok, I can now reproduce this behavior, I haven't tested this dialog with the setting "OSD animations" on before. I'll provide a fix for this soon
Thanks! That will save me fixing it every time :)

It sounds like SageMC interprets the one song as the entire album when you add it to the play list. This kind of seems logical since the one song _is_ the whole album. What would happen if you delete the album tag or change it to the name of another album that you have in your library? You might have to do something like remove the song completely, rescan your libraries, and then re-add it in order for sage to pick up the changed tag info.

Mhh, but there shouldn't really be an "<Album Name> at xxx on xxx", the Sage core only prints this out for Video airings (at least for me). When I add a whole album to the playlist, it correctly displays as <Album Name>. I don't have any single songs though, so I will try to test this myself.
How does the default STV behave with those songs ?

How does the default STV behave with those songs ?
Seems to cope OK. Shows the song name and artist as expected.
One thing I have just noticed though is that the default STV only shows 6 playlists (not including the playlist I raised the problem with), where as SageMC shows three screen full (its picking up .m3u lists as well)!
The m3u playlists only contain lots of lines like
<track> <artist name> - <song title>
but SageMC shows
"Single" at 28 Dec 13:12 on
(This is the modified date) even though the mp3s only have artist tags!
I've just created a new playlist using SageMC, and most tracks show the title. Looks like my playlist is not in the correct format or something!
FYI: I've just got one that says "Album: Single" Which is a whole album that I put in by accident. To delete it I had to resort to the original STV.
Just noticed an issue when selecting the number of rows in the my music artist section when on the MVP. How do i delete the existing number? its at 10. If i enter, lets say 5--it turns it to 105. Is there a delete button on the remote? I went and changed it in the client properties file but am i missing something?

where as SageMC shows three screen full (its picking up .m3u lists as well)!
As far as I can tell from the code, SageMC does not contain any special handling for .m3u playlists, it just calls the standard core playlist APIs. AFAIK external playlists get read by the core on import and are converted into Sage-internal playlist objects, but I have no idea why the default STV doesn't list them

They use base font size - 4 (this works perfect for the default size). There are other parts in the STV which use the same kind of logic. Of course, if you already have your base font very small, this will probably make them tiny...

AFAIK external playlists get read by the core on import and are converted into Sage-internal playlist objects, but I have no idea why the default STV doesn't list them
Strange! The default stv doesnt list .m3u's that contain several lines per song.
e.g.
#EXTINF:0,12 Moloko - Sing It Back.mp3
12 Moloko - Sing It Back.mp3
#EXTINF:0,13 Bob Marley - Sun Is Shining.mp3
13 Bob Marley - Sun Is Shining.mp3
rather than just
12 Moloko - Sing It Back.mp3
13 Bob Marley - Sun Is Shining.mp3
Does "most" mean that some songs are not showing up correctly ?Sorry should have reworded that after I noticed that the one showing up strangely was an album not a song. All songs in new playlists show the title and artist.
As a summary of my questions above: do you only see problems with imported playlists, or also with those generated within SageMC ?
Looks like it's an old playlist that I was having problems with. Could have been created with the default STV or SageMC or even Cayers STV.
I think we can conclude that its a fault in how the playlist was stored in the wiz.bin. Createing a new playlist show perfectly no matter which stv it is created in. Sorry about that! I didnt suspect the playlist could be at fault.

I've recently had some strange behavior related to the commercial skipping features.
When I get to a commercial, Sage does skip some amount of time--and the timeline indicator shows that I'm in the correct spot, but I am in fact someplace in the middle of the commercials. If I FF, I eventually end up way past the end of the commercials, so I then have to RW. Low and behold, I end up having to go all the way back to where the timeline indicateed that the commercials ended.
I guess it's tough to describe, but it's like the indicator is off of where I actually am.
I'm running the most recent versions os SageMC and (non-beta) Sage. This only started to happen in the past week or so, and only on shows recorded from my HDHR--shows recorded from my SD tuner still function correctly.
This weekend I'll really troubleshoot and see if I can nail down the issue, but I was wondering if anyone is experiencing anything similar?
Thanks,
Tim

First thing I would try is:
if you can consistently reproduce this behavior on a specific video file, then load up the default STV, install the corresponding comskip plugin, and see if the issue remains. Just to determine if it is a SageMC or a general comskip problem.

