View Full Version : STV: SageMC 16x9 Version 6.x (latest dev build)
Edit: You also need to run the service as a user that has a password. The user also needs to be the same on both machines, and have the same password on both machines.
Thx; can you auto-login a machine with a userid that has a password? If not, how are you guys handling machine bounces (ie, power goes out)?

I recently rebuilt my HTPC due to bad mobo, and my video drives now have new UNC paths.
Most of the recorded shows show something like "The Daily Show - 10 recorded shows" (I forget the exact wording). However, when I go into that group, there are less than 10. I suspect that this may be due to the fact that sage still thinks that there are some episodes on the (now defunt/redundant) old UNC paths. I seem to remember something about recreating the path, but empty, so that sage will see it empty and remove the extra (non-existant) files from the wiz.bin, however, I don't remember exactly what the old UNC paths were.
Is there a way to find out where sage is waiting for those files to reappear so I can show sage there is nothing there?
Or, if there is another reason for this behaviour, how do I fix it?

Not sure if you can use network drives (dont see why not, it's just a drive).
But the Service can not access network maps. If you use the service you must use UNC paths (or stiick to local drives)
Edit: You also need to run the service as a user that has a password. The user also needs to be the same on both machines, and have the same password on both machines.
Also, if you use drive letters for imports (at least for DVD rips), your client machines won't be able to open/view them, because the client needs direct access to those files (ie they're not streamed from the server). In that case, even if they're local drives on the server, you should set your import directories to UNCs and share those shares so the client machines can see them.

Since using SageMC, I've noticed that when going from page to page (guide to main screen for example), the whole entire screen image shifts left or right at times.
I've tried changing the display resolution (my projector is 1024x768 native) and have gone from 800x600 to 1280x1024....all which exhibit the same problem.
I don't recall this happening with the default STV.
Anyone have any ideas?

How much is it shifting? Could it be "orbit" is enabled? Sorry I cant be specific to its location in the settings menu (at work).

SageMC doesn't appear to show the file location. You can load up the default UI and the "recording detail" should show you the file location. You should see the UNC path there and can then recreate it.
That is one thing I miss with SageMC, I like to see a little bit more recording detail than SageMC shows sometimes.

If I were to compare it on a computer screen, it would be within a centimeter. On my 120" screen however it's more like 6 inches.
Already checked the Orbiting setting which is at Zero.

Anybody else have the following problems with 6.3.6b?
1. When in TV is in "Grouped" view, Sort by Orig within a group is always ignored when first opening the group. Sort by title is OK at the top level is ok, It's just Grouped thats faulty within the group. Marking something watch is very annoying as the order of the list reverses every time you do the marking
2. I cant turn off the core animation in Sage without loosing all animation in the STV. I find the slow change between menu items very annoying as I often overshoot. It also takes much longer to get anywhere.
Currently using SageTV 6.3.5.159 and Java 1.6.0_03.

Maui / New England productions proudly present: SageMC 6.3.7 :)
Dynamic Submenus
Dynamic Submenu configuration is now completely independent of the Main Menu configuration.
The Title Panel can now be disabled from the layout configuration menu.Main Menu (and Dynamic Submenus)
Menu
Icon menu mode
Icon menu scrolling will wrap vertically when vertical wrap is enabled.
For single row icon menu, menu scrolling will wrap horizontally when horizontal wrapping is enabled.
Fixed Focus menu mode
3 arrangements available: Horizontal, Vertical, FreeForm. Horizontal and Vertical arrangements have limited options to simplify configuration. In the FreeForm arrangement, each icon can be individually moved and configured.
Options common to all arrangements
Selection Bars can be set to Folder View, Main Menu, and None
Number of Icons can be set from 1 to 10
Focused Icon selects which displayed icon will retain focus
Set Icon Positions opens a new popup menu where the relative position of each icon can be adjusted (vertical for the horizontal arrangement; horizontal for the vertical arrangement; position, scale, and opacity for each icon in FreeForm arrangement)
Nav Direction selects whether the icons will transition in the direction of an arrow press (Default) or opposite the direction of an arrow press (Reversed).
End Point Animation selects the animation style to be applied to the icons at the ends of the arrangement. Wrap causes the icon at one end to slide to the position at the opposite end. Note that only the wrap animation correctly maintains the transparency (for opacity < 1.0) of the icons during animation. This appears to be a bug in the core and may be fixed in the future.
Animation Style sets the timeline to be used for the animation. Quadratic is used by default. Available options are linear, quadratic, cubic, and bounce.
Animation length (ms) sets the duration of the animation in milliseconds.
Ripple Delay (ms) adds a cumulative delay to the menu transition animation for each icon. This results in a ripple or wave-like effect.
Show Text selects whether or not the text will be displayed along with the icon graphic in the menu icons.
Dbl Click Delay (ms) sets the time that the UI will wait for a second click/select to be performed before proceeding with the primary action. This is used to bring up the popup menus for 'My TV', 'My Music', and 'My Videos'.
Horizontal and Vertical arrangement options
Icon Size Min / Icon Size Max sets the relative size limits for the displayed icons. The focused icon always receives the maximum size and the icon farthest from the focused icon receives the minimum size. All others icons are linearly scaled between these limits.
Opacity Min / Opacity Max sets the relative opacity (transparency) limits for the displayed icons. The focused icon always receives the maximum opacity and the icon farthest from the focused icon receives the minimum opacity. All others icons are linearly scaled between these limits.
FreeForm arrangement options
Navigation Keys sets whether the up/down or left/right keys will trigger a menu transition.
Text menu mode
Added animated transition to MCE style menu
Layout Editing
Added layout import/export to configuration menu. (.layout files)
Added menu and object cloning in dynamic menu mode.
Added undo for object editing. (pressing undo will revert the object to its state when the configuration menu was first opened)
Added display of x position, y position, and scale to move/scale popup when moving all objects
Added Number listener to move/scale popups. Now when you press 1-9 it will cause the object to jump to that location on screen. (i.e. 1 = jump to upper left corner, 5 = jump to center, 8 = jump to bottom center, etc. Also, pressing 0 will set the scale to 1.0) The only place this works a bit differently is for the Fixed Focus Icon Menu. For that only buttons 5 and 0 are active. (The other numbers didn't work intuitively because of the way in which the icon positions are defined) Main Icon Panel
When in Text/MCE menu mode, a new option is available to use the Fixed Focus icons (from the fixed focus menu mode above) as the displayed icons. The configuration is the same as when in the Fixed Focus menu mode, except that the 'focused' icon never actually receives focus. It just displays the icon associated with the focused item in the text menu. The animated icon transitions will occur whenever the selected menu item is changed. This mode can be used to approximate a 'Front Row'-like menu configuration.Time/Date Display
The Time and Date display can now be enabled/disabled, moved and scaled.Info/Conflict/Rec Icons
The informational icons (Info/Conflict/Rec) have been separated from the Time/Date display. The icon group can now be moved and scaled.Recent and Upcoming Recordings
New objects have been added to display the four most recent recordings and the next four upcoming recordings as in the 'My TV' screen.
The Recent and Upcoming Recordings objects can be separately moved and scaled.
Only one recording is shown at a time to conserve real estate. Once the Recordings object is selected, the items can be scrolled into view.
Pressing 'Select' jumps you to the Detailed Info screen for that recording.
Pressing 'Options' brings up the same option menu available in the 'My TV' screenDiskSpace Bar
The Diskspace Bar can now be enabled/disabled, moved and scaledShutdown Icon
The Shudown icon now properly scales with screen size (available on the Main Menu only.)Other changes
Added SageMC properties backup/restore buttons to SageMC Options >> Main (.sagemc files)
Added automatic SageMC properties backup at application start and exit. (application_start_backup.sagemc and application_exit_backup.sagemc)
Added a compatibility check at startup for Java, SageTV, and SageMC jar version
Added display of aspect ratio mode in OSD
Added video thumbnails in MyTV (can be disabled in MyTV options)
Added 'ImportScript' theme property that allows theme designers to import and run STVi code when the theme gets loaded
Added the ability to define a main menu item that will play all your music albums in random order. Add the following to your dynamic main menu file:
<internalScreenMenuItem screen="Now Playing" title="Play All Albums">
<evalExpression>SetProperty("random_music_playback", true)</evalExpression>
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PlayAllAlbums", true)</evalExpression>
</internalScreenMenuItem>
Here are a couple of screen shots showing the new functionality in the main menu:

