View Full Version : Remote for Sky Digital
I would like to use Sage TV with Sky Digital, would the USB-UIRT do the job for channel changing and if so does anyone know of a UK supplier.
TIA

USB-UIRT is the way to do it.
Unfortunately there is no UK supplier, and you could get stung by customs. Parcel force charged me an extra £21 to deliver the item (even after paying for postage in the US).

I use the RedEye serial IR controller to swithc channels on a Sky box using the EXETunerPlugin in SageTV to run a simple Java app.

Was running with a serial device (Actisys IR200L) for a few months, but went for the USBUIRT because:
- It is USB
- I don't have many serial ports
- But more importantly you can use power management (to automatically switch your HTPC off and on again automatically)
The UIRT is the best way to go, and is also very popular so you get lots of support from the forums such as these. Before you ask, no I am not on comission :), but I am trying to save you going through the same grief I did (oh the joys of HTPC's!!).
