1. Some extenders are being recognized as clients even though they are local to the SageMyMovies install.
2. Sagetv not running in service mode will not save settings.

Installed and running BEAUTIFULLY!!!

It looks super fast considering Im remoted to it from work.. haha.

I love the fact that it adds on to the existing architecture of SageTV and doesnt overwrite it. The standard views are still there but you get the MyMovies option to choose.

Qustion though. Is there a way to make SageTV remember that I was viewing the movies in one of your views so when I just hit Videos, it goes to yours and not the default list view?

From the SageTV Main menu right arrow on Videos, right arrow on MyMovies, arrow down to your favorite view and hit the favorite button on your remote. That will make your chosen view the default view for MyMovies.

You can use the Options button to bring up Video Menu Options, select MyMovies options, enable replace Videos tab with MyMovies tab.

That should do what you want

I saw the replacement way in the Wiki, but until I ease the WAF to start using MM, I thought having both options available would be nice, but the default one being a MM view.

This isnt a big issue, but in the list view, when a title is longer than the space provided, it marquees left and right.. which is fine, but it moves to the right so much that it obstructs the view of the info.

(Not sure if this is the Info stuff you mentioned that wasnt working yet)

When I install from an extender I have to power off and back on the extender before everything looks OK.

You may need to restart your SageTV (or service) if installing from client or server/client.

If this is needed then maybe pluckyhd can use restart server instead? I notice if plugins use restart server instead of restart ui would force the HD200 to shut off.

Error: "java.net.UnknownHostException:null". Verify the server and instance names, check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434, and for SQL Server 2005 or later verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host.

I don't have the firewall on. I am not sure what else to do to fix this. Any ideas?

Can you bug this I didn't realize I could restart the server vs just restarting the UI I will add that too the code.

You have to create the folder.properties file as per the instuctions. If you are local just do a search for a folder called Sagetv and that should find it (hidden in the users somewhere)

Hd200 should not be caching did you not install mymovies collection manager as a server on the sagetv server your extender is connected too? If not I suggest switching you don't have to but not ideal to cache for extender better to have the fanart local on the server.

The default location for the directory is

"C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization"

*Note: The programdata directory is a hidden directory.

If you are running WHS the mymovieshare directory is going to be

"\\<server>\Shares\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization"

This directory is also hidden.

So the only thing thats not working for me (thats not in the "Not Supported Yet" catagory) is the Poster View.

I get the info to the right, but in the main screen where it has the placeholder for the movie poster, ther is just that, a placeholder. Is this a point based option? I have a tad over 1000 points currently.

Posters is not downloaded automatically by mymovies. I don't do this on initial install you have enough points but it won't go out to fetch the fanart until the next library scan is finished.

If you force a library scan it will start the process it can take some time to fill up all the posters and any missing backgrounds as well. It also has to scale them after that, but they will show up eventually promise ;)

*For ideal and best performance make sure poster fade is turned off in poster/cover views in the custom options. It will be terribly slow fading in posters on extenders*

This will help the experience allot on extenders.

My Movies share is the share created by the collection manager the folder is hidden by default see above post for location it will get added to the wiki

also it is folders.properties not folder wiki wrong :(

Really dumb n00b question here, but how do I actually play a movie once selected? I have tried hitting enter or play on the remote (HD200) and neither does anything. If I go into the Info view, I have the same issue. I can highlight the other options (Details, Cast, etc.) but can't actually change to any of them.

If yours is the same problem as him I am guessing your import paths don't match (ie you are using network in sagetv and local or something different in importing mymovies.)

If that is not the case then yes please send me the log

I fixed my issue and it was due to the import paths. MyMovies was monitoring \\server\Videos and Sage was looking at \\localhost\Videos. In my situation, it was best to change my Sage import paths and re-scan the media in Sage, then rebuild the SMM data file (from Database options). If you update the location of the discs in collection manager, you will end up with duplicates of every movie unless you also change the monitoring path.

Dont forget, not only must paths be the same, but case sensitive. Open your collection management software and look at the path to the folder. under disks.

If it is \\server\VIDEOS\Movies\movie_name

and your import directory is \\SERVER\Videos\movies FAIL!
must be exact

You can actually just delete the mymovies database in the collection manager and reimport under the new path but glad you got it working ;)

Ripper can you bug the case sensitivity for me I meant to change that so it wasn't case sensitive but forgot.

No posters are unrelated to backdrops it just needs a library refresh the first time I have added this to the wiki.

1.) Go into a view Pull up options -> Custom-> Fade Posters In
Set this to off/Grey bullet. If you need a reference, in wall view, it is the 7th one down in the options -> Custom screen.

