I am on Sage 7 now, but I had the same problem on Sage 6.

I will be watching a show and will, for example, pause to go to the bathroom. When I come back, everything is frozen: I can press buttons on the remote and the HD-100 light will blink like it is receiving the IR signal, but nothing happens. I eventually have to turn the HD-100 off and back on, but then it says it cannot find any Sage servers on the network.

However, when I check my WHS Sage is up and running with no problems. Also, there is no network problem because I can still access the WHS from the desktops in my house. So I usually wind up stopping the Sage Service and then restarting it, and then turning the HD-100 back on.

Anyone have any suggestions? This is really killing WAF.

Thanks

UPDATE: Once I walk away for a bit (e.g., 15 min), I can reconnect to the server WITHOUT starting and stopping the service. I don't know if this gives anyone any better ideas.

I'd look at a network issue in your setup.

There are plenty of us that use HD-100s and WHS without any issues like that. However, if the HD-100 looses it's connection with the server, it will display the black screen and it will need to be rebooted.

So it sounds like there is a flakey connection somewhere. Make sure all your wires are terminated correctly and swap out patch cords to see if you can track down the issue. There also could be a problem with the switch.

Sorry, I realize that isn't much help!
