I've recently put together a SageTV system with an old PIII 650, 512MB Ram, a PVR 350, Matrox G400, and the Actysis to control my Motorola Digital Cable box.

I was getting everything setup (and looking forward to setting up my favorites, etc) but I can't get the Actysis to respond very quickly. Using the preconfigured setting in Sage, the Actysis does make the channel changes during a test, but it takes 20 seconds to change the channel, and Sage seems to lock up while testing (I'm unable to move via remote or mouse)

I've tried reprogramming with all the various tap and press methods I read about on these forums to try to get quicker response, but it's always the same 20 to 25 second delayed response. I've even tried altering the baud rates in the COM port settings, and moving the Acytsis from COM 1 to COM 2. Always the same results.

At any rate it's getting very frustrating. I mean I expect some delay but 20 seconds is simply unacceptable. So I'm hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction to resolve this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I did a quick search on the term, and found a couple of short threads.

Please let me know how it goes as I will be getting one in the mail shortly.

Thanks.

I thought the delay I have was annoying... a couple of seconds.
There is no hardware limitation in a modern PC that would cause a 2 or 3 second delay in transfering a few bits serially, let alone a 20 second delay. I suspect that the delay is caused intentionally in the program to insure the correct transmission of the data, it is probably doing some repeating. In your case there could be some processes running in the background that are slowing the interupt. ( I was having longer delays until I realized that Norton Antivirus and some other things were the culprit.)

The general delay could have something to do with sending one number at a time to the receiver. I did mention this problem in an earlier post, I think it was NARFLEX that said that the delay was about the same as on his old REPLAY TV. but my replay system was almost instantaneous with the ir blaster, I have never achieved anything like that with the 200IRL.

Thanks for your responses. I've read every thread I could find on the IR Blaster hoping to find the culprit.

Mike, I'll double check any background processes but I there shouldn't be anything running but Sage and the IR control. I did a clean install of XP Pro SP1 when I installed the PVR350 and have the box dedicated to SageTV.

I think I'll also try using the hardware video out on the 350 (I've been using the G400 to get the OSD) and see if it's a CPU processing issue. It is a fairly slow processor (PIII 650).

If that doesn't fix it, I'll go for broke and try the direct serial connection to the box with the plugin posted here on the forums. Barring that, I guess I'll give up on my premium stations and do a straight cable run and use the WinTV tuner.

Thanks again for your help.