Anyway...
1. Any idea how this happened?
2. Any idea how to fix it?

Todd, my goodness, you are having exactly the same problem that I have, and with the same types of video's too. Did you find that DVDprofiler didn't have a lot of the kids video's that you mentioned? It's about 30% of our collection.
I am having the same problems with 3.0 doing the import as well. And going back to 2.4 isn't an option for new users. It doesn't function without an existing 2.4 database. And you can't create a new one because the online profiles are now only supported in 3.0 format.
I managed to get the covers by going to amazon.com and grabbing the large covers from there. My Movies under MCE had the ability import metadata from Amazon which made this importing relatively painless. But DVD profiler doesn't have that option.
Flachbar, are we missing anything with the new files from stanger? Do we need to do anything other than install them and restart the ui? Import the video directories, etc?

- make sure to have the correct paths to DVDProfiler, collection.xml, and the offline path set in the SageMC options
- add the specified offline path to your import directories
- go to my videos, bring up the options menu, and select 'Meta-Data Options'
- select 'Import offline videos'. This will generate fake .mpg files in the offline path, and import them into the wiz.bin
- select 'DVD Profiler refresh'. This will copy the cover art and import the video info from the collection.xml

Until Dirk gets around to qualifying the issues with DVDPro2Sage for 3.0 here is what I did. Load the default SageTV3.xml and use the DVDPro2Sage and the IVL7.2 stvi found here (http://http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=224623&postcount=49) and here (http://http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=223776&postcount=26) in this (http://http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25326) thread. Configure the paths properly and update all your info. Now just switch to SageMC and enjoy. You'll need to switch back & forth when you add new DVDs until it is updated in SageMC. And keep in mind if you did a fresh install of DVD Profiler 3.0 the default paths for the database and images is different from 2.4. Traditionally you export the collection.xml to the SageMC directory in Sage. (Or at least I did.)

Ok, I had not seen the step about generating the offline video folders before. I don't have any offline videos stored in DVD profiler, but following these steps seems to have fixed the issue in SageMC.
Thanks for the step by step - is there someplace where this is documented that I missed?
Also, what is the folder structure supposed to be for boxed set DVD's? DVDprofiler has this represented as a single title, but I don't think the right answer is to have the rips merged in one directory.
Also, DVD profiler has a number of titles with : in the name of the title. These did not import properly. I can't seem to get windows to stick a : in the directory name though. How is this supposed to be handled?
Thanks for being patient with me.
Thanks,
Mike

When I'm watch a show, if I press the record button, I get prompted if I would like to start recording from that point on.. I answer yes. A few minutes later, I decide thats where I'd like to TV clip to end that I'd like to save... so I press the record button again. I get prompted to save partial recording. When I answer yes to that.. why the heck does sageTV continue to record that show?? How do I make it stop for real? I already pressed the Stop button on the remote.

PS When I select a DVD manually by browsing the filesystem, and then select the edit metadata option, and manually import from dvdprofiler, it just says for all the categories: collection.xml not found...
Todd, does it do the same thing for you?
Thanks,
Mike
I didn't realize there was another way to do it. Yes, I do it manually, and yes, I have the same exact error...... Guess those of us that just jumped on the Sage/Profiler bandwagon are SOL till there's some kind of update.... Guess I could try the IVL thing, but as it is I have to switch to the regular STV to refresh the imported videos as I add them.....

Also, DVD profiler has a number of titles with : in the name of the title. These did not import properly. I can't seem to get windows to stick a : in the directory name though. How is this supposed to be handled?
Again, I'm having this same problem. Before I got DVD Profiler, I used the amazon import, and it imported one of my video's with a : in it. So now I can't even get a .jpg file for that one because windows won't let a filename have a ":" in it......

