Hi there,

I'm after some advice...

The other day, inspired by the new theme arrangements in Sage MC I started to muck about with porting a skin Blue Two Dark Metal (http://www.mediaportal-skins.net/html/bluetwo_dark_metal.html) from http://www.mediaportal-skins.net/

The author ASiDiE has (along with the original author of Blue Two) done 99% of the work required for a SAGE MC theme.

I'm pretty happy with the way It's turned out so far and I'd like to make it available as a download but can't work out how to contact ASiDiE to seek permission. There's no license file in the original distribution package either :(

In these circumstances do you think it's okay to post the modified theme with full credit to ASiDiE and a promise to remove the offending material if it's an issue?

Mick.

I'd say yes, provided you've made a good effort to get in contact with him and left a message at the MP forums.

I would be *very* careful with that, based on past experiences with issues around MP themes... There is a Blue Two Dark Metal thread in the MP forums, try to get things started from there...

Actually, it seems he has to contact her ... ;)

Thanks Dirk,

I was looking on the wrong forums (on the site where I had found the download). I'll contact ASiDiE to seek permission to post.

Yay. I've managed to get in touch with ASiDiE who has graciously granted permission for her theme to be used in this port.

I've added BTDM to the download section here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=195).

This is a first go and looks okay on my machine. If you see anything that requires tweaking or is outright borked on your install please let me know.

I have not problems with this at all. It was originaly done by another guy.. but all he did is change the style sheet.. and not update the images. I went back through and did this.. but you can do with it as you will.

When you get around to it... send me the link to the sagetv post... want to see what people think about it.

Hi ASiDiE,

I found your Blue Two Dark Metal skin on http://www.mediaportal-skins.net/ and have been working on porting it to Sage MC. There are some pictures of what I've done so far here (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=240960#post240960). I would like your permission to make this theme available for download on the Sage forums (with full credit to you of course). Would this be okay?

Regards,

Mick.

Thanks to ASiDiE for permission.

I DL'ed it. Just waiting on some imports to get updated to work with 6.3.4 and I'll try it out.

How hard is it to convert an existing pre-6.3.4 theme to work with 6.3.4+?

Not too hard, you only have to rename or move a few files. Have a look at the "changes.txt" in the default theme folder, this should contain everything you need.

Cool. Doesn't look too hard at all.

Mick, quick question about this theme - does it work with SageMC 6.3.4?

Also, is it a complete theme or a beta (i.e. some parts are unfinished/unthemed)?

Thanks, it looks great from the screenshots by the way.

Thats what it is, a new SageMC 6.3.4+ theme.

From what I've seen in my limited usage, looks pretty complete.

Hi dkatchalov,

Blue Two Dark Metal requires 6.3.4 or later.

So far as I know it's complete. Let me know if you find anything that I've missed.

This is my favorite SageMC skin. I find it very easy on the eyes and my Plasma seems to like it too in that it buzzes a lot less with this theme than brighter ones. I wonder if the author or anyone else would make a V7 theme for the default STV based on this color scheme. Thanks!