A lot of the sagemc specific properties have been renamed for consistency, but the old properties will get migrated automatically when you load the STV for the first time. Make a backup in case you want to go back to an older version.
Update instructions:
- shut down the UI
- unzip *all* files in the download file
- make a backup of your Sage property file
- restart the UI
- load the new STV
The dev package and the full installation package are available for download here:

I'm not sure if something is messed up with my setup or not, but it's very hard for me to tell which Menu icon is the that is currently selected. Something doesnt seem right. There is no difference between Selection Bars= Main Menu and Select Bars= None.
If Selection Bars= Folder View, I get this really ugly looking Square Highlight. It kind of looks like the highlight has another square transparent smaller highlight in it with a border around the whole thing.

Ummm...yeah....about that.
You won't see anything with the icons set to Main Menu unless your theme has those icons included. I added those in v6.3.6 to give theme designers and users the ability to define different icons for the main menu than the folder view icons used in the rest of the STV.
Now the funny looking selection icon is all my fault. It was my first attempt at making selection bars when I made the original glassy sets and the folder view icons I generated back then didn't turn out all that great. In fact as you so aptly put it, they were kind of ugly. Sorry about that.

"Main Menu" was introduced last time around - you basically have to provide the graphic that is used for that highlight. Folder View uses the "icon_empty_focus" and "icon_empty_nofocus" .png's in the theme folder. If you create two pngs called "main_menu_focus" and "main_menu_nofocus" - those will be used instead.
One nice trick is that you can just create the focus one - and leave the "nofocus" one missing. Then you only get the selection bubble on the selected item.

You can try grabbing the icon_empty_*.png icons in the appropriate color from my liquid theme. They are a pretty close match and look much better IMO. Rename them to main_menu_focus.png and main_menu_nofocus.png and they won't interfere with the rest of your theme. HTH

Mike here are some issues that I've noticed right away. I'm hoping these are things that you or Dirk would consider fixing:
1) Animations are broken when there's a video preview window active in the Main menu (fixed focus). I have my animation length (ms) set to 500. It looks like the animation length changes to 0.
2) In Fixed focus menu style... mouse hover over and select does not work at all.. except for the icon that is always highlighted. I realize this contradicts the name "fixed focus", but this flexibility sure would be helpful since most of the things I select are with my mouse.
3) Video Preview window sizes are not consistent between these types of menus and the old style "My Videos, My music". The Clock location is also not consistent between the guide and the new menus.
4) Record icon (top right of screen) isn't scaled correctly when you switch to window view (from Full screen).. it looks too big.
5) Mini-menus are not accessible via remote control select. I'm not sure how to change the delay. Maybe, as you said, adding a separate key would be good too. (I just thought Id add this here so you wouldn't forget :) )

Although it's a good idea to upgrade to SageTV 6.3.7 anyway (we'll update the animations in the next minor release to be interruptable, which is a new 6.3.7 feature), I can definitely confirm that SageMC 6.3.7 works fine with SageTV 6.3.5. I have tested this with a SageTV 6.3.5 install in a MS Virtual PC VM, importing and exporting of layouts works without problem. There must be something else in your environments that is causing these issues. But if upgrading to 6.3.7 solves the problem, the better !

Upgrading to SageTV 6.3.7 RC didn't work for me. Must be something else preventing the import of layouts.
Does the layout import require certain theme to be install or it should have worked with any themes you selected in the theme setup?
Right now I have Theme BlueTwo selected and I am trying to get it verticial or circle layout icons. When I selected "Icon Fixed" for main meun instead of text it shows a circle but it looked real distorted on my screen and icon overlapping on the right side.
Is the example layout only work for 16:9 HDTV screen or it should have worked on 4:3 SDTV
This is a clean SageTV install with only SageMC installed on it.
Any idea?

I did find an oddity though. When on a sub-menu screen, pressing left from any focused item other than the menu icons causes the screen to jump back to the main menu.

Hi everyone! Havent been using SageMC in a while, and have since changed platforms for my server (now its on a MAC) and I dont think I can use the latest SageMC right? Because of the lack of Java 6. Or will it work on Java 5? I can "get" Java 6, although its not a released version, and not for public use, so I am a bit hesitant to install it if I dont need it.
By the way, the latest version looks sick! :D

Kirby, it should work fine with Java 1.5. But I have no idea if there any problems running it on a Mac, since we don't have any way to test that...

Does the layout import require certain theme to be install or it should have worked with any themes you selected in the theme setup?
Should work with any theme. But did you try the default theme ?
Is the example layout only work for 16:9 HDTV screen or it should have worked on 4:3 SDTV
4:3 shouldn't matter
This is a clean SageTV install with only SageMC installed on it.