Forgive me for being out of the loop for a while, but I'm unable to find out what this means? Of course, I just installed the newest version, so if it's something that happens automatically, I may not have seen it yet.
I'm not using the Dynamic menu (I know, what's my problem?) yet...so that could also be the issue...?
Love the # out in front of "More" I thought it would be nice to have that feature, but never thought to ask.

I just checked it, and it works fine for me. How do you tell that it is still recording, just because you're seeing the manual recording icon, and the button "Cancel Recording" ? If so, this is expected (based on how this is implemented), it does not continue to record.
FYI, partial recordings are not supported by the SageTV core, and I had to do some dirty tricks under the hood to implement this functionality. Maybe it doesn't work on every system, but this is as good as it can get for the moment...

Dirk, yes you're absolutely right. I was confused by the manual recording icon and the "Cancel Recording". I was able to grab the clips just fine. I'm guessing for this type of manual recordings there's no good way to turn off "Cancel Recording" and the manual recording icon or you would have already done it.
BTW, This is a great feature... reminds me of a good old fashioned VCR you can just press record and stop record when you want.

Nice to hear that it works for you. Keep in mind that the manual recording button is also displayed for other "full" manual recordings, even after the show has been recorded - it simply marks it as "manual"... The "Cancel Recording" is displayed because the Sage core API returns that it is still recording, but it will go away once the show has ended.

I am new to SageTV, well I'm new to the entire HTPC thing. I just installed SageTV the other day and got everything working so now I am trying to improve it. I installed the SageMC 6.3.2 and had a little trouble with some of the menus so I went back to the original SageTV3.xml. I saw SageMC 6.3.3 so I again upgraded to see if that would fix it. I figured out some things but now I can't get to any of my sage recordings. If I go to SageTV Recordings in the main menu or Archived Recordings in the SageMC menu it says "Unkown Internal Screen". I can go back to the original SageTV3.xml and it works fine. Did I do something wrong or am I just an idiot?
Edit: So much for that edit. This sucks, I thought I had it but I keep getting errors. When I finally got it working there was only the main screen and the settings windows. No more internet services, no more IMDB, no more dynamic menus that work. Am I just doing something comepletely wrong? I followed the instructions exactly but it still doesnt work right. Isn't there a setup file that will make sure everything gets done right or is it just the zip file that I have to extract into the SageTV directory.

Not sure if this is a SageTV problem or a SageMC problem.
But, is there any rhyme or reason to how music is displayed?
I have lots of compilation albums. Think those Time Life ones you see on late night TV.
Some of them in the "View By Album" display the album will only show up once, others, the album shows up for each and every track on them.
This is REALLY annoying.
I have redone all the tags on them to make 100% sure that they are identical and I cannot spot any difference between the ones that display properly and the ones that don't. I removed the import directories and reimported them all. as well.
Any ideas?

I actually tried so many things I got confused and forgot half the stuff I tried. One of the things I ended up doing was installing a SageMC install EXE I got from somewhere then did the 6.3.2 update to that then the 6.3.3 and it almost worked but when I turned on dynamic menus to mess with that it crashed. I finally went back to the original SageTV3 file and played with other things just to get used to Sage. My new copy of Vista just got in so when I get home I will start loading it and once I get it somewhat working I will try reloading Sage 6.0.19 first then install MC then upgrade to 6.1.9. I love the look of the SageMC but it seems like its missing stuff. If its actually working properly will all the missing content be available? I also noticed I cant import STVi files with SageMC, is this normal?

Yes, SageMC does not import .stvi files. Many imports designed for the stock UI files will not work with SageMC.
There are imports designed for SageMC and they are .xml files instead of .stvi. Some .stvi imports will work ok in SageMC if the file is renamed to .xml before importing. However, unless specified as SageMC safe, there are no guarantees that the renamed import won't mess up SageMC.

I can handle that. As long as IMDB works I am happy. Two more questions. First, I noticed there was a comskip option in the setup mune, does this include comskip or do I still need to get comskip and this just reads the comskip file? Second, where can I get STV ver 6.0.19 so I can install like doc described to try and get it working properly?
Edit: Found a post that said where to get previous versions. But still wondering about the first question.

