View Full Version : MVP FF/Rev behavior

I just purchased a wired MVP. Searching the forum, I haven't yet found a tweak for these issues:

With Sage UI running on the server, the WAF is great for the way FF works: skips in large amounts: 30 sec or 10 sec depending on the button.
But on the MVP, FF is a continuous 10 sec. skip, kind of like a VCR. It takes too long to skip commercials or back and forth within a program. Is there a way to change an MVP property or some such to make it behave like the UI on the server, for skipping forward and backwards?

Also, is this abnormal... on the MVP, each 10 second skip forward causes the screen to display mpeg compress blocks (large pixelation) for most of one second before motion video resumes?

Sage version is the most current: 6.1.9.143. LAN connection from MVP is wired, 100BT.

TIA

The "smooth" fast-forward is only suppose to be for one of the buttons. At least on mine, the other button is still a 2.5 minute skip. I've had the MVP for a while, so its possible that I changed something and I don't remember.

You can link the remote buttons to different commands using Setup- Detailed Setup - Commands, while using the MVP.

Personally, I prefer the smooth fast foward. Usually one 2.5 minute jump and a couple seconds of fast-forward is enough to get through commercials.

on mine, the buttons below the smooth (!) FF/RW were 10 seconds. I found how to change that. I need to find how to change the upper buttons to not be smooth, but rather the upper and lower are 10 and 30 seconds jumps. Smooth, as is, isn't useful.

Did you look at the commands section of the setup menu? I'm pretty sure you can link the fast forward button to the standard fast forward option. I believe by default the button is set to "smooth ff" (when using an MVP). If that doesn't work tell me and I'll try some different things, but I'm pretty sure that should work.

I'm curious, what don't you like about smooth ff? Is it because it doesn't back up a little bit when you hit play, like other implementations often do?

yes, I looked. Maybe I need to look harder/longer.

Smooth FF is nice, but it needs to be in addition to, not instead of, skip 10 and skip 30 seconds - to skip commercials, mostly. I could probably hack the buttons, but the WAF requires that smooth FF as a new feature not take away that which has been satisfactory and depended upon.

I had the name of the command wrong. Link the fast forward button to Skip Fwd/Page Right. Thats the 10 second skip for me. Skip Fwd #2 is the 2.5 minute jump for me.

Thanks, I will. If the MVP ever boots again.
