I was using sagemc prior to version 7. Since upgrading I have stuck with the default interface that has shipped with sage. Anyway we have a lot of movies and the wife asked about the letter jump on the right side like sagemc. Has anyone written something similar? I know some other people were saying hey like the new interface but felt this was a big feature missing. Thanks!

I think you can text-type with the remote number keys to spell out stuff which then filters the movies. i.e. 223 spells BAD

Yes I do realize that however it isnt very intuitive. The letter bar is very convenient and I believe typing a second letter puts you at the movies beginning with that letter.

This is the most missed feature of the previous version in my house. The wife comments on it every time she is looking for a movie..which is often... lol

I want this as well. I've tried using the remote, but it doesn't seem to work. It also doesn't seem to have any noticeable pattern, as in, it just jumps to random spots in my list.

Anyone find something to do this? Going through my library with a regular remote is horrible. Typing letters with numbers just doesn't work. Thanks!

I miss it as well. I think it would take a UI Mod plugin. Any suggestions on how it should work? Just like the old way or something different?

Personally, I prefer the default STV's hidden extra for filtering instead of jumping to some letter. Sure, you have to use the numbers if you are using a remote, but you simply enter 843 to see everything with 'the' in its title, for example. (This is used on the media browsers & Search menu, but not the recordings menu.) For anyone used to sending text via a phone number pad, it would be similar to predictive text, except that instead of predicting the text that you are entering, it is finding all possible actual matches.

If you press a number and it just jumps to something starting w/that number's letters, then you either are not using the hidden features or don't have one-touch filtering turned on.

As you said, the filter *doesn't* work in the Recordings menu and I think that's where I find the feature omission odd.

Agreed... for a PVR application, this seems odd.