This setting is not global so you will need to set it for each view that is relevant, mostly the ones that utilize a poster/cover to navigate the movies, ie wall, coverflow, etc. Changing this setting for extenders really does makes a huge difference in speed.

2.) I think I know what you are talking about. When you are in list view, it looks like there is a blank row? That happens when the plugin is not done doing it's magic. The plugin is not instantaneous so the first MyMovies library scan does take a while and the subsequent database with the Plugin also has to be updated to match. I saw this a lot in testing when i would add a bunch of movies and try to go watch them right away. The easy fix is to come back later and all will be well, or you can force a library rescan and that will start the import process. Best to just wait.

3.) If I'm following, it sounds like you are specifying the root directory for your mymovies import directory. You should be able to specify each subfolder that you want instead and that should achieve what you want.

Nice job Plucky!

I have installed but when I try to go to MyMovies I get an SQL Connection Error that says The connection to the host null, named instance mymovies has failed. Error: "java.net.UnknownHostException:null". Verify the server and instance names, check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434, and for SQL Server 2005 or later verify that the SQL Server Browser Service is running on the host.

I don't have the firewall on. I am not sure what else to do to fix this. Any ideas?

I had the same error. I fixed it by first installing the MyMovies Collection Manager Client on the Sage client machine. (It was already installed on the Sage server as both client and server.)

Then, I had an issue getting the CM client connected to the server. I had to RD to the server and uncheck the option for Simple File Sharing and give permissions to Everyone. Once those two things were fixed both the CM client and the SageMM connected OK.

The HD200 connected without issue.

1. Yeah that seems to be something going on with me marking the movie auto watched that is throwing sage off please bug that so I can remember to look into it further for now if you don't care about the watched just turn the feature off to mark it auto watched and have no dialog and it will return correctly.

2. Yes that is correct backdrops require points and if you don't have the points you won't have backdrops until I implement BMT/Phoenix would shouldn't be to far off still need to code it and test it.

Firewall service is turned off completely. Your wiki says that collection manager must be installed on the Sage server with the client and server option (XP) and then also on any Sage client machine with the client only option. This is really an amazing import Plucky. Major kudos :thumb:

I was about to spend a lot of time writing up a feature request when I found that the exact feature I wanted was already included. Namely the ability to both replace the default Videos Menu with My Movies and then customize the menu items. Very, very sweet.

I also found that Collection Manager noticed my rental DVD in the servers DVD drive and asked my to add it to the collection. I did so and then changed the disc location to online and the UNC path that I had previously shared it with ( \\Sageserver\DVD ). I was then able to play the movie directly from disc from inside My Movies. Another very sweet feature.

I just need to get Collection Manager to do this automagically every time a new DVD is put in the drive (I don't want to rip my rentals)

Also, I have a lot of music DVDs (Eric Clapton - The Clapton Chronicles, e.g.) that don't have Fanart, Posters, and sometimes even folder art. I already have scanned or d/l folder art for all of them but need to figure out how to create my own Fanart and Posters.

I will also be spending time this weekend learning how to icons for genres and such that I saw in the wiki.

Last but not least I will be learning how to setup trailers to play before each movie. I would like to play a random "Coming Soon", a random "Now Showing" and a random "Just released on DVD/BD" trailer followed by a couple of short clips like a Dolby Digital and maybe even a custom trailer. I d/l Blender and hope to spend some time learning how to make my own in the coming months.

I actually just did this for a few of my music dvds. The best method I had was to use Google Images - http://images.google.com/

First of all thanks for all your awesome work. For some reason, I am having the same problem as a couple of others. I have everything loaded and running, and can use SMM as expected, but cannot play any movies. I have checked and both Sage and My Movies are using \\Server\movies as the import directory (and I double-checked the spelling and capitalization). I'm attaching the log file. Hopefully you can look at this and point me in the right direction.

2. No there will be no interaction with the default views as this is meant to be an addition/replacement/alternative not interact with other views. You can however use folders to only show those for folders first and change your drill down and sort options per folder.

First of all, pretty cool plugin! The only thing I can see which takes away from the polished look is that when fonts are zoomed in, the resolution isn't very good. It becomes pixelated. Other than that, it will definitely be one of the menus that I use to show off my overall Sage system to friends.

New build of the api coming up the pipe fixes a couple of major issues found and adds the propeties file needed for setting fanart. See the changlog link on the first post for detail changes.

You will need to update from the General tab and look for smm-api it should show update available once the update is live.

