I think I'm starting to get the hang of this, but I'm not finding it anywhere near as easy as the TiVo. It's not the setup or anything (which is all quite easy), but the use of the software.

So, here's where I think my problems are:

- SageGuide is not what I want to see.. Now I've realised what it is, I don't think I'll ever want to use it. I want to access the other three guides specifically. There's too much information in SageGuide.

- I hate the way the guides wrap around from top to bottom - if I get to the bottom of the 'Sage Recordings', I want it to stop (with a beep), not start again at the top

- The EPG animation is really slow and jerky on this PC (1GHz P4) - I've turned the animation off for now, but I'm sure it shouldn't be as nasty as it is.

- In the Recording Schedule, I only want to see recordings that I've scheduled. If you want, you can have another section showing the planned intelligent recordings (like TiVo's 'Suggestions'). Otherwise, it makes it difficult to see what I've requested.

- As I've mentioned elsewhere, the yellow borders around manually selected items is really confusing (at least to me) - elsewhere yellow borders mean a menu item is selected. Initially I thought it wasn't working properly, because I couldn't get the yellow box to move as I changed selection! I'd prefer to see an icon saying what type of recording it is.

(PS - I prefer the TiVo way of working where you select your Live TV item or recording and press Enter and it takes you to a page all about it, rather than the Options menu popping up, but that might just be me, and it's not a massive deal)

Well, they will never please everyone all the time, for instance I like the guide to wrap from bottom->top and top->bottom.

That being said, I agree on some of your points.

1. I don't like the yellow outline for manual recordings. I found it confusing too. A different icon, or something, like you mentioned would be better.

2. I 100% agree that recording shcedule should only show the things you specifically ASKED it to record (manual + favorites), not all the junk that Int. Recording wants to record. Don't get me wrong, I like the Int Recording feature but it makes the list too busy listing them together.

Just my $0.02, nothing more.

It could be made optional :)

The reason I don't like it is that there's no quick way to get to the last item (ie the item that will be deleted first). If I keep a button pressed down to page/scroll down, then it just keeps wrapping around for ever.

Sure there is, just press "Up" instead of "Down" when you are at the top. :)

That's exactly what I do. :)

But that's not obvious....
(It might be when you're used to it, but not to a new user - or even to me after using it for a few days :)).

I was always told that UIs should go for the 'method of least surprise'. Being able to press up to go down (IYSWIM) is 'surprising'...:eek2:
