Another PVR for the world!! Things are getting interesting.
I participated in the first public chat session tonight and got some of the details

MPEG4 hardware encoding and decoding.
DVD to MPEG4 on the fly conversion.
Network capability
PVR functions
VCR to MPEG4
Playback of MPEG1,2,4
OpenGL based overlay for 3d effects
just to name a few......
AOL instant messenger on the screen while you watch tv......

Those 3D effects would get old pretty quick, especially trying to navigate arround quickly. MPEG4 recording would be nice though.

Yeah, rumor has it they are looking for a better way to do those transitions.

Maybe they should look at the Xbox menu transitions, those are some of the only animated transitions I can think of that I like.

I have seen too much promissed great software before. I am about to buy Sage TV. I never even consider software that a company is talking about, but does not even have a demo. Way to much Vaperware. When they have a demo I will consider moving over.

Actually it's not a software package, it's a STB, so you would have to get the box to see it in action.