If I go to List View, the title that's hightlighted has fonts that become bigger than the ones not selected. The fonts that aren't selected are nice and clean. I don't notice this because actually it is coded in reverse. the native resolution is the larger size and the smaller size is just shrinking....

Sorry after I had written post #95, I thought I'd edit it with one more fact that I thought could be helpful but you may have written your response before I was able to finish my edit. Since what you quoted from my post didn't include that last sentence, I thought I'd make sure you noticed my edit. The main menus (and up to the direct submenus under "My Movies") seem to work the way you describe. The native resolution seems to be the larger fonts and so show up more clearly than the smaller fonts.

I will double check when I get home to see how it looks on my HD200 and on the sage client.

Yup, that was the issue. I forgot I switched from Plucky's Menu Mod to his. Now a new issue comes up. Is there a way to make Plucky's Mod the normal vertical menu, while still keeping items in the menu disabled. I like to disabled the TV menu because I never use it.

Not that I'm aware of. I don't think Plucky has any plans to port that to a vertical configuration.

You could try notifying Wade of the issue. From what I understand it's not too difficult to fix and Plucky is always willing to work with other Devs.

Did you upgrade the plugin? The gernal smm-API as per above? You also need to wait until a library scan or force a database rebuild for it to show up.

I was afraid of that probably because no fanart exist online for them. Those are randomly generated by the mymovies guys. I
Am not sure what exactly they are using to generate those,but I will ask. For now just use the folder methods for backgrounds it won't make a huge difference. I am also going to try to get the scaling code to scale the folder images before next week. This was just really a quick temporary method to do it manual I threw in yesterday.

Are you sure you paths match I am guessing your mp4 are in a different location than your others and one of the paths doesn't match in sagetv and mymovies.

Make sure in MyMovies you direct it to an Online File rather than the Online Folder.

No that is not necessary mymovies is folder based. There is no need to point to individual files if your movies are in their own folder. That would be a very time consuming process. I do not recomend doing it this way as mymovies was not meant to be used that way.

How do I remove this? Once I installed it my screen is all messed up. when I move from one screen to another the previous text does not go away it is just writing over the text with new text. It does it right at startup on the home screen. Update: It only does this with version 7.0.12 it works fine (kind of) with 7.0.11 Anyone else see this?

I have not seen it...I have run both 7.0.11 and 7.0.12 on it are you sure it is not my plugin messing with another plugin? Anyways to remove just use the plugin manager go to installed plugins and select uninstall on this plugin or disable to disable it and not uninstall it.

I am guessing you are seeing this on movies in your collection manager you either a. have multi disc assigned to it or b. have more than one movie in the folder correct? Support is there in the mymovies server api just not in my coding yet it is on the to do list promise. ;)

Okay yes that will be coming probably within the month support for that. Basically it will popup a list of all the disk under that title and you can select one or play all.

Did you restart Sage completely? Right now only the UI restarts by the plugin. I saw similar garbled text until I shutdown Sage and restarted.

First off, EXCELLENT WORK Plucky and all involved in making this happen. This very much increases the "usability" of a large offline DVD Collection. I've imported about 175 online movies into Collection Manager and now I just need to get my offline DVDs from DVDProfiler into Collection Manager and I'll do that shortly :)

I have a couple things...

1) When I change the options and then restart Sage, all my options are being lost. For example, I changed the spacing between the covers in the Wall view but this defaults back to no spacing when Sage restarts. I also choose to show the "Watched" icon. I realize this can be set independently for each view. When I restart Sage, all my watched checkmarks go away. Is there someplace I'm supposed to "save" these settings that I'm just overlooking?

2) I had some trouble following the Folder view option instructions. Here are some things that might help somebody else...

The Wiki shows quotes around the name and folder. I did this originally but I didn't see any movies and the quote showed up in the folder view so I took the quotes out and now it works.

I couldn't have spaces in the name. I put 4 entries into the Folders.properties file but only 3 were showing up. Figured out it was because two of my entries started with the same word. When this happens, the plugin only sees one of them (but zero movies) because it takes off everything after the space.

While some of the unc paths within Sage are not case sensitive, these are.

And, after working through the above, I got it all working :D One thing that I did realize that I think would be handy is if you name two of your display folders the same that the plugin combines the movies in the two different folders into one folder view. If it is hard, no biggie, but got to thinking how this could be useful for some... like if you want a "Kids" option but have two folders for the kids (like "Disney" and "KidsMisc") then you could have just one folder view for the Kids :)

yes hit the watched button on any movie ;) I haven't wiki the shortcuts yet I need to do that. Please notice this takes a coupe of seconds to mark it as watched I need to change the way it is doing it, but as you noted you can also do it in the collection manager for time being.

