So, I've got an HD200, and it's a beautiful, but useless box right now. It will not connect to my network, which means it will not connect to the internet, or to my computer for the media I have here.

Things I have tried:
Resetting the HD200
Restoring the HD200 to default settings
Resetting the router
Switching ethernet cables
Updating firmware via USB (which will not let me verify, because it needs an internet connection for that)
Praying
Cursing
Drinking

If anyone has come up on a similar problem and has ideas, I'm all ears!

What does that mean?

Do you have DHCP on your network?
Have you gone into setup and verified it gets an IP?
If it doesn't get an IP can you give it a static IP?
Do you get a green light (network connection) on the box?
If you want more help or suggestions more info from you will help. Not so much what you tried but what symptoms are you seeing

Have you gone through the basic configuration? Maybe you need to change an IP address or tell it to use DHCP. The little information you have provided is almost useless. Since you have a router, I presume you have a working network and have connected devices to it before.

Does the green light (net) flash at all?

Almost useless? That's a bit harsh, isn't it? It was enough information to ask the next questions.

My router uses DHCP, but would not assign an IP address. However, it has had one in the past.

I was unsuccessful using a manual IP address.

The green network light flashes most the time, though slowly. Not as fast as it does when the network was active.

OK, it was almost useless to me. Perhaps someone would find something useful in there. The Praying, Cursing and Drinking prompted that comment.

I would consider the DHCP server suspect, so I would use a static IP address if you have a valid one that you know you can use.
Since you tried Updating firmware via USB, I assume you first tried updating through the internet. What happen when you tried using the internet? Does the HD200 have direct access to the internet? Does your router auto sense the type of cable you are connecting with? If not, is it possible all of the cables you have tried are straight where a crossover may be required. Are the cables homemade or factory made? I would presume you tried the ethernet cable that came with the HD200, but you have not stated that yet.

Can you go into your router and see if there is any indication that it sees the HD200? Does your router have firewall protection that may be causing issues?

So you get no DHCP address but it did work before. You can assign a manual IP address but it diesn't work. The green light flashes slowly. I would find a known good network cable and try it with that. Pull the one from your computer.

I used the cable from my computer already, and got the same issue. Now I'm at work, and not able to check deep in the router, so I'll check that again later.

And, of course, the praying, drinking, and cursing was me being facetious. :D

Well if you haven't actually done that it will never work.

I'd say you have a defective HD200. But good luck on getting Sage to replace it without days/weeks of troubleshooting...
