Just built a new server - installed latest everything:
XP Pro - all critical updates
JAva 6 R 11
SageTV 6.5.6RC
Latest hauppauge drivers from the SHPVR.com? (the site mentioned in the FAQ)
Latest Silicon Dust driver
Showanalyzer Beta
Latest HD-100 beta firmware

Using Standard STVI with the following Plugins:
Mini-Guide
Nielm dymnamic Menus
comskip
intelligent suggestions
cpu MB info
imdb search
Weather report suite

eventually (typically at the most inopportune times of course) it will be very sluggish (spinning circle) - yesterday watch 24 it just stopped - frozen.

Server right now is just that, all viewing is done via the HD-100.

today when it froze up I try place shifter from a PC - the placeshifter came up, but froze up quickly.

Via Remote Desk I tried to stop the sageTV service. which eventually gave an error that the service isn't responding in a timely fashion.

Anybody else having this problem?

I've enabled logging so I can submit a log file next time it happens.

UPDATE: OK I've hooked up a monitor to the server and discovered (to my dismay) ... that the PC is bogging down and freezing up :( ... So I do not beleive this issue has *anything* to do with SageTV. this update was for anyone that may be searching and finding this thread.

You should disable all customizations and test using a default setup when trying to solve a problem & before submitting any bug reports.

If you haven't already, since XP is a client OS, not a server OS, try changing your "Advanced" Performance Options from Programs to Background services.

One other thing. I am having the same issue and it happened after I upgraded from Jave 1.6.10 to 11. I am going to roll back to 10 to see if it helps (waiting for something to finish recording). Not saying it's a solution but something I had changed before I had problems. I will try and post back if it does fix me.

FYI

After rolling back Java to 1.6u10 my extenders and system are performing much better. Additionally, I set the performance to prefer background services like the previous post mentioned. The combination of the two did indeed get me back to the performance I was used to. Don't know which one did it or if it was the combination of the two but I'm not going to worry about it. I'm running noticibly better and thats all that matters