1. Exactly. There was something back when I first started using Sage that made me not want to or able to use it in Service mode. Was so long ago, I don't even remember the issue but ever since then, I just don't use service mode :)

2. I had a folder named "Movies VOB" and "Movies AVI" but when in Folders view, all that is present is "Movies" and there are no movies listed... it doesn't recognize either. I fixed this by naming them "Movies-VOB" and "Movies-AVI". After this, I gained the extra folder (went from 3 to 4) and both folder views showed the correct movies.

You need to go to the "Installed Plugins" section.

I can't help you without logs or bugs report something is wrong either with your setup or my code.

No that is not necessary mymovies is folder based. There is no need to point to individual files if your movies are in their own folder. That would be a very time consuming process. I do not recomend doing it this way as mymovies was not meant to be used that way.

Hmm, I don't have any .ts files but I do have single m2ts files which should be treated pretty much the same. I have both those and full blu ray rips and they work fine.

I didn't intend to hijack this thread as I think this is a MyMovies issue. I didn't add the directory myself. When I add a title to MyMovies Collection Manager I have to tell it where the folder is where the movie is located. However if the movies is just the one file (2012.m2ts), I then have to go to the Disk option and change it from Online Folder to Online File. When it is the full rip then the Online Folder works fine.

First, Thank you for all your hard work. You really did well and its very much appreciated I know by all of us here. Not only did you invest all that time to code it but now you're investing time to answer questions and finish out the few remaining bugs etc. So thanks very much. Sometimes I think I enjoy messing around with the collection database itself more then the actual watching of the movies.

I was curious though how difficult would it be to add in mouse support? Is there a setting somewhere I can enable? I have my computer hooked up to my tv thru HDMI and do much more then just tv/movies and have always found it simpler to use a mouse to navigate my way around Sage. I know I'm in the minority on this, but if its a minor thing to add in mouse support I know I'd enjoy it, if its a much trouble at all then certainly don't worry about it at all.

Try adding your root folder, IE, D. I think that will fix your issue.

Do you have monitoring on? It should pick those up automatically.

You know I just realized that I confused the issue unnecessarily. The reason I have MyMovies set up the way I have it is because I have been using a CQC-TMT combination to play movies. It was the way CQC had to start TMT that required it to find the file. Sorry to add confusion.

Anyway, while waiting I started reading the customization info on your wiki, the info on the directory location for WHS for the customizations may be a bit confusing in that if you are on the console or a Remote Desktop Connection, per the MyMovies How-To:

Should you be using Windows Home Server as your back-end server, the directory for customization will be placed in the directory:

"D:\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization" (The directory may have to be created).


You might consider adding this, otherwise that portion is quite clear.

Well, after many hours of my computer chugging away, my DVDProfiler database was imported and now I've got 2000+ movies in My Movies and it is AWESOME!!!! LOL

One issue I noticed though... I have several DVD covers that are not being displayed in any of the views, but I do see a pattern for the ones that are not being displayed. The DVD covers are in Collection Manager but for the ones not working in Sage My Movies, there is no little "take" or "action" (you know, the little boards that they slap the two pieces together and yell ACTION! LOL) icon to the left of the Title. This is the icon between the colored capsule that shows graphically percent complete for DVD info and the movie title. This icon looks to be related to "Studios" because the same icon exists in the main area of Collection Manager. And, sure enough, the ones with no icon have no Studio information. But, when I add just a random studio, that icon doesn't fill on the left hand side so not sure what's up with that.

Anyway, I have no idea why but for the movies I imported from DVDProfiler with no Stuido information, the cover art is not showing in Sage My Movies even though in Collection Manager there IS cover art. Any ideas? :D

I just got into using mymovies and everything looks great and I can see all my info and movies, I was just wondering what I'm doing wrong since it seems that I can't watch any of the movies from the mymovies menu, I've tried it on multiple systems running sagetv. All works as it should on WMC but sage doesn't play any of my movies.

Also, all my movies are setup as dvd folders

Check the wiki, but the common problem is that the paths to the movies in MyMovies CM has ot be tha same as the paths to the movies from sage. Also, after they are set, you have to 'rebuild' the database from within SMM.

Very impressive Plucky. This has to be the best eye candy plugin for SageTV. This is an awesome plugin for the SageTV community. Thanks for the hard work and effort.