"Grouped" is my default view, and I have never seen this issue. Everything is sorted correctly, and setting shows to watched doesn't affect the order either. Do yo see any errors in the debug log ?
2. I cant turn off the core animation in Sage without loosing all animation in the STV. I find the slow change between menu items very annoying as I often overshoot. It also takes much longer to get anywhere.
Sorry, but this is intended, we moved all animations over to core animations. We couldn't see any difference in speed between the built-in animations and the old style ones.

Yeah, looks like I've migrated two properties I shouldn't have. I'll fix this asap.
For now, shut down the UI, open your sage property file and find/set the following two properties:

sagemc/display_video_on_menus=XIf Active

Debug log attached, no errors that I can see.
Could it be because it's using the recording date rather than oroginal airing date?
(The Radio Times XML feed doesnt include original airing dates as far as I can tell)

This is an awesome new version! Keep up the amazing work. One thing that I find missing is documentation on how to use all of the great features that keep coming out.
What are your thoughts on adding documentation to the download or to a wiki site somewhere that explains all of the functionality that SageMC has and that is updated to stay in sync with the latest release? (The sagecommunity.org site takes me to a random landing page and doesn't seem to be working).

I'm having a hard time getting this to work correctly. Now that I updated the jar file, I can see changes, but this doesnt work as expected.
When I "Export all" to a file (ie.. MKANET.layout) when I'm in the main menu.... then import all in on of my custom menus, it screws up my main menu and changes it to some default settings I never had. Plus, my custom menu doesnt change! This same weird behavior happens for exporting/importing just the main menu.
How is this supposed to work?

Make sure when you export that you are going to the directory where you want to place the file. When you are there, on the left side of the dialog box you will see a button called "New File". Make sure you click this so you can give your export a new name. After that you should be able to import this file with your saved settings. I've been able to save my export, import the default and get that setup and then go and import my custom. All of my changes are there just like I saved them. And I did copy in the new .jar file from this thread.

It sounds like at one time you may have overwritten your default or you're importing one that you think is correct but maybe it's in the wrong directory? I would get rid of all your .layout files. (Search for them in subdirectories) Copy the defaults and examples back in from the original zip and step through it again.

Gerry, there's really one one way I can see to do it.. the way you described already. When I export all from the main menu to a new file, then try to import all in one of the custom menus I made.....
It will actually change my Main Menu.. by loading the layout from from the custom menu I supposedly export to.. NOT "from".
The only thing that works correctly is when I try to clone Main Menu/Dynamic Submemu... Import/Export simply don't work correctly.

Mike/Dirk could you please look at my debug file. This is really frustrating. I think I'm doing everything correctly, but it simply does this really weird reproducable and undesirable behavior:
This is what I do:
1) In Main Menu, I Export ALL layout to a file called MKANET.layout
2) I go to any custom menu that I have made (ie.. Setup and Tools)
3) I Import ALL layout from a file called MKANET.layout
4) Setup and Tools menu stays unchanged
5) When I go back to the Main Menu, the whole layout is changed to look like the layout of the menu I just tried to alter.
This happens with exporting with Main Menu, dyanamic sub-menu, and ALL options.
Cloning appears to be working correctly.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
PS: I have no problems importing layouts that wasnt exported from my setup.

Ok, let me try to clarify what Import/Export does:
Export All --> Saves all Main Menu and Dynamic Submenu layout properties to the specified .layout file
Export Main Menu --> Saves only the Main Menu layout properties to the specified .layout file
Export Dynamic Submenu --> Saves only the Dynamic Submenu layout properties to the specified .layout file
Import All --> loads all of the Main Menu and Dynamic Submenu layout properties from the selected file. (This can be a .layout file or a .sagemc property backup file)
Import Main Menu --> Loads only the Main Menu layout properties from the selected file. If the file only contains Dynamic Submenu properties, then nothing will happen.
Import Dynamic Submenu --> Loads only the Dynamic Submenu layout properties from the selected file. If the file only contains Main Menu properties, then nothing will happen.
If you want to load Main Menu properties to a Dynamic Submenu or vice versa, then you can either use the clone function or you can open a .layout file containing only Main Menu properties (for example) in a text editor and replace all instances of MainMenu with DynamicSubMenu.
It is a good idea to backup your layout befoer importing any new .layout files. You can also restore your whole setup to the state it was in at startup by restoring the automaic sagemc property backup that is run at startup.

Mike

mkanet - I think you might be using the wrong commands. meinmaui's post right above is probably all you need - but the last sentence is the key. "Import All" from a file that has a main menu layout won't change anything on a dynamic submenu....
I think that's probably what you are running into.

Mike and Dirk-Amazing release. This seems to be the release that should open the floodgates for people sharing customizations. Great Job!!
I have two minor problems:
1. I use MCE style menus with the menu spacer enabled. When it first loads, the space is present. I have created a sub-menu where I access the settings, video conversions and parental control. When I access this sub-menu, and then come back to the main menu, but space is gone. It will not come back until I restart or go into the dynamic menu through main menu options, disable and re-enable the space, and save. It will not come back if I go into the customize main menu-text-customize and disable/reinable here.
2. I still use TheaterTek to play DVDs. I have re-enabled using this external program, but when I launch a movie, TT launches and immediately closes. This was working in 6.3.6b. Also, the command script has not changed and will launch TT if I open it.
Thanks again for the hard work.

Hi Mike, sorry to be such a pain... I mentioned this problem earlier, but it got buried very quickly in all the recent posts.
But currently people who use a mouse no longer have the ability to hover over and select Menu icons in Fixed Focus mode. Could you please add the ability for people to use their mouse for this mode too? I, along with many other people love the way Fixed Focus looks, but we also love to use our mouse :)
After a second or so, if the item is not selected by the mouse, it would snap back to the main, fixed focus icon.
Thanks so much for all your help!

Amazing job with this latest release. However I encountered a very annoying bug. If I run SageTV as service then I can not import any layout. If I make changes to the main menu they are not saved.
However if I run SageTV without the service everything seems to be fine.
It looks to me that there is a problem how the configuration are read. Almost like writing to SageClient.properties but read from Sage.properties.
Help please

I was having trouble exporting the menu layout files also.
To get the export function working, I had to shut down SageTV, Shut Down Services and disable services. Then restart SageTV (not running as service) and then it would export layout files just fine. Once I was done playing with the menus I would restart SageTV as a service and all was well again.

I am having the same problem. It's saving 1Kb export layout files. Ive already put the updated jar file. I posted my debug file earlier if that helps. I'm using both the sageTV service and the sageTV.exe on the same PC.

