View Full Version : Recording of top left corner of the screen!?

I just tried to watch Monk from last friday as recorded on one of my Hauppague HDPVRs and have found that it apparently only recorded the upper left 1/4 of the screen. I messed with the aspect ratio and checked it on the server itself and it performed the same. The strange thing is that I opened the .ts file in the software that came with the HDPvr and it played just fine. Any suggestions!?!?!

Thanks!

I am guessing that there is a playback issue with switching from 480p to 1080i or 720p. This likely happened because your STB was on an SD channel and then it changed to an HD channel and the box and HD-PVR resynched to the new HD resolution. I get the same thing when playing back files on VLC but I don't have this playback problem. I think you can change a tuning delay that should prevent this from happening in the future.

But the thing is that it's just playback, not the recording itself. If I play it back using the media player, it is properly framed, but if I play it back using sage, it only displays the upper left corner.

Any other ideas??

Thanks.

I had asked about this previously, but continue to have the problem.

I've had 3 or 4 shows over the last month or so that when I play them back in the Sage client (or directly on the server) it only shows the upper left corner of the video. Meaning it looks like it's zoomed into the picture and only showing the upper left corner.

I've taken the .TS files on the server and play them in the total media extreme player, and the original file is fine, as it plays perfectly and is properly centered in the TME player.

It also appears the same no mater what aspect ratio I use on the client. The shape of the display area changes to 16:9 or 4:3, but the visable area remains the same.

Any clue what might solve this problem?

I continue to have this problem, but have some additional data. First is that the Hauppague box need to be replaced, so we know it's not specific to that device. The other is that I used the VLC player to watch one of these .TS files that was showing up in sage with just the upper left visible and got the same thing. Then I checked some of the video settings and changed the deinterlacer from 'disabled' to 'Discard' and then I got the full video. It is a bit letter boxed top bottom as well as left and right, but it works. It also appears this way on the laptop client I use sometimes. Meaning the 'problem' recordings look this way wehn played on the laptop, but they play without any manipulation. Other recordings. They also play fine on the HD Theater boxes I have as well.

Anyway, I looked at the settings in Sage and saw a dinterlacer option, but it was set to disabled, and didn't have any other options.

Does this bring any suggestion to mind??? Any idea where I should go from here?

Thanks.
