I downloaded the latest version 1.2.8. Everything installed successfully; however, when I go to start SageTV nothing happens. The SageTV startup screen does not appear, no sagetv_0.txt file gets created, no error messages. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

Remove 1.2.8, and then re-install it. If it still doesn't work, go to the registry and create this setting as a DWORD value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Frey Technologies\Common\consolewin=1

it might give more error information then

Tried reinstalling and I got the same problem. I also tried the consolewin option, the window appeared and immediately disappeared. Nothing was displayed.

My current version of SageTV is Beta version 1.2.4 with a PVR-350, PIII-500 512 MB.

Make sure you have the java installed by going into the add and remove software. And check the version.

There are 2 Java entries in Add/Remove Programs.
Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.41_02
Java Web Start

You need to do a clean install. Remove SageTV, then delete everything in the Frey Technologies\SageTV folder EXCEPT Sage.properties, Wiz.bin and Wiz.bak. Then install SageTV 1.2.8.

Did not work. I tried removing/reinstalling 1.2.8 several times. I also tried redownloading 1.2.8 from the FTP site.

Do you have 1.2.7? I want to try installing a lower version to
see if I have problems with that. FYI 1.2.4 reloads and works fine.

Thanks

Do you care if you preserve your settings? If not, then just uninstall and delete the Frey Technologies folder, then install. That should fix your problem.

If you want to keep your settings, then you can just try deleting all of the mmc/ entries from the Sage.properties file. Then launch SageTV and go through the SetupWizard again. That might work. (deleting the whole folder should definitely work)

Did not work. I tried uninstalling 1.2.4, renaming the "Frey Tech"
to "Frey Tech Orig", and then installed 1.2.8. Got the same results. No win.bin, win.bak, properties, or savetv.txt files were created. Tried consolewin reg key but again the window disappears immediately. I did install the lastest version of winTV2000 app could this have anything to do with the problem?

It's quite possible. The only other place that their could be corrupted data is in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Frey Technologies

You can delete that and reinstall Sage to reinitialize those settings.

Still no luck. Deinstalled 1.2.4, renamed the Frey directory, searched for and deleted all frey entries in the registery, installed 1.2.8., same problem.

Any ideas.

What OS are you using? Can you try SageRecorder?

I am using windows 98 SE. I tried SageRecorder, but when I click OK to the evaluation reminder window nothing comes up. When you first introduced the product, I downloaded the evaluation copy so it might just be that its thinks that the 10 evaluation period is over.

I'm having exactly the same problem. After the reminder window it seems an access violation occurs and that's the end of that. This happens for both SageTV and SageRecorder.

Either of you,
Email support@freytechnologies.com and tell them you're having the launcher error. I'll get you a new one that might work better.
