View Full Version : Anybody tried DVD longplay quality?
- I can record in sleep mode
- Video hangs in watch mode
- Video stutters, distorted when watching a recording
- Can watch recording with DVD player SW problem-free
DVD longplay is a VBR mode. Anyone tried one of the DVD modes?
Thanks

Well i tried it before in 1.2.5 and it worked but the audio never stayed in sync. But by the time we got the sync fixed i was useing Good 1.5 gig for recordings as it looks decent and doesn't take up as much space on the 35 gig's i got left on my D drive so i haven't tried it lately. But i setup a show to record in DVD lonplay to give it a test again.
Which capture card are you using for this BTW, It would probably help more to know your system spec's.

Ok well i tried it with a 30 min show and it worked for me without problems recording and watching it at the same time. It didn't stutter at all nor did it hang or look distorted, It actually looked quite good so i don't know what could be causing the problem with your setup. Of course it might be that i needed to try a longer running show to see if it starts doing that after so long or not.
It's a PVR 250 with the default codec. The HTPC is an Athlon XP 2000+ w/512MB of RAM. (not ideal, but that was the spare hardware I had) Ah, maybe time to try another codec again...

Yeah im useing the Cyberlink codec for video and the Mpeg audio decoder (Not the Cyberlink audio decoder) for the audio and it works very well.

Go with the Intervideo Hauppauge decoders with Overlay if you're using the PVR250.
