View Full Version : PlaceShifter 6.1.9.134 ghosting effect
I am using PlaceShifter 6.1.9.134 on a Windows XP SP2 machine. And I get a ghosting effect (the previous screen stays there, as a watermark), as if the screen would not refresh. Text and graphics keeps stacking up, as you go through the menus (see attached screenshot)
Same software, same network, same server on another client machine - no problem.
Any hints?
Thanks

You probably have the hidden features turned on and the file pointed to by the ui/background_image property doesn't exist.
Either clear the property or choose an image at Detailed Setup -> Customize -> Set Background Image.

Well, yes, I use the hidden features. And I use the iSage STV. But...
1. From the HTPC itself (machine A), (using SageTV and not PlaceShifter), it works fine (seeing the iSage GUI)
2. From machine B (on the network, using PS), it also works fine. I also see the iSage GUI
3. From machine C (on the network, using PS), thats were I get the gosthing effect. I dont see the iSage GUI. Only the basic Sage screens. Using the same PS id...
I trind uninstalling from this machine, wipe all traces of Sage, and re-install. No progress there, same results.
I looked for the settings you mention. This applies to all sessions (or clients). It's not specific to a PS user. So if it works for 2, it should also work for the 3rd machine
Anything else?
Thanks for your time

Each PS location will have its own properties file, so you could still have some different settings for each UI. They don't all share the same properties file. Check the settings for the one that isn't displaying properly, if you didn't know about those proeprties files. Or, if you didn't try setting the BG image in the UI, as I mentioned above, then do that first.
BTW: If you didn't delete all the properties files on the server PC before reinstalling, including the ones int the 'clients' subdirectory, then reinstalling wouldn't have changed anything.

Finally found some time to play with this.
I deleted the properties file you pointed out. But it recreated itself wrong again. Then, I compared the file from the PC that was displaying ok with the one that is wrong. One had maybe 50 lines in it, the other 15. So I copied the content from the good one into the bad one. Reststared the PS client and magic, it's now working great.
Thanks for the pointers