I'm still trying to figure everything out as I'm not familiar with MyMovies. It's really a shame that it can't work with just BMT data because depending on MyMovie can be a steep learning curve to use this plugin. It becomes quite a chore to get everything setup properly, starting with putting every file into folders. And it doesn't help that MyMovies doesn't come with a manual, not even an online one. But I understand that in the end, it is probably for the best to go with MyMovies and not BMT data.

I haven't read through all the posts or wiki, but I noticed none of the buttons in the Info screen works, such as Summary, Cast, Details, Trailers, etc. And lastly, how do I set the SidewaysView as the default view?

Give MyMovies a try for a few days. It's different at first and can be a little difficult to set up. However, after a few days I really started to like the interface. At first I hated it but the library is much more extensive and accurate. Some of the advanced features in MyMovies are really nice. Not trying to discount the hard work sean has put in to BMT in any way but you should give MyMovies a try for a couple days before fully passing judgement.

Firstly the clapperboard is just simply the online icon ;) the offline should show a disc icon.

I am only using Sage My Movies on my Sage server HTPC. And, the ones not showing cover art in Sage My Movies (actually, it is more than that because there is just a blank space with no way to even select that movie) is related to the ones that do not have the clapperboard icon in Sage My Movies. And, YES, in Colleciton Manager, I DO have coverart for these titles that are not showing up in Sage My Movies. How or why this clapperboard icon/stuidos thing would affect things, I have no idea. And, the ones not showing cover art in Sage My Movies (actually, it is more than that because there is just a blank space with no way to even select that movie) is related to the ones that do not have the clapperboard icon in Sage My Movies. And, YES, in Colleciton Manager, I DO have coverart for these titles that are not showing up in Sage My Movies. How or why this clapperboard icon/stuidos thing would affect things, I have no idea. I can provide some screen shots if I'm not explaining myself well enough. Just let me know!

Try rebuilding your database files an see if the missing ones show up you will have to exit and reenter smm to see changes.

Randy you lost me on some of your post I will answer what I could follow.

First If they are showing in the client and not the server correctly are you sure the correct videos option is selected? You need to be viewing boxed only or all videos boxes to see the box sets right. Also are you selecting the ticker on mymovies collection manager? (something like placehold title)

As for drilldown you can have any view and sort you want for drill down into boxsets,genres,filters,folder just hit favorite on any of those groups to bring up the drill down options for that group. (not in the wiki yet but works fine). So basically you can have one that sorts by release date and goes into coverflow and another that sorts by name and goes into wall view. Your choice.

I have no idea what you mean by incomplete disc data? Are you not selecting box sets from the mymovies collection manager? I also add mine and point it to some sort of collection or box set on the mm server. If I am misunderstanding can I see a screenshot?

Plucky, is it possible to run the the server on a different machine than the sagetv server, and just use the client there? The reason is that my sagetv server is not 64-bit (due to driver issues on the various tuners etc...), and the sql server takes 500+MB of memory. I have 4GB of RAM in the server, but it only sees 3 GB due to the 32 bit issue.

I run SQL server on a different 64 bit server machine, so it'd be easy to add it there, but I don't know about the dependency.

What I am suggesting is change the datasource for that boxset and search the mm database for a boxset already made (most of them already have on made.) This will give you all the fanart and appropriate metadata automatically. The reason it doesn't work with fanart inside is because most sagetv users wanted a way to have separate fanart for box sets and this allows that. If you want to request using fanart from the first title please feel free probably wouldn't be to hard to add but won't be high on the list either. Also request the disk be listed as that one isn't bad to add at all.

I really hope this is not a stupid question. I havea clean install of Sage v7 with just the MyMovies plugin installed on a WHS. Wverything installed correctly, the whole interface looks great, but when I select a movie, and press enter or play, nothing happens.

I tried this on a HD200 and placeshifter (Obviously placeshifter won't actually play the movie, but I don't even get an error message).

If I press play via the default interface (Videos,DVD/BD) it works fine.

See the wiki your paths for sagetv and mymovies must match perfectly and if they don't it won't work. Once you correct the paths rebuild the database file and you should be good to go.

I was refering to the sagetv client computer must be on and tray app running is fine yes. The sagetv server just must always have a connection to the mymovies server if they are not on the same pc.