Tested some more. Here are the results:
Sage without server
Everything works fine.
Sage running as client with server on same PC
I can import layouts just fine. After running Sage without server once, I can now clone. I still can not export properly. Now when I export, it always exports what I last had set with Sage running without the server.
I also still have the bug, where in a sub-menu pressing left on any item on the screen other than the menu results in going back to the main screen. For example, if the weather bar is active and focused pressing left will jump the screen back to the man menu. 'Left as back' is disabled in the SageMC options.

....and now for a feature request :)
When browsing for menu icons in the dynamic sub-menu options, it would be nice instead of a list of icons it would actually show the icon images.
After browsing and applying an icon that is in the correct folder structure for a SageMC theme, it still makes the path absolute instead of relative. If one was to switch themes after doing this you would remain having the icons from the previous theme.

Okay...one more thing then I'll let it be for the night. I can not get any STVi working properly, either using server or without. I restarted Sage after each and every import and followed instructions for each to the letter. Seeing as it appears to be related to SageMC and not just the imports, I figured I should post this here.
I tried each of these separately:
Google Calender
No icon appears on main screen although the setting in SageMC extras is set to do so. Could not find any other way of accessing the calender.
Advanced Mini Guide
nothing ever appears when pressing down.
Favorites Excluder
accessing the screen from a dynamic sub-menu results in a black screen with white text in the upper left corner, and the word info big in the vertically centered justified left. In my options menu for recorded/scheduled shows there is no menu entry to create an excludes, and I have no 'send to' button on any menu.

I'm having a problem with the themes - when ever I select a new one, the background doesn't seem to change. It's like it's stuck on BlueTwo Blue Steel's background.
Figured it out - there's a setting to pick a background and the BlueTwo Blue Steel one was there - cleared it and it works like it should.

AFAIK all three imports use Greg's studio library for the import process. Make sure you have the current version (should be included in the downloads, I think the version is from Dec 2007) in your JARs directory.

DirkYou may have nailed it right on. It looks as if my version of gkusnick.sagetv.jar is from Wednesday, March 21, 2007. It seems that closing Sage client does not release this file, it gets locked by the server. I will try an update now and see what happens.

I have a strange behavior in my music player for several versions now. I can play a queue with several CDs worth of music and hit play. A random number of songs will play until after the last played song, the screen will go blank as if it reached the end of the queue even though there may be 50+ songs still queued.
I have no firm proof, but it almost feels as if the play reaches the last track on an album it automatically stops regardless of how many songs are still in the queue?
Sound familiar to anyone?

I really like the Search functionality of the default STV. Is there a way to use main page of SageMC, as well as most of the other pages, but use the Music pages/menus of the default STV intact?
just a thought.
Steve
Is there any input on these issues, especially #2? If I switch back to 6.3.6b, the movies launch in TT w/o problem. Was something changed in how the file name is passed to external programs in this release? What info can I provide to help trouble shoot this issue? Thanks for your help.

Now that I got things straightened out, I got another set of requests.
Weather Bar:
Text should scale with image when changing the size of the weather bar
Ability to swap the image and text positions from left to right
Options for text size
Overall Font Usage
It would be really nice if there was an easy way to choose the fonts used throughout the various SageMC screens and consistency for that. Something similar to what Meedio does would be great. There is a choice for an overlay font (used in places where the text is large and sometimes faded back and used for flair), and a choice for the general font (used everywhere else where readability is paramount).
Requests
A separate thread maybe just for requests so they do not get lost among the "please help me" posts.

First time poster....
This is an amazing piece of software.
I have been using VistaMC for about a year, but always been annoyed by some critical limitations (VOB, subchannels, etc). After downloading SageTV a few weeks ago, I was very impressed by the functionality...but not the interface. The wife really liked the VMC interface.
After stumbling on this thread and applying SageMC 6.3.7....the Sage experience is awsome. Great WAF now !! Now if the extenders would come back in stock...need 3 to complete my transition to Sage!
I would like to thank all the members that have put in all the hard work with this!

Also I have an issue that both of my Upcoming/Recent buttons are scaled to the same number (1.3) and I can't get them to align is there a way to align them?
You have a couple of options.
1. Hit the guide button (ctrl-x on the keyboard) to toggle to fine adjustment. Then go ahead and adjust the positions until the y values matche.
-or-
2. Bring up the move/scale popup and press a number key to jump to the corresponding location on screen. (1 = top left , 2 = top center, 3 = top right, 4 = mid-screen left, 5 = center, 6 = midscreen right, 7 = bottom left, 8 = bottom center, 9 = bottom right) In your case, hit number 7. From there you can move it to the location you want. If you do this to both the recent and upcoming recordings objects, then they will both start out with the same location reference ( x = 0.0, y = 1.0) and they should then be easy to align.
I would also like to see the RSS Feed Scrollbar movable and scalable. If I have My upcoming recording close to the RSS ticker at the bottom. The Vertical seems to bleed into the Upcoming/Recent recording tabs any way to fix this?
This is an artifact of the way the ticker is animated. I will probably address it for the next major release, as it is pretty complicated. And yes, we will make it movable/scalable as well. ;)

Just upgraded to MC 6.3.7 and the layout of my main menu items is "stretched" vertically. There used to be space at the very top and bottom of the list (using the MCE menu style) that was open so that as you scrolled through the menu items they never went all the way to the top/bottom of the screen. Now it stretched much closer to the top/bottom, with the result being that there's much more space between each menu item - much more than I would want. is there any way to modify this, or change it back to the spacing that was used before 6.3.7?
EDIT - basically I want to do what PgUp/PgDn do, except for the vertical spacing instead of the horizontal.

Scale the whole thing down (PgDn in the move/scale popup). If the menu gets too narrow when you do this, go to its customize button and there you can adjust the width.

Like some people above exporting my menu's is broken...it'll export what i have on my client but not my main sage running with server ...i have the latest JARs.
Also since I upgraded to the most recent version when I use options>aspect ratio on a video screen then select the aspect ratio...the ration switches however the option box stays on the screen, only until i right click my mouse does it go away(does not work with the remote).

I got an issue and I am not sure if it was something I did in the settings or it appeared after I upgraded to SageMC (I used the full package).
It seem lots of my texts mostly in menu list is shorten and chopped off.
Example
When playback ended and I am prompt with a menu what to do with the recording and most of the time I select delete then I am prompted with another menu delete and set watch / wrong recording etc.
The "Delete and Set Watched" had been chopped down to "Delete and set wat..." and I recalled seeing the whole text in earlier SageMC version and it not the only one there some other options that been chopped down in other menus also some of my long recording titles in Schedule and Recorded show seem to be chopped down some too. I recalled seeing the whole title and plus the time it records or time it have recorded the show.
Like I said it probably something I did when I fiddled with the import thing or proabably somewhere in the setting and not SageMC and if that may be the case can someone point out where I could readjust the size the menu box so I can see the whole text again? I have looked at lots of settings but I am sure there lot more settings I have not discovered yet or overlooked.
Thank you

I'm having the same problem, on both the HD & SD extenders. Clients work perfectly fine, just no so on the MVP or STVX100. It was suggested it was an older .jar file in the mix, but I'm only using the .jars from maybe on revision back of SageMC, and the .jars from the latest (with the updated import/export jar).
Mike and Dirk,
I am again pleading for help. I cannot get an external DVD player (TheaterTek) to properly launch from the SMC 6.3.7. They launched without problem from 6.3.6. Let me ask specific questions:
1. Did something change in the way SMC is sending information to external programs with this release?
2. Is there a way for me to see exactly what message SMC sends? I have a command line in the DVD command script that has %1 as the marker for SMC to place the selected file name. I would like to see what the message looks like when SMC adds the actual path to a selected movie.
3. Anyone who is using 6.3.7, are you able to use external programs?
This is a very important function for me. If I can't solve it, I will revert back to 6.3.6, but I would love to be able to enjoy the new customizations.

I keep getting a pop up error dialog everytime I hit "Home" on my setup/navigate back to the home menu.... this is on my Main server, I have tried replacing the jar file with the latest version, I've tried the one in the earlier posting by Dirk (I think) and the one from the sagemc "update" download.
I installed sagemc 6.3.7 from the "full" download because I didn't have sagemc loaded since my last fresh install of sage. I am running java v1.6.0_03 and sage's info shows I'm running v6.3.7 on both sagemc stv and sagemc jar... I stopped the service each time and then tried to reboot the whole computer this last time, no luck.
This happened this morning out of the blue.. no changes, and I've been enjoying the sagmc stv for a couple of days without this happening.
EDIT:
I sure wish we had the ability to delete stupid posts, I figured it out. seems that I HAD tried to load a different theme this morning which didn't look right (no grphics showing up) so I tried closing and opening the sage gui... this put me "back" to the default sagemc theme (or so I thought), For some reason when I was trying the different jar files and opening the sage gui it was reverting to the default theme when it should have been loading the ITV theme that I was trying to use,... oh never mind, just know this--I was getting the error because when I extracted the ITV theme I took the folder straight from the zip file and put it into the "themes" folder under sagemc (in a sense breaking the file structure completely). So one could imagine the "weird" stuff that I was seeing... funny how sagemc saw the ITV theme anyway, oh well. sorry for the "false" error post, all is well now

Just a quick note. I found a few scaling bugs in the text menus. They will be addressed in the next maintenance release. At that point, you may need to rescale your menu back, but you won't have any issues with menu items being spaced too far apart anymore.

A little of both :) The SetIcon function is still there, you just can't see it. Scroll to the bottom visible option and then scroll down once more, and you will be on it. The menu doesn't scroll, so if there are more than fit they are just offscreen and invisible!

The numbers are all a bit confusing being so close. SageTV v6.3.5+ (i.e. at least the current official SageTV release) is required with the current SageMC release. If you have SageMC 6.3.6b installed correctly, then you only need to install the update to v6.3.7. HTH

Either someone slipped me some really bad drugs, or something is messed up with menu sounds. I enabled them on my HD Extender's SageMC options, and then started moving through the menus. Didnt hear anything at first. Then I noticed a real faint sound as I was moving through the menus. Cranked my stereo volume up, no change. Then I realized the sounds were being played from my Sage Server PC's speakers in another room! While I can see the enjoyment factor of this if someone else is at the PC and I can send remote sounds to them, I really would prefer to hear the sounds from the HD Extender, and not from the server.
So is this a MC bug? Sage bug? Something else? I am not running service mode right now, just using the server's Sage GUI (which is a quasi-client right?).
Specs: Sage Server 6.3.7 (Windows)

Thanks! I have also just copied the dvd_player.cmd into the STV folder and added SageMC to the name. It works aslo.
The issue, though, seems to be in 6.3.7. I saved my 6.3.6 set-up so I can easily switch back and forth between the two versions, and 6.3.6 consistently works while 6.3.7 does not. I even went back and installed the full 6.3.7 install instead of the update, but the problem persisted.
I have a work around now, and this may be something weird on my system only. But if it is a true bug, I hope it can be fixed so others don't have this problem also.

SageMC 6.3.7I believe sound effects from the GUI have always worked this way. They play on the server since that is where the STV code resides and executes from. The extenders just display graphics and stream files and since the sound effects are not streamed they playback on the server.

You need to think outside the box! Run a set of speak wire from you Server location to all of your viewing locations, and pipe the sounds in that way! No compromises! :D

I am a VERY new SageTV user (I just switched over from MCE). First let me say thank you for this great add-in, without SageMC I don't think I would have switched.
I noticed a little problem with SageMC version 6.3.7. If I go to My TV, then Recorded TV, then Series, there appears to be a problem with the "highlight" (sorry I don't know what the real name it) feature when selecting a series from the list on the right hand side. With the default SageMC theme, you can read the words when a series is highlighted, but they are really faint. However, with any of the other theme's (BlueTwo, BlackMyst Mod, etc), none of the words show up when highlighted.
If this isn't clear, or if this is a problem only with my system, please let me know. I am very new to SageMC so there is a good chance I did something wrong. Also, if there is any other information I can provide, or something else I can do to help, please let me know.
I'm running...
SageTV Version 6.3.5.159
Java Version 1.6.0_03
SageMC STV Version 6.3.7
SageMC JAR Version 6.3.7

How does SageMC decide when to display the "Please insert the DVD" message when trying to play offline dvds? If I specify an offline folder, enable "auto-import offline" in the SageMC options, and then import an offline dvd through the video menu options, if I try to play the resulting offline dvd, it shows that nice "Please insert the DVD" message. However, if I go to my offline folder and cut/paste the .mpg and .jpg so that I can move them into a sub-folder (so that my offline dvds can be in a sub-folder called "DVDs" and not at the top level of my videos), it no longer shows that message when I try to play them. Instead, it starts trying to play it and gives a nasty playbackException error.
What's the logic on how this distinction is made, and is there a way that I can put the offline dvds in a sub-folder of the videos list and still keep the "Please insert the DVD" behavior for them?