Dirk,
I've been using SageMC for a month or so, and it simply rocks! I upgraded to the latest version in your .sig last night, and the improvements are excellent. (Thanks for adding my suggestion of optionally including "# more" on the recordings screen.)
Anyway, I have a feature request: With the RSS feeds, is there any way to have an option to make the story links "inactive"? THis would prevent an external browser from launching. We use the remote exclusively, so it's a real hassle to have to find the mouse just to dismiss the browser window. Currently, the RSS feeds show the headline and a simple blurb which is enough for our use.

I beleive that, yes, there is a version of comskip included in SageMC, but the preferred way is to setup a standalone compskip or ShowAnalyser to do the commercial scanning and to have SageMC read the comskip/SA file.

I use HiP to map the back and home buttons on the remote to close the browser window (Alt + F4) & restore focus to Sage. It's not quite perfect, because the back button also sends a back command to Sage, but it basically works. With IE set to full screen it looks fully integrated.

ok I got Vista installed on my PC and SageTV and SageMC installed also. It totaly rocks! Other than the normal video card issues the only issue I had was importing the iTV into SMC. I finally gave up and copied the entire SageTV directory from my XP drive to the Vista drive and it worked great. It runs so much better than the XP drive did, maybe because SMC is the only thing installed so far, and I still havent gone in and done the performance tweaks yet. I still havent messed with the comskip but I got Mythbusters set to record today, maybe I will experiment. I also need to update to the latest version of Sage since I had to install 6.0.19 to get SMC to work in the first place but I really gotta say this is the best MC I've seen yet!

Hi. I had an issue with some "errant" recordings being imported into Sage. These were not salvageable in terms of being seen as native sage recordings, but were automatically imported. I moved them to a special "archived movies" directory that is a video import directory, and Sage sees them all in there just fine.
When I do an IMDB lookup on the movie titles in SageMC, they are found just fine, I save them, including the cover. Selecting one of the titles shows the metadata for that title from IMDB was imported just fine, but instead of a cover image from IMDB, a thumbnail from the video is displayed, just as if it was a sage recording. It ignores the cover .jpg file that's in the directory.
How do I get it to display the cover image that IMDB provided instead of the video snapshot?
Thanks,

The intelligent recordings icon is only displayed for scheduled IR recordings. Once it has been recorded, there is afaik no way to find out if an airing has been recorded via IR or 'normally' - there is no tag/attribute in the database which would indicate that. Hence there is no way to display an icon for existing recordings.
Or are you saying that you don't even get the icon on scheduled IR shows ?

This is for a full PC client, so I didn't think I needed a reboot. These are single files - they are "errant" recordings that Sage wound up automatically importing from the recordings directory when it lost track of them.
They had no meta data before the IMDB lookup, but they did have the video thumbnails already generated.

I have a quick thought on this. There are tags for series and manual recordings. I think the only other way to get a recording is through IR. So maybe treating everything that is not a series or manual recording as an IR recording might work? I just use the Intelligent Suggestions feature myself, but if I were to use IR I would personally like to see an 'Intelligent Recordings' folder in the grouped view. Just my .02 (which after inflation is really only worth .0002 at the most)

Aloha,
MikeNielm developed something like that here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=56) for the main STV and I love the concept! I don't think he has time to do one for us but perhaps something like it could be developed. I wouldn't mind having the IRs hidden for the most part in the main list. In fact, no matter how well the IRs could be tuned, no way to separate IRs (icons or folders) is what keeps me from implementing them. I don't want the list of pre-recorded TV to fill up with this stuff and I REALLY don't wan't it to fill up if there is no way to add an even an icon for them. A separate folder would do nicely indeed.

...and did I say AWESOME STV???? We're coming from 2.2.8's default STV, so it's like moving to an entirely new app!
As long as we're adding to the request list, my wife noticed that the recorded shows list no longer "wraps around" (ie she can't scroll back to "a" once she's gotten to the end). I guess this means we tape too much (318 shows at last count that we haven't yet gotten to watch), but...
This is obviously just a "nice to have," so feel free to ignore it.
Thanks again for a great interface!

