Looking to move from Time Warner Cable to Direct TV. I currently use an HD-PVR connected to a Time Warner HD STB and controlled via USB UIRT.
My question is is anyone using a Direct TV STB connected to an HD-PVR and if YES which model is it, how well is it working and how are you controlling the STB - USB UIRT, USB to serial, etc.
I don't want to go through getting Direct TV setup and then end up having a bunch of setup / configuration issues.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've used H20-100s, H20-600s and H21-100s with both USB-UIRTs and Serial cable channel changing. Both work very well and don't miss a beat. If you have USB-UIRT already, use that.

Helen, thank you very much for your reply.
I do currently have the USB-UIRT but if I go with Direct TV I'm hoping to add a second tuner and HD-PVR. In that case would you recommend the serial interface as I'm not sure how I would manage the USB-UIRT blasting the same commands to 2 receivers. Make sense?

How to control multiple set-top boxes with a single USB-UIRT (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=48916#post48916)

sleonard beat me to it.
re the Serial control. I went that route when I first got the two HD-PVRs to reduce the traffic on my USB ports. (The HD-PVRs gave me fits initially so I eleminated everything else USB) The HD-PVR drivers are much better now.

Thank you both very much! I now have more confidence making the jump to SAT (Direct TV) and can control multiple STBs with HW I mostly already have.
I really appreciate your help!