Hi and welcome to our little fiefdom. :)
That issue is an artifact of the new animation system. If the text isn't placed in the correct layer, it will be drawn behind the highlight. We have been trying to systematically go through SageMC to fix this, bet I'm sure there are still a few that were missed. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

I don't know what causes this, but I have noticed a pattern with SageMC and the HD extender. I have the latest firmware, well, a couple of days old firmware, and I noticed the extender will not come out of standby sometimes when SageMC is running as the theme. I tested this a couple of times in the past few days, and thought it might be the extender/firmware, but when I switched back to the default theme, standby mode hasn't locked up since. I am not sure how to tell you to reproduce this other than to hit the power button on the extender remote while watching tv, as if your going to bed, then come back a while later and try to power it up. I had to switch the power switch on the back to get it back.

Sound familiar to anyone?Do you happen to be using the Winamp add-on? I had to stop using it because of similar issues.

It looks something significant was changed related to fonts. SageMC fonts dont display correctly anymore for me after the upgrade.

ui/min_allowed_shrunk_font_size=14BTW: only ui/min_allowed_shrunk_font_size is valid. The other one is a left-over that the default STV is using from before the property name was changed. The default STV needs to be changed to match it.

I have a few questions about customizing SageMC.
In this post, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=254545&postcount=6
mkanet has a guide with different colors and a generally more aesthetically pleasing style. Is this available by changing some settings in SageMC? Or, was this created using some other method and then imported into SageMC? If it's the latter, can someone point me to a guide or something about creating such customizations?
Is there a way to place the guide on the main menu?
I'm able to change the names for the main menu items on the main menu. For example, I changed "my TV" to just "TV." But when I go to that menu, it says "my TV" at the top. Is there a way to change the submenu to have "TV?"
Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,
1) You can make your guide colorful by downloading and using the images in the below link:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=90
I used the glassy guide bar set included in that download. This all was provided by Meinmaui from this forum. :)
2) You can put a menu item called, "Guide" on the main menu. You can do this by right-clicking on the main menu screen and selecting, "Main Menu Options". Then select, New.. and "New Internal Screen". Then just select "Guide".
3) If I'm not mistaken, the only way to change the "My TV" text in the My TV menu would be to edit it in SageTV "Studio". Studio, is a programming tool thats provided with your SageTV which gives you access to the STV (in our case SageMC) code. You can access it by pressing Control-Shift-F12. I personally get a bit intimidated using Studio. You would REALLY have to be motivated to make changes there since if you dont do something right, youll probably end up breaking something else in SageMC.
Have fun...

In the SageMC options in the settings screen there are options to enable guide coloring, along with options to enable channel logos in the guide.
There are even two options in how the guide is colored - image or property. You don't have to download anything extra to use the property version.

You can show the logo in the guide by setting Settings->Sage MC->Main->Screen Specific Options->EPG->Show Channel Logo in EPG. This requires that you have the logos installed in the Channel Logos folder.

Okay,
I got the colored guide figured out - of course it was already built in because these guys think of everything :thumb:
Now, I'm still not sure on the channel logos. Here's what I've done so far:
1. Downloaded a logo set from this thread (http://forums.freytechnologies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8186), extracted the zip file and put all of the image files into the SageTV/SageTV/ChannelLogos directory.
2. Went to the Settings->Sage MC->Main->Screen Specific Options->EPG->Show Channel Logo in EPG
And enabled that option
3. Went back to the guide and I don't see the logos. I tried shutting down SageTV and Services and restarting, but still don't see them.
What am I doing wrong or missing?
EDIT: I am seeing a few of the logos, but not all. Do I need to rename some of them to the channel name (eg CBS should be renamed to KCTV etc?

I have been using High Resolution Images for my video's but on my HDTV and my HD Extender they look kinda funny. The images are all around 700X1200. I am thinking this has something to do with the image resizing done within Sage . .. is there a reccomended resolution that people use that makes the images look nicer when the videos are configured to show 3 rows of 4 movies? Thanks!

Okay,
I got the colored guide figured out - of course it was already built in because these guys think of everything
I am attempting to do the same thing with the guide. I looked at the post above with all the different colors in the guide. However, I'm just trying to have sports and movies show up as different colors so I didn't copy all the files.
Now I'm a little confused on how to implement this. I found the options in SageMC that seem to control this.
Guide Coloring = Enabled
Guide Coloring Method = Image
Now how do I use the images to change the guide color? I looked in "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE\Themes\Default" and I think I found all the images, however, I can't tell what images control the guide colors. Also, once I find the images that control the guide colors, I assume I have to add something in the filename so that it will be used. Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm not clear how this works.
Also, on the main SageMC development post, there is a link to a wiki. Unfortunately, that link doesn't work. Is there really a wiki somewhere that talks about some of the SageMC options? This would be extremely helpful to new people like myself. I'm a little overwhelmed by all the options available to me - of course, it's also the thing that makes SageMC so great (WMC didn't have anything as nice as this).

I had the directory correct for the SageMC default theme. Then you just need to copy in the images with the appropriate names. I didn't think it was working because I downloaded the images in this link (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/down...?do=file&id=90), however, there isn't an image for the category "sports events" so when it didn't change color, I didn't think it was working. I just copied one of the sports files and renamed it (adding sports events) and everything worked great.
Thanks again for such a great application.

I know most (if not all) of them are in the PDF manual, but for my own "Monk-like" need for easy documentation ;) I'm making my own, compact version that I'll share once completed. It's quite easy to revert back. Just load the default SageTV3.xml and that's it.
Here are a few tips for installing SageMC:
1. It is always a good idea to make a full copy of your SageTV directory before doing anything.
2. Download and install the latest release of Java 1.6. (I think it is 1.6.0_4 now)
3. Download and install the full SageMC package (available here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=141)), following the directions listed.

There usually aren't any incompatibilities, but it can take some time to implement new features that are introduced.
Note also that we should be releasing an update to SageMC pretty soon (in the next week or two). You might want to wait for that if you would rather not deal with updating SageMC right away.
Good Luck!

Maybe when Dirk updates the download to the latest version and edits the info to show the new version info, the date of the current release could be added to the description. That would help show that it really is the current version avail and not a 1 year old STV.

I just installed SageMC for the first time and I have to say it's very different than the default STV! I haven't had a lot of time to spend with it but I was struck by the many different options.
I was a little lost manuevering through the menu system and I did get the sense that a back icon would have helped as I use a wireless keyboard/mouse combination and I kept having to hit a back arrow key rather than using my mouse to click on something to go back up the menu hierarchy.
I also miss my Malore two column recording view but I see that there is an STVi for that.
One thing that I don't know how to do is set-up the e-mail parameters. Where do I do that?
Lastly, I reverted back to default just to see if it would be seemless and it was but I was confused as to why I have 6 different SageTV3-#.xml. versions? I saw that SageTV3-6.XML was default for my server but SageTV3-5.xml was default for my HD-1000. What is the difference?

