Beta Version 1.3.2 of both SageTV and SageRecorder are now available. You can access them through the previously provided link on our website or from the public FTP server. If you need the location again, send us an e-mail at support@freytechnologies.com. The most notable changes over v.1.2.8 are:
1. Fix for PAL audio
2. Fix for Creative VBDVCR audio/video sync
3. UI update for SageTV (if it looks green, then delete all of the ui/colors lines in the Sage.properties file)
4. TV out on PVR 350 (it needs to be initialized by using the WinTV application first)
5. Channel naming in SageRecorder
You can view all the changes on the Public Release Notes attached to this post. Please remember that this is BETA software and has only been tested in limited environments so please post any feedback immediately to this forum or e-mail us at support@freytechnologies.com. We also recommend backing up your Frey Technologies folder prior to installing this version in case you have to revert back to 1.2.8
Enjoy!

OK,
I dl'd 1.3.2. De-installed 1.2.8, and installed. I have a Creative DVCR board. 1.2.8 had sound sync 95% of the time. Usually you could just switch channels and it would re-sync. Only on rare occasion would you need to stop the application and restart it.
1.3.2 seems to start in sync but when I change channels, the sync is gone and never comes back. Further changing channels does not help. I tried adjusting the sound delay and could make an improvement until I changed channels again.
I re-installed the patch to 1.2.7 (MpegMuc.ax -84KB). The sound is back in sync once again.
I have tried various audio & video codecs to no avail.
I am using GREAT 2GB / hr and I am using _DEMO_'s driver for 720x480 video.
Anyone else having issues with this new version?

In addition to the sound sync issue mentioned above, I'm getting an error message on SageTV startup:
"Cannot load DirectShow filters. Please make sure SageTV filters are registered".
This is from a completely fresh install (Sage TV uninstalled and Frey Technologies folder deleted).
The program does continue after the error though.
I'm using the Creative card also and the filters from PowerDVD.

Lester

Stan,
You're the only person to report sync issues with the Creative card yet, I've had numerous reports of success. It might be the driver, anyone else using Demo's driver? Also, if you ever set fast_mux_switch to false, set it back to true, it works now for the VBDVCR card. And it should maintain better sync when set to true. (fast mux switch is only for SageTV)
Lester, can you email the sagetv_0.txt file to support@freytechnologies.com so I can look into the error message? Other than the message showing up, you're not having any problems I'm assuming.
Thanks.

I have some thoughts on the new features of the SageTV library. Is it possible to provide an option where we can turn off display of the Picture Library and Music Library options? I like SageTV because it does an excellent job as Intelligent PVR. I am extremely impressed with its capabilities in this area. However, even though I understand why it might be useful from a marketing perspective to include other functionality such as music and pictures, I would like the ability to turn off features that I don't want to use.
The very reason that I bought SageTV was because I was uminpressed with the likes of programs like Showshifter and J. River Media Center that try to be all things to all people. Both of those programs do one thing well (Music for Media Center and PVR for Showshifter) and everything else poorly. Therefore I would really hate to see SageTV go down that path. I would rather SageTV concentrate on being the best PVR possible rather than diluting efforts and branching out to other areas.
My $0.02.

Lester

Jeff,
I have confirmed it was set to TRUE. I was wrong about swapping the MPEGMUX.ax with the one you set me. They look and behave the same. Everything starts in sync and gets lost when you switch channels.
Its actually odd, it will blank out the video / audio, then a second or two it will come back with the video of the previous channel. Then it will start the new channel video, but by that time we are seriously out of sync. It eventually gets so bad that the video starts pausing [never gets better].
I _really_ hope its not the video driver as this is the primary "great" feature being 720x480....
I'll try and re-install tonight and maybe even re-install the creative driver for a test.

I also am getting the "Cannot load DirectShow filters. Please make sure SageTV filters are registered" error message on startup of 1.32. I did NOT uninstall the previous version. I just started the installer and overwrote what was there before (after making a backup of course). Here's my sagetv_0.txt file.
Also, when I click on the Edit UI box in detailed setup, I get a box pop up with 4 options in it to edit the UI, but none of them are active for me. I.e. when I click on them, nothing happens. The only button that's active is the X to close the window.
Also, when I was running full screen today, and clicked to open the Video Capture Settings (Advanced) box, the box came up *behind* the main UI window (not behind the detailed setup window), and I was unable to do anything but kill SageTV through task manager. We squashed this one towards the end of the beta process, but it's back.

The Creative A/V sync bug is still in 1.3.2, But I do have the fix. You can email support@freytechnologies.com to obtain it
SHS, you can disable EPG animations to speed it up. Now that it's doing shading and transparency, it uses more CPU to render the UI.
DirectShow filters error bug has also been located and is fixed for the next release

I just installed SageTV last night with the latest beta 1.3.2 and a new MpegMux.ax that I was sent last night. It made no difference and I still have sync loss on channel change. I wonder if I have the correct MpegMux.ax?
The one i got is:
Size: 84.0 KB (86,016 bytes)
Created: Friday, May 02, 2003, 3:44:00 PM
Is this the correct one for the Creative DVR fix?
Thanks!

No, that's not the right one. I've since emailed you the correct one, let us know how it works (it should). :)

I could not get 1.3.2 to stay in sync with either of the two MPEG2 decoders I used - Cyberlink (an old one) or Intervideo (the latest one). I uninstalled and installed 1.2.8 then applied the new .ax file and I think it is staying in sync. At least is not our of sync immediately like it was in 1.3.2. I will report if 1.2.8 gets out os sync but so far so good. Thanks!