Did you open Collection Manager yet to see what I was talking about? There was definitely a connection between the "Studios" having data in it and Sage My Movies not picking up those DVDs. I even gave it quite a while and restarted Sage several times. My Movies didn't pick them up until I rebuilt the database. Seems like it might be a minor bug. Maybe not worth spending a lot of time trying to figure it out but worth keeping in the back of your head if others see the same thing you'll know how to fix it :)

Also, since I put my entire DVD Profiler collection in it and have 2000 DVDs, I can actually outrun the graphics with the scrolling of the remote... and the remote doesn't scroll very fast as compared to the keyboard. It is by no means "unacceptable" but just mentioning that it takes a second or so for the DVDs to be filled in after I scroll a few pages. Meaning, just the text shows where the cover art normally is and then it fills in. I didn't see this behavior in any of the demo videos which seemed to scroll like lightening fast while maintaining the cover art. I'm not sure what affects this but I do have the Java heap set to 700mb and have 2 gig of ram in the computer. I could up that to 4 gig if you think that may help? Like I said though, no biggie, just bringing it up that the large collection slows things down a bit (which I suppose logically would be normal. LOL).

I have this exact same issue, but the instant i stop they all fill in (my collection is 1350.. now im jealous). If you set the background delay up a little it will definately speed things up. I increased mine from 500 ms to 2500ms and now it flies.

Also the poster fade option is for fast scrolling if you would rather the posters just be there but it be a bit slower turn poster fade of in the custom options. That is why there are options :)

There is much talk of "rebuilding" the database from MM. I am unable to find any mention of "rebuild" in either the Collection Manager interface or the WHS interface or settings. On the WHS settings there is a "Clear" under the Database area, I saw reference to that else where as "rebuild," is that it?. Or, is a "rebuild" done by creating a "New Database" from the CM interface?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is not the way to to do this just fyi and is unsupported by mymovies. You are suppose to install the WHS addin and then manage from a mymovies install as a client on another pc. This allows you to fully manage the collection and import or change locations. I don't recommend to anyone RDP in and installing the normal management tool as you will likely have issues.

For the other user rebuild database file is in the database options of SMM interface.

wjones and PLUCKYHD, thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I had just assumed that I need to rebuild the actual MM database as opposed to the SMM database from within SMM. Thanks again.

One interesting thing though. After reading through some of the posts on the path names needing to be exact, including capitalization, mine seems to not follow the capitalization rule. The disks in MM are at \\SERVER\... I had to change SageTV from \\localhost\..., so I made it \\SERVER\... to match MM CM. That did not work in SageTV, I still could not play the movies in SMM even after a database rebuild. However, in the WHS MM Movie Monitoring settings if I add a new folder it comes up with server in all lower case. So, I tried \\server\... for my import directory, did the rebuild and it works great now. Just thought I would pass that on since it does not match the earlier posts in case someone runs into the same issue.

I had no problem importing files/folders using UNC paths. It was a standard windows file open dialog, so you can browse to anywhere with it (or just type in the UNC Path).

You can't specifically type it in so what you need to do is when the popup comes up to select the location, go to your NETWORK location instead of the actual drive letters. When you make the selection via the Network location, it automatically fills in the UNC paths. I made the same mistake the first time too. Luckily the fix is easy and you just start a new database (which deletes your current one) and then import via the Network selection. This is WAY quicker than manually editing 500 entries :)

hmm to be honest I didn't test intros but the code is the same as trailers so it should work.

First, a mea culpa... I had for some reason assumed that SMM got trailer and intro data from MyMovies and didn't have its own configuration for that data.. Oops :-)

Upon finding the trailer/intro section in SMM, I realized my mistake.. However, I did notice the following:

(1) When I first setup an intro in SMM, it still would not play. I tried multiple times.
(2) I then enabled trailers and had them point at the same directory as my intro. At this point, I would start a movie and it would indicate that it was playing 1/3 (I assume the trailer, then intro, then movie). However, after the 1st item was played, it would just hang.
(3) So, I disabled trailers, and when I start up it indicates it is playing 1/2 (intro, then movie) and that seems to work perfectly.
(4) If I re-enable trailers, I will get the hang after it plays the trailer and before it moves into the intro... I wonder if that may be because it is the same file.. I will have to try it with different files and see if that changes the outcome.

No it doesn't sound like it...Try shutting down your sagetv and deleting the entire sagetv folder under your mymoviesfileshare. (not the installed sagetv folder the one under you share)

then open up sagetv and let it rebuild everything see if that works if not send me the logs please.

(2) I then enabled trailers and had them point at the same directory as my intro. At this point, I would start a movie and it would indicate that it was playing 1/3 (I assume the trailer, then intro, then movie). However, after the 1st item was played, it would just hang.
(3) So, I disabled trailers, and when I start up it indicates it is playing 1/2 (intro, then movie) and that seems to work perfectly.
(4) If I re-enable trailers, I will get the hang after it plays the trailer and before it moves into the intro... I wonder if that may be because it is the same file.. I will have to try it with different files and see if that changes the outcome.