Oh! So it's no big deal then as all I've been doing is importing Comskip after I upgrade to a new Beta or Official version.

Check if you have "Update Music Queue" enabled in the global SageMC Behavior settings. If it is, disable it and see if it makes a difference...

Bump in case this question was over looked.
Thanks in advance.
The data is actually stored in the wiz.bin file. Unfortunately, since the data is not stored with the files themselves. If the location gets moved on disk, you will lose your information and have to re-download. In addition, I have notice that when you first do an IMDB search it takes two passes for the info to stick. The first pass will download the picture and store the information. Unfortunately, the next time sage refreshes your video directories, it will see the new folder picture. When it sees this it re-imports the directory/file and all the properties stored in the wiz.bin will get overwritten. I second download will then store the information and it will stick. Perhaps this is what you are seeing?
There is also the ability to store and read .my files which may workaround this issue. I haven't played around with this enough to see if this is a valid solution.

As a follow on to my previous post. I wish we could update SageMC so when it stores the info downloaded from IMDB for movies it stores the rating. I assume that SageMC uses nielm's IMDB search plugin. Which means the information is available. If I use JREWiki's RW meta data plugin on the default STV it properly stores the rating in the wiz.bin. SageMC, however, does not.

I'm working on a "cheatsheet" of keyboard shortcuts as well as commands for SageTV. I know most (if not all) of them are in the PDF manual, but for my own "Monk-like" need for easy documentation ;) I'm making my own, compact version that I'll share once completed. Reason I'm posting here is I wanted to see if there are any specific commands or keyboard shortcuts that are unique to SageMC. Anyone know of any or are they pretty much the same as what you have in the default STV?
Don't know if any of those are new to anybody, but here are a few:
in almost all screens: Custom1->My TV, Custom2->Recorded TV, Custom3->Movies (unless you have it mapped differently, e.g. ticker/ weather)
if "Channel entry" is enabled in the dynamic main menu options, you can enter a channel number from the main menu and SageMC will start playing that channel
"Info" in recordings screens: toggle watched bars
"Custom4" in Guide: toggle Guide by channel
"Options" while the Mini Guide is displaying: open options for Mini Guide
"Middle mouse click" on the 'Play' symbol of the OSD time bar: open stop dialog
"Mouse click" on 'Stop' icon in stop dialog: Stop
"Info" in 'Now Playing' menu: toggle Cover/Detail view
"Up/Down" and "Skip Fwd/Skip Back" in picture library (full screen view): advance to previous/next picture
"Info" in in picture library (full screen view): toggle picture file info
"Info" in 'Program Info' menu: cycle info none->ShowInfo->FileInfo
"Info" in 'Video Library' View: toggle online/offline icons
in most subfolder views (e.g. picture library, music library file view, 'Grouped' recordings): "Skip Back" brings you back to parent folder without leaving current control
Program Info (reached from a list of shows): "Skip Back / Skip Fwd" shows info of previous/next show in list

There is a "hidden" back spot on every menu in the upper left corner for mouse users. Or you can add a "Back" button to your menu if you are using the dynamic main menu. Or, last but not least, you can use Mike's great SageMC toolbar (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24825) if you need more functionality.
One thing that I don't know how to do is set-up the e-mail parameters. Where do I do that?

Thanks for the assistance! :)
Firstly thank you so much to the sagemc devs - sagemc is simply unbelievable. You've no idea how many media centers I've tried before finding the sage/sagemc combination. Also, the latest main menu config options are really the icing on the cake for me - incredible stuff!
As always though there are little things you'd like to tweak, here's my current list, looking to see if any of these might be planned/picked up in the main development or whether I should just have a go at customising mine:
- Settings menu option - Ideally once you've got things setup you wouldn't go there very much, so I'd rather not have this as a normal main menu icon. Is there any possibility of having it on the menu that comes up when you push esc on the main menu (currently only has 2 options to customise the main menu)?
- The exit sage text is cut off on mine for some reason - maybe the exit options menu can be made a bit wider
- You can rename the menu options, but this isn't picked up on the launched screen - eg if I change My TV to just TV, the My TV screen still has the heading "My TV". I understand the main menu is kind of separate in config terms from the rest so there's probably no easy way to do this.
- Conflict resolution: I'd like the guide to indicate shows which will not be recorded due to a confict (even once the conflict has been resolved) (perhaps using the unresolved conflict icon or preferrably a new "will not record" icon) - the same icon could then be used when showing the item on the "Schedule (conflicts)" screen for consistency.
- I like the way the standard STV shows the guide snippet on the conflict resolution page - I like this better than the text only description in SageMC - even if it was illustrative only (ie you cant click in it to manage the conflict). Was that just too much hassle to reimplement in SageMC?
- I've noticed after resolving a conflict the "upcoming recordings" section of the My TV page needs an extra refresh to show the final situation (maybe nothing can be done about this and it is just down to the time it takes the conflict resolution process to complete) it's not a big deal in any case...
- Ability to customise the size of the title logos (I've reduced mine from 1.0 to 0.85 as I just think the standard ones look too big)
Can I also make a suggestion - not sure what others will think of this - but maybe SageMC is big enough to warrant it's own forum under SageTV Customisations - that way we can post things in separate threads instead of posting everything in this one which is so big now no new user will ever trawl through and has many different conversations going at once.
Cheers,
Madz

I Just upgraded to 6.3.7 & everything looks great!! Fantastic Job guys !!
I am having 1 issue that I can't figure out tho...
Comskip has stopped working!! Cursor Comskip still works, the bar is there & you can see the commercial breaks, but automatic comskip simply will not work!
I've tried enabling & disabling it in the settings etc but no joy.
I even re installed 6.3.7 using the full package.
I'm running the latest RC 6.3.8 of Sage
If I load the stock STV & use the comskip STVI it works, So I'm stumped!!
Help!! :bang:

Bug report:
-The Sort channels in reverse order option for the guide does not appear to be working in the latest version for me.
Love SageMC, but I would like to be able to :
- Delete DVD's (dvd-video files that have been ripped to a folder)
- Press the 'Record' button straight on a program and have it add the padding settings. (Currently you have to choose record from the program menu for the pading settings to stick)
- When I record a program the channel settings is set to 'Any', instead of the the channel I chose to record on, ie. SevenHD. This causes the record icon to be added to the wrong channel sometimes. (Because I have Seven, SevenHD, SevenDigital2, etc)
Thanks again for an ace interface.

Loving SageMC so far. Thanks guys for all your work on this
You probably already have this on the list but it would be great to extend the "unwatched" filter to the imported video library if it's possible.

