First post.. Just bought sagetv to load onto my Athlon XP 2100/256mb/Hauppage 350 computer. The confirmation email directed me to a gentoo iso download; the web site says its a 380mb sagetv iso for a new install, can anyone confirm?
I download (wget) the install profile and load gentoo and reboot into the new installation but then gentoo can't connect to the internet, so I can't wget the sagesetup.sh file, needed to carry on. it seems as if gentoo will not see eth0 and i'm unable to alter any network settings.
I've reached this stage a couple of times now; tried installing gnome in order to change eth0 settings but no use. I've installed a diferent network card, but just the same. How can i carry on with the install, as its looking like i've wasted $79 dollars otherwise.. any help would be gratefully recieved!

I was under the impression that you download the ISO, burn the image to CD (make bootable CD) and then instal from CD.

That's all you should need to do. That and post in the Sage Linux thread for these questions.

In case this is needed, the Linux installation instructions can be found here:

I have not done the Sage Gentoo build, but during a normal when you select your kernel settings, you would also select your drivers. Do you have one compiled for your net adapter? Did you add it to the autoload?

I had the same issue when I installed yesterday. I ended up doing a new install but I manually configured the ethernet adapter with the IP info instead of using DHCP. After that the system worked okay and I was able to complete the installation.

Thats what I thought as well! I can't find a link to the 'new install' iso, described as a 380mb download which will install sage tv plus os which will replace the os on my machine. Fine by me.
I can only find a link to the gentoo live CD install, then sage installed on top of that. Am I missing something? is there a link I've not seen? Thanks

I used the live cd 2006.0 to complete the installation.

Thanks for that, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad someone else had the same problem! Do you mean entering the info in the gentoo network setup screen (quite an early screen, sorry no more detail, never used gentoo before..) It says 'my network is up and running' or enter details. The ip, netmask etc were already entered so it seemed the network card had been set up already.
I'll do as you suggest and try again. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Thats the one I used. I've got a few things to try, curtesy of the replies I've recieved, when I'm home from work tonight.
Thanks again for the replies everyone.