Okay sounds like there is something there that isn't letting you enable just intros. I will look at it.

and yes it can't point to the same folder for intros and trailers that would be the other error.

If you are seeing it load images on by one then poster fade is not off.... they will all be loaded when you go if poster fade is off

Secondly it can't be pulling from the desktop location for an extender...I think you might be looking at the wrong properties file.

How much time are you giving it? Adding movies to the library are not instantaneous. Sage has to detect it in the library, MyMovies detects it and adds it to the database and then metadata is retrieved. Then sage and mymovies have to talk and everything is updated. This takes a little bit of time. If you come back later, it will all be fixed. Sage library scans are on a scheduled interval and theDatabase is also updated on a set or triggered interval.

The same thing happens in the default movies view. If you add a movie and try to go to it right away. Sometimes it won't be there and you have to do a library scan to pick it up.

This is why a database rebuild works because you are forcing the rebuild to happen right then and there as opposed to when it is scheduled to do it next.

This was mentioned in an earlier post but I'll be sure to add this to the wiki.

Hmm... doesn't a library scan happen when Sage first starts too? I know before I tried to force a scan and I got the same icon in Sage that I get when a scan of import media locations is happening... this happens when Sage starts too and this didn't bring the new movies into Sage My Movies. Thanks for the info Peter. It wasn't even picking it up after a reboot BUT, I may not have waited long enough. One of my media import directories has about 20,000 songs in it and the scan takes a few minutes.

I'm going to add a movie now and then go have a beer. :D Will let you know if I just wasn't waiting long enough for the scan to finish. Thanks!

Mymovies import is fired after the default sage library import is completed. DO NOT REBUILD THE DATABASE FOR NEW MOVIES TO SHOW UP. This will cause no linkage as the sage objects won't be available yet for mymovies.

To force a rescan do a default library scan from either the default menu's or SMM library scan option. This will only close after the default scan completes.

This does not mean that the mymovies library import feature is done. This import is fired off a sage listener and takes some time to complete. It all depends on where the library scan is coming from (client,server,extender) on how long it takes to run. I have seen it go in 15 seconds I have seen logs taking 20 minutes on very very large collections on a client.

Currently there is no way without looking at logs to know when the scan is complete.

In the next build I will have a onscreen indicator of when it is complete. (a small icon showing it is in process and not in process). This way you can reference from the interface directly.

Hopefully this clears up any confusion

I basically follow the sage default import as they must be imported into sage before I can link up to them. So the default is every 2 hours unless a manual scan is forced.

Since I dont have any points at SMM I cannot get posters or backgrounds from there. I was thinking that Fanart gotten from Phoenix would work. Of cours I could be doing something totaly wrong also - wouldn't be the first time.

Also to add to this before it adds any new movies it checks online for any new or missing fanart or posters. Then it does any scaling that needs to be done. It then adds movies.

Timeout settings are somewhere in the default sage settings I am thinking customizations but can't remember of the top of my head.

Because it is caching your fanart if it is all local then you are probably suffering from a mymovies cm error I found. Look for your email and I will have you try a few things.

I have a few issues I have found with the plugin, I was going to submit them as a bug on your bug list howvere I and also beleive others will not add them there for the reason being that you need a google email account to put them on.

So isntead I will list them here hoping that you will be able to have a look.

I have two problesm on the lsit view screen which I beleive are probbaly related. If the text for a movie is long and wider than the list when highlighted it scrolls which is nice. however if you have more than 1 of these long Title movies on the list that is viewable on the screen. and you highlight one then all of the Long titles start scrolling not jsut the one highlighted and the text size for all the titles even those which are not longer than the width of the lsit change to the highlighted size.


Second issue is I have gaps on my lsit for no apprent reason. I can see the gaps on the other views as well where there will be no cover. It is listing lal my movies however. I think the gaps are related to movie titles that are long for some reason.

Who says it's not nice now? ;)

1. I cannot reproduce this no matter how hard I try. They never all grow unless it is grabbing focus somewhere it shouldn't

2. There are purposely placed blank spots if show sort view is on or if at end or start o movies. I would need to see a screenshot.

All that being said I thinktou have a corrupted datafile. Try rebuilding the database file and exiting and reentering smm.

Did the Fanart refresh. Nothing seemed to run and nothing showed up. Could this be a problem with MyMovies? Are the items under the SageTV section just a copy of the MyMovies section? I could just wait until Phoenix works with it since I have backgrounds and posters for all the movies there.

Yes expect I think posters should be there as I don't believe they require any points .
Could you force a fanart refresh by going to options fanart and hit search for missing fanart. See you get any posters doing that.

1. I cannot reproduce this no matter how hard I try. They never all grow unless it is grabbing focus somewhere it shouldn't

2. There are purposely placed blank spots if show sort view is on or if at end or start o movies. I would need to see a screenshot.

All that being said I thinktou have a corrupted datafile. Try rebuilding the database file and exiting and reentering smm.

Thanks Plucky I rebuilt the database file and its all sorted now. And the MyMovies plugin is super nice now, what I am saying though is once the search functionality and other things that are not fully implemented now are implemented it will be super super nice. Thanks for all your work. :goodjob:

How much time are you giving it? Adding movies to the library are not instantaneous. Sage has to detect it in the library, MyMovies detects it and adds it to the database and then metadata is retrieved. Then sage and mymovies have to talk and everything is updated. This takes a little bit of time. If you come back later, it will all be fixed. Sage library scans are on a scheduled interval and theDatabase is also updated on a set or triggered interval.

I added a movie like I mentioned I would yesterday and waited about 13 hours. Sage My Movies still had only a blank space where the movie should be. Under the My Movies Database option I saw "LastScan" so I clicked on it thinking I might see a date/time but all that happened was the circle of death spun for a couple seconds. I then selected the scan option and told it to leave the window up until the scan was complete. This took a minute or two and then when the window went away I went out of My Movies then back into it and the movies DID show up correctly :) I selected "LastScan" again and same thing... circle of death then nothing happened.

It seems like the automatic scan every two hours isn't happening. If you'd like me to look at some setting, just let me know.

The automatic scan will only happen if you are running the service or on startup of sagetv not running the service. It is not automatic if the service is not running.

LastScan needs to be removed and will be from the next menu you can check the last scan date from the information screen.

For ideal and best performance make sure poster fade is turned off in poster/cover views in the custom options. It will be terribly slow fading in posters on extenders

Correct I am surprised so many don't I was under the understanding tv doesn't record if service isn't running and sagetv is shutdown.

So many new plugins fire off listeners that just work better and more automatic if the service is running. otherwise all the those plugins will fire on start of sagetv which can make startup slow.

What view are you using? In wall view poster fade should be there. You don't really turn it off you just turn it all the way up so there is no fade. Now, if the option isn't there that is another story.

Where did you do the fanart refresh? I always go to CM and then options, metadata and tell cm to update all content. CM will then grab all posters, backgrounds, and covers based on what points you have. If you don't have enough points for either posters or backgrounds you can manually add backgrounds to each movie folder until phoenix is supported. I'd just contribute info so it automatically downloads the backgrounds.

I have an option in SMM to do this as well ;) It only looks for missing posters and fanart though.

Will do. I was running Sage in non service mode as an "old habit" because there was something that didn't work right in service mode when I first started using Sage many years ago. I don't even remember what it was now but it's obvious those issues have been ironed out. So, I'll start using Service mode... I just never had any issues NOT using service mode (until recently with some of these plugins) so didn't see the need to change something that didn't seem broken. But, you guys have convinced me it is time to get out of the stone age :D

Just to note service mode issues have been resolved in the next build. YOu just won't get the autoscan feature. It will only scan on startup of sagetv.

Hmm most of the issues are gone on the google code site and the wiki and version numbers are changed....Must be a new build coming up the pike...If there is be sure and read the change log and update the UIMOD(stvi) and it should auto update the General(api).

Ps if your issue wasn't fixed it wasn't on googlecode or emailed.

I also did not have posters and background (running with 0 points). However, when I signed up for the MY Movies trial, and temp got 2500 points, both posters and backgrounds began to show up. So, based on this it appears that posters (and of course backgrounds) do require some points.

Just FYI for when your trial runs out... I think it was mentioned in the "coming soon" thread but buying $20 worth of points is really worth it for this plugin. I bought the $20 worth and not sure what I'm missing... I know the quality of the backgrounds is not as high but they still look damn good on a large 1080P TV.

SMM is trying to display only 11 discs, which is correct as that is all i have imported into collection manager, but obviously the fanart is not displaying, and the title text gets garbled as it animates..even the wait circle stays. The navigation works, but the text animation garbles everything up.

any ideas to where i can continue to hunt for the cause?

No you have a bad import or something going on there. Maybe your computer can't handle the animation or you have core animations turned off in sagetv?

Click select one more time. Clicking on any of the sorts a second time will change direction of the sort.