I meant to mention this a while ago but I ended up fixing this by going into the webserver - it shows the file path and allowed me to delete the non-existant files from the wiz.bin...

When the HD100 first came out there were a lot of people that had the same problem. I'm not sure what ever fixed it for them, but the chatter died down about it.....
You can try configuring the default on the server instead of from the extender - that might do the trick.

I've never seen this ask, but it's something I would love to be able to configure. In sageMC I can activate a bar showing the amount of disk space available. Since I let sage auto-delete as needed it's useless for me sitting at full all the time. Is there a setting I can change that would include the Auto-Delete (already watched) shows in the 'free space' category? Then the bar would basically be showing me when I'm getting close to deleting unwatched programs which is all I really care about.
If it's not possible, can we file this under request for a future feature. I'm no coder but it doesn't sound that hard to make happen :D

Is there a direct command to disable comskip for a program being watched?
For example, currently, if I want to disable comskip while watching a show, I press enter and then scroll down to "disable commercial skip" and then press enter again.
I'm wondering if there's a direct command under all that so I could program a button on my remote so it's a single button click.
(I could create a macro, but I'm generally weary of macros that require scrolling.)
Thanks,
Mitch

Hi All,
Love SageMC.. but im not using it :( 2 Reasons that bug me, but not sure if its just me or if its common.
1: Setting a Series to record. When I change Anytime to select a time.. it seems to only let me select one random time.. e.g. 13:45 and Anytime.. if I go out and back in I can select 1 more random time, e.g. 7:00 and Anytime. This is when shows are on 1st runs and reruns, and some are on twice a day.. so surely I should be able to cycle through all of the available times right? It works in default sage by just letting you select the hour that the show is on, rather than giving me a time.
2: Live TV is fine on the Server, no issues, but on the Client, I hit Live TV and it starts in the past.. dont know how it works this out, maybe from the start of the recording of the show thats on, but I then have to hit right skip a few times to catch it up with live TV..(For Example.. Im watching simpsons downstairs.. watch 80% of it and go upstairs to the client.. hit live TV and the client starts simpsons from maybe 20% of the way through and I have to skip skip skip to get to where I was live downstairs!) When I hit Live TV on the Default Sage on the client it does just that, goes to Live TV.. not 20 mins ago recorded Live TV.. Is this a feature or a bug or a configurable item?
Anyone know a fix for the above?
Thanks
Martin

So, is there a way to set defaults for the Series settings?
For example, is there a way to set things up so that recording First Runs instead of "First Runs and Reruns" is the default behavior when recording a series?I second this request. I believe I asked before and it was shot down as ridiculous.

I use the HD extender, and there is one problem that I keep running into with SageMC that I wish could be solved:
The on-screen keyboard. It only does numbers and single-case letters.
Is there any way to get a more full-featured on-screen keyboard? Since extender users have no option to use a physical keyboard, there are some situations in SageMC where they are completely unable to enter important input. For example, the date/time format preferences can't be changed in any meaningful way. Also, things like the prefixes and postfixes for fields look odd because they are unicase (ie: "SHOWS" vs. "Shows"). In general, I also just find the existing layout difficult to use.
To avoid using an excessive amount of screen real-estate, but still offer the needed flexability, I would suggest something like this as a layout:
! @ # $ % ^ & * CAPS _ - + / * =
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 ( ) [ ] { } < >
q w e r t y u i o p ; : ' "
a s d f g h j k l . , / ?
z x c v b n m
<SPACE> <BACKSPACE> <ACCEPT> <CANCEL>
OR (for those who don't like the qwerty layout)
! @ # $ % ^ & * CAPS _ - + / * =
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 ( ) [ ] { } < >
a b c d e f g h i j ; : ' "
k l m n o p q r s t . , / ?
u v w x y z
<SPACE> <BACKSPACE> <ACCEPT> <CANCEL>
I think this would hit the right note between minimum navigation and maxium flexability. Ideally you want to use the least number of clicks on the remote to enter your input. Having the numbers and symbols always visible eliminates alot of clicks.
Note #1: Not every key is represented here; just the ones people are likely to use.
Note #2: The CAPS button would toggle between uppercase letters and lowercase letters. Everything else would remain the same (nothing is worse than having to enter a series of numbers and letters and having the numbers change to symbols -- this is particularly annoying for Canadian postal codes).

Switch to numeric entry by pushing the pause key. Use the guide button to toggle between upper and lower case. You can enter any character you need now.

IMDB Search is great, as is the auto downloading of images for films. Unfortunately it does this automatically for programmes which aren't films so you end up with odd images e.g. 'Horizon' (documentary) is now displaying the cover for 'Event Horizon' the movie.
Any chance of a configuration item so auto download is only done for Movies/Films? XMLTV importer puts 'Movie: ' in the title for all films, I presume those with better guide data may have them tagged by category?
Ultimately an IMDB style zsori.com or tv.com lookup would be neat, very neat!

First of all, THANK YOU for such an awesome stv :thumb: It's obviously a labor of love, but a ton of work! We are all grateful.
One suggestion thinly veiled as a question.
What is your thinking behind storing all of the new customization features (positioning / scaling) directly into the main properties file?
Wouldn't it make more sense to store all of that data in the new theme.properties file?
My thinking is:
1. Easier experimentation. I could create 2 copies of a theme, one that is "last good release", and one that is a work in progress. When I am done tinkering at night, I can just switch back to the last good theme until I am ready.
2. Easier distribution of themes among users. Right now it seems a theme would have to include not only the contents of the theme folder, but also a layout file which would have to be loaded as well. Plus, a theme would include all (or most) SageMC GUI options.
3. Easy to return to a base configuration. The default themes would put everything back to default. Important when messing around with so many options at 2AM!

I've got some new movies to add the my collection, and now the file format of DVD Profiler has changed...
With all the traffic going on with people using DVD Profiler 3, I just stayed away from it...but it looks like I will be forced to upgrade.
Questions.
Is DVD Profiler 3 now compatible with SageMC?
Is DVD Profiler 3 still available in a free version?
Thanks!

Yes, I'm using DVD Profiler 3 with SageMC currently
I don't think so.
It does appear they have a free version, after a little research...
Now, it appears that they have switched locations for the media, and that is now stored in My Documents.
I have shared the "DVD Profiler" that is in My Documents (DVD Profiler is on another computer, not the HTPC), and made sure that the path for DVD Profiler was set to \\\\StudyPC\\DVD Profiler, but it doesn't bring up new images for DVD's that I've added. Do I have to dive deeper into that directory for SageMC to know where to get the images?