Whatever directory you specify will be used to store the generated .mpg files and images for your DVDs in your profiler collection (during DVD Profiler import). Once this step is done, they have to get imported normally, that's why you need to add the offline path to your SageTV import paths.

Dirk,
Thanks. I understand that. But here is the problem i am running into.
In the sagemc paths setup-i select the folder where I want the offline videos to be stored. Then I also setup that folder as an import directory. BUT--when I do this and I go into My videos and sort by file system--I just get one large mass of videos mixed in with my other import folders. How can i avoid this?
Also--i can only 'tag' videos with custom groups if I am in the folder view. If I am already in the group view and hover over a folder, it won't let me add that folder to a custom view. Is this correct? Based on the above paragraph, if all my videos are mixed into the main my videos view-it would take forever to right-click on each one and move it to a custom group. I think i'm missing something simple.

Also--i can only 'tag' videos with custom groups if I am in the folder view. If I am already in the group view and hover over a folder, it won't let me add that folder to a custom view. Is this correct?
In the group view, you should only see existing groups and the "Unassigned" group, but no folders, right ? Would it help if you could assign all "unassigned" videos (or all videos of an existing group) to a different group ?

In the default STV, there is an option to set manual record status on intelligent recordings. This feature is useful to ensure that recording I want to keep are not automatically deleted. I can't seem to find this option in SageMC. Am I missing something?
No, you're not missing something, this is not available in SageMC. But I'll try to add this in a future version.

Just my .02 (which after inflation is really only worth .0002 at the most)
I tried this a few months back, but couldn't get it right. Since your advice is alway worth more than just a few pennies (even after inflation) I had a go at it again, and this time I think I got it (almost)...
Yep, this is good. It's the 'would' record part that I would see expanded to include a folder. A folder for IRs that 'have been' recorded would be a nice feature. Of'course icons would work nicely as well but I don't something is lacking in the main code for this unfortunately.
Try the attached STV, it will also show IR icons for recorded shows, and lets you filter on "all", "scheduled", and "suggested". I used Mikes approach to determine if it's IR or not, and it works for all except these cases:
- if you watched Live TV and the recording still shows up in the list because it does not get deleted right away, it will show as a false "IR" positive, since it is neither a manual nor a a favorite
- if you remove a favorite definition but still have some recordings for this favorite, they will also show up as "IR" recordings
Let me know (this is addressed to anyone using IR and wanting IR icons) if those issues are minor enough, then I'll include this code in the future.

I think this would solve my problem. I still wouldn't be able to sort by file system because they would all be lumped together but i could sort by groups, and then do a batch assign to the unassigned videos.
Also--Is it possible to sort by file system and see folders instead of all the movies in one big list? this is where i think i am missing something. Are you're paths identical for imported videos and in sagemc setup?
Thanks,

Cant you just create another set of intermediate folders?
e.g. I've my import folders set somthing like
\\mytv\disk1
\\mytv\disk2
\\mytv\disk3
\\mytv\offlineDVDs
then put extra folders..
\\mytv\disk1\Films - For Films
\\mytv\disk1\Mythbusters -
\\mytv\disk2\Films - more films when I ran out of space on disk 1
\\mytv\offlineDVDs\offline DVDs - offline DVD's folder
Then in SageMC's "File System" View I see Films, Mythbusters and "offline DVDs" at the top level. If you get the case the same you only see one set of folders even though there are two separate Films folders.

Thanks,--i see where you are going. The one question I have is what do you then select in sagemc paths setup for your offline folder path? It seems that if I select the (in your case) \\mytv\offlinedvds folder--it will populate that folder with the offline dvd's and automatically add that to my import list. Thanks,

So I tried adding the YouTube menu to SageMC - I'm running SageMC 6.3.3. All the videos I try to play get the "unrecognized video format" error.
I saw a post where Opus4 responded to this issue by pointing to a post detailing how this was fixed in the default STV. Is there an easy fix for this in SageMC? I like having YouTube available on the TV, but I don't want to have to load the default STV just to use it!

