Hi all.
I need to know what i am doing wrong. Firstly :
1 - Go to " My Tv "
2 - Select " Guide "
3 - Click on show to record
4 - Select " Record Series "
Done..

Now, when i go to " Series Settings --> Other Showings ", there are three more showings listed, but only 2 of them are marked to be recorded. The third one has to be done manually.

This is just one example. My wife is a Big Brother fan. When the series are selected, there are 4 other showings but none are selected for recording.

Why is this happening ?

Also, what is the icon with a " 4 " inside it ?

thank you

How long are you waiting after setting up the series before you check the other showings? In my experience, sage can take up to several minutes to set up new recordings. Before that, they won't show up as being scheduled.

There are a number of other possible reasons why the shows might not be scheduled such as: it is already marked as 'Watched', it has the same show ID as another scheduled airing, conflicts with a higher prioity favorite or manual recording, to name a few.

By default the recording schedule only looks ahead about 48hrs unless SageTV has to resolve a conflict. Then it will look ahead the full 2wks to find another airing of the same show. (You can change this so that sage always looks ahead the full 2 wks with a properties setting. I can't remember it right now, but I can look it up if you want it.) HTH

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: The numbered icons tell you which tuner/encoder will be used to record the program.

Thanks for the help Mike.
I currently have 4 tuners in my SageTv server, all of which can record at the same time. I have tested this and is working fine.
Now, pretend for a minute that i have no scheduled recordings of any kind.
It makes no difference what show i select. Now, as i am typing this message, i will demonstrate :
1 - I select " My Tv "
2 - Select " Guide "
3 - Go to show i never watch ( days of our lives ) and select it
4 - Select " Record Series "
5 - Select " Other Showings "
6 - Bang !! only one showing selected for recording, BUT there a three showings in total over 3 separate days.

This rules out the show as being " Watched " as the cause of the problem.

Check the other showings list again in about 10 minutes and see if more airings are picked up for recording. (Or go back and check the other series you already have set up.) It will probably still be the same, but I'd just like to rule it out.

P.S. In case you want it, that property setting (in sage.properties) to get the full 14 day look ahead is

scheduling_lookahead=1209600000

That is 14 days in milliseconds.

Thanks Mike, but my guide is only a weekly guide.

Sorry Mike, but i think we have our wires crossed lol

The " other showings " are already picked up and visible.. the problem is that they are not marked to be recorded.

cheers :)

Ah, I didn't know that. You can change the millisecond value to match the actual length of your guide if you want. (i.e. 604800000 = 7 days)

Yup, that's what I meant. :) Sage can take several minutes to mark airings to be recorded.

Fair enough... It's good to know if we are on the same wavelength.. :D

Anyway, nothing has changed yet.. it's been over 10 minutes.

Any other ideas ?

I have attached the icons i am talking about.
The Red one is the one next to the show marked to be recorded.
The Grey one is next to the other showings in that series.

The red one means it is a series recording that is scheduled to be recorded. The grey one means that it is a series recording, but that particular episode will not be recorded. So it means that the shows were recognized (which is good. That narrows things down.), but sage had a reason to decide not to record those particular episodes. Usually it is because there is another airing of the same episode already set to be recorded, but any of the other reasons I mentioned in my previous post could also be in play.

Mike

Are you sure they are different episodes? Are some marked as reruns, and series settings to no record reruns?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike..
I am pretty sure they are different episodes because they are airing on different days.
I will to do a complete re-format tonight when the kids are asleep.
During my transition stage from MCE to SageMC, i have played with many settings. There is every chance that i may have done something to cause this.

This could be an issue with your guide data source marking shows as being the same. I know I sometimes have this issue in the UK with our xmltv feed. Another issue I run into is recording the same show multilple times as they are given different ID when they should be the same.

Right. that could be the case.
How do you work around that ?
