1) Is there any way to prevent the metadata plugin from sending a red system message indicator when metadata isn't found online? I'm used to thinking that a red ! means hd pvr has hung and that I need to reboot the hdpvr and try to rerecord the show/movie if possible. Not having metadata seems like a pretty minor alert to me and should probably be a blue indictor. Actually, when I first saw Brent's screenshots with the dreaded red !, it made me question the stability of hdpvr on v7.

2) As I understood it, Sage now embeds the actual media file with metadata so that it's not just in wiz.bin but self contained in a file to some extent. I assume this happens for the new recordings. What about the old recordings? Will we eventually get rid of wiz.bin then?

1. IN the web ui, Configure -> Metadata Tools - Automatic Plugin ->
Record Failures as System Message. This is checked by default. You can turn it off, and system messages will go away.

2. I can't speak for Sage, but I doubt the wiz.bin go away. Wiz.bin is a database that contains more than just metadata, and my understanding is the metadata is only embedded for mpeg2 and program stream files. Consider the metadata in the physical files as a backup.

1. Thanks. I kept looking under plugin options instead and couldn't find it.
2. So it seems as if I still need to occassionally backup wiz.bin then.

It's under "Setup -> SageTV Plugins -> INstalled PLugins -> Jetty Web Server -> Configure Plugin" Scroll down, and you'll see http port 8080.

It's always to good idea to backup your wiz.bin and Sage.properties ;)

Is there a way in the 7x version that I can have Sage not tell me about certain system messages?

I get alot of messages along the lines of "failed to find metadata from tvdb about xxxx". To be honest, I could care less about this message, if it finds metadata great, if not, no big deal.

How do I tell SageTV 7 to ignore messages like this?
Otherwise I constantly find myself clearing red icons. . .

I asked this question under customizations and received an answer. Actually couldn't find the option that was described but was planning to spend some more time messing around with it before asking for clarification. Can you find the answer here? It seemed as if I'm supposed to get Jetty working and login through the web server but I just get an error message when trying to log in.

In sage, go to

Setup -> Sagetv plugins -> installed plugins. Find the "Metadata Tools for Sagetv" plugin. Press enter to configure the plugin.

Good luck

Thank you. After one of the upgrades for the plugins, it started working. I know many have said this including myself, but thanks again to everyone that have been creating these plugins! I only wish there was something userful that I could contribute.