Is there a how-to or notes somewhere on how to create a theme for SageMC ?
What are the steps ?
Thanks.

btl.Same here. And the problem exists for Google Video as well.

I actually have
\\mytv\offlineDVDs\offline DVDs
as the offlien folder path. Which you may have meant, I should have chosen better folder names for the example.

I dont know if my entire install is screwed up (I will find out when I re-format next week) but I have the same problem. All my mythbusters and planet earth shows that I imported from another PC just show up all together and I have to get through all the mythbusters to get to planet earth. I did move them into their own folder in explorer then re-imported. My import folder was C:\user\opy01\videos and I put the shows in their own subfolders inside that.
They showed up the way I wanted until I restarted Sage, then they just went back to the way they were. If I add those subfolders to the import directories then they all just show up together and not in their respective folders in sage.
Does it sound like its a bad install or am I doing something wrong?
opy01--thanks for the help.
I figured out what is going wrong--i just don't know why.
My offline paths as setup in the sagemc setting: \\offline dvd's\offline dvd's
My import folder: \\offline dvd's
Now when i do a scan everything comes up fine. I seem to be missing some movies based on what dvd profiler is reporting but that is another topic.
Now-when I go to import dvd profiler videos is when the weird things happen. It shows a list of movies and I select import. For some reason, it will add my offline path (offline dvd's\ofline dvd's) as an import folder! So i now have 2 import folders. And because of this, the movies show up in a large list when viewing by folder. So my question--why when I refresh the dvd profiler videos does it add the path I specified in the sagemc setup to my import folder list??? I think that is what is happening.
Thanks,
Juc

Simply set "Auto Add Offline Path" to false in the SageMC settings... :)

A bug.
When you click on the Parental Controls button on the My Menu menu, it takes you directly to the parental controls menu without asking for a password. The Parental Controls button on the Settings menu asks for a password before allowing access to the parental controls menu (as it should).
A nother bug.
In the default std I setup parental controls to block access to Google and YouTube videos. In SageMC, YouTube videos is missing and access to Google videos is unrestricted.
Perhaps these are not bugs after all. Perhaps I need to set some paramenter value?
Please help save my kiddies from bad TV:)

I am still trying to figure out if it is possible in SageMC when you go to My Videos to see folders that specific videos are in and clicking on that folder to veiw the videos inside that folder instead of all the videos just sitting all together in the root directory? I just want this to be a little more organized.

If the top left Item in "My Videos" shows "File System" then, provided your import folders point to a folder above the folder containing the videos this is what you should get.
i.e.
Import folder is V:\myvids
film.avi stored at V:\myvids\Films\film.avi
If you previously had them all in one folder, you might have to remove you import folder from the list, rescan, put the folder back and do another rescan. Thats how I fixed this problem when it occurred to me. Sage core seems to remember the original locations of videos if you simply move them.

Another alternative is to assign custom genres to your videos and then use the genre view. I have done this for a number of kids videos on our system (i.e. I have custom genres defined for 'Baby Einstein', 'Go Diego Go', 'Bob the Builder', etc...).
You can also assign videos to groups for the primary view and then display videos by genre or whatever at the next level. These are just a couple alternatives for organizing videos that you might consider.

Thanks! That helped figure out part of the problem. Sage seems to remember everything, even stuff after you remove and rescan. My old import directory was C:\Users\OPY01\Videos which I removed from the import directory in SageMC, removed the Mythbusters folder from that directory, re-scanned, shut down Sage then re-opened Sage then re-scanned again and so on and so on but it never worked.
I had to create a completely new directory C:\My Videos and put my Mythbusters folder inside of that one then point to the C:\My Videos for the import directory and the Mythbusters folder showed up in the My Videos in SageMC with the actual videos inside. Now that thats figured out I only have a few more minor things to figure out and I will be all set. Of coarse all those directories will change when I set up my RAID with four 500Gig SATAs. Now off to figure out how to compress them all to DIVX. Again, thanks for the help. :hi:
