Can the HD200 use the HD Home Run in Stand Alone mode? Or does it require the Sage Server software to connect the two?
Thanks,
Bobby

No, you can't record TV by connecting a tuner to the HD200. You'll need to run SageTV on a PC.

I don't know if Bobby meant to record, but instead to just use the hdhr through standalone mode. This would be useful if you have a tv without an hdtuner or qam tuner and wanted to watch qam channels without sage. (not that I would want to do that :D)

It'd be nice if SageTV would work with Silicondust to get this going. Maybe store the channel data on a USb stick and access the HDHR tuner directly from the HD200. You wouldn't have any buffer or rewind capabilities, but for LiveTV I'd be willing to guess there are a lot of people who would kill for that functionality. Especially considering those in the regions phasing out analog for digital/clearQAM.

It requires the server to record (cannot do with just standalone). You can however use any other program or VLC to record (may be manual) and you can pickup the video in your video folder.

For a while I was using RecordThis on the PC to schedule manual recordings with the HDHR and then watching them using HD200 in standalone mode.
Worked okay, but upgrading to full Sage server with Comskip installed is MUCH more enjoyable.

Hi Folks,
Yes, I was thinking along the lines of what Clift stated. I think the capability of talking to the Silicon Dust unit directly would be a big score, even if it is for viewing only. And maybe after that, adding the ability to record the shows to an external USB drive hanging on the back of the HD Theater, all in stand alone mode :thumb:
Perhaps that's something for the next model HT :D
For now though, I'm really enjoying the HD200.
