Hey All,

With a multi tuner system is it possible to configure one tuner as primary for viewing and the other as primary for recording?

Hey Steve,

SageTV handles multiple tuners transparently, so you don't need to worry about it. Why would you want to configure like that?

Well, if different models of tuners are used, the quality of the recorded video vs the tv display might be different. If one tuner works better for recording vs viewing it would be nice to be able to pick the tuner for each function.

There is an undocumented property called 'merit' that you can change so it will use one encoder over another for your scheduled recordings. All you need to do is modify it in the properties file, the highest merit encoder is always used first.

I can see how this might be a concern with SageRecorder, but SageTV is always recording, whether you are viewing it "live" or not. I certainly agree though about the differences in quality in the tuners that I've tried (currently like the PVR-350 the best, although I haven't played with a PVR-250).
