Hello
I've been following these post for several weeks as I am considering buying the HD200. There are a lot of statements that I am not understanding and a lot of acronyms being used that I also do not know. So anyway I will tell you what I have had in the past and what I am hoping to accomplish with the HD200 standalone.
I used to have a pc connected to my pioneer elite RPTV. I ran Powerstrip to give me the resolution that I need for that TV. I also used a gyro mouse and RF keyboard which allowed my get done what ever I needed to do i.e.: web browse, play movies, email, some minor games. I also used this pc to run a home automation program (Homeseer). I replaced this pc with the asus eeebox because it was overkill for the home automation and did not want it running 24/7. So now I am looking for something to use on the TV that doesn't use a lot of power & has a simple user interface. I have touchscreens in the house so email and weather are not needed. I also have a Wii which is enough to satisfy my gaming needs. Whew! Did I really need to say all that.
So here are some questions on the HD200.
Will it display on my RPTV with a minimal amount of overscan?
Does Playon install on the standalone? So I can access Hulu and other sites?
Is it possible these sites could pull the plug on the HD200?
I hope to use my USBUIRT to control. This should work?
My DVD's are in the IFO. VOB format in the Video_ts folder. This should be the correct structure?
As far as audio I plan to use the SPDIF out to my Receiver. This will give my DTS 5.1 from my ripped DVD's?
Playing my DVD's from my computer gave me a really good picture. The pc up converted them? will the HD200 look just as good?
My Music & Photo's may be on a different pc VS the video files. I can still access both?
I don't have any HD sources but the HD200 would play a ripped Blueray disk?
Does BD stand for Blueray disk?
Are there any planned upgrades to give new features to this product?
Sorry if I'm asking too many questions?

The overscan can be tailored in the setup menu to fit your screen.

PlayOn currently installs on any computer on the Network and is then available to the HD-200.
Is it possible these sites could pull the plug on the HD200?
Anything is possible.
I hope to use my USBUIRT to control. This should work?
I don't understand your question. The HD-200 is a player, not a tuner. The HD-200 comes with it's own remote control.
My DVD's are in the IFO. VOB format in the Video_ts folder. This should be the correct structure?
Yes.

If it's on the network, then you can.
I don't have any HD sources but the HD200 would play a ripped Blueray disk?
90% of m2ts files will play from the BDMV\STREAMS folder. I expect 100% playability soon as long as you are using the Optical to bitstream to your amp.
Does BD stand for Blueray disk?
Yes
Are there any planned upgrades to give new features to this product?
Always.

Thank you very much :)
some follow up.
Does Playon install on the standalone? So I can access Hulu and other sites?
PlayOn currently installs on any computer on the Network and is then available to the HD-200.
I will be using it in a standalone with network connection. I should be good then.
I hope to use my USBUIRT to control. This should work?
I don't understand your question. The HD-200 is a player, not a tuner. The HD-200 comes with it's own remote control.
I want to control the IR with a portable touchsceen. Hopefully the USBUIRT can learn those codes.
Are there any planned upgrades to give new features to this product?
Always.
Is anything known to being getting worked on?

OK, I will have a pc with XPpro on the network which will serve the video files. I install Playon on that pc and I am good to go?
And last question.
Can a dvd be played directly? Example: Rent dvd put into dvd drive and play from hd200

You need to make the folder containing your DVDs an import folder. Go to filesystems. Go to browse the local network. Drill down to the folder and press the info button. Select add as a new import directory. Add. Once imports are refreshed go to movies on the main menu and you'll see your DVDs. Hilight the one you want to watch and press the play button.

Install PlayOn on the XP machine and you're good to go with that.
Only DVDs with no content protection can be played (hard drive or dvd drive).

thanks again.........by the way, is this documented anywhere?A lot of the HD200 works the same as or similar to the PC version of SageTV, so in the SageTV PDF (installed with SageTV or downloadable), see: Appendix I: Playing DVDs from the Hard Drive.

Will it display on my RPTV with a minimal amount of overscan?I have several extenders connected to several types of TVs and I do have an issue with overscan on my 7 year old RPTV. I have run the overscan wizard on these TV along with my others but I still lose part of the picture which is particularly an issue on some sporting events as the time/score clock tends to get cut off. Note that this is only an issue on my RPTV, not on my LCD, LCOS or plasma. I think this generally happens with "stretched" 4:3 content as I believe it also slightly stretches the vertical.
