View Full Version : Can't Play?

My paths match but I still can't play a movie on my HD300. Is that logged anywhere what it's trying to do? I did just read this on the Wiki "IMPORTANT: MyMovies must be installed as a server where the Sagetv server is running. On any client install of SageTV, MyMovies client must be installed." So if I have MyMovies running on my WHS and SageTV running on its own server with the MyMovies client that won't work? Everything seems to work except being able to play anything. Plays fine through Sage normally.

Sage Import Directory: \\whs\DVDs\Movies
Collection Manager Sample: \\WHS\DVDs\Movies\Avatar

Thanks

What version?

And if I am reading that correctly whs is different the paths are case sensitive.

I am having a similar issue (HD200). None of my files will play and I don't get any warnings. Found this message in the log:

Doesn't do anything. Acts as if I didn't press anything. I have tried both play and enter.

Okay I need to see a full log of the databse build.

Make so and turn logging on to trace in the configuration options. Then restart sagetv service and go back to config options and rebuild the datafile. Once it finishes see if the problem still persist email me that mymovie log

FYI, I was finally able to get MyMovies going again!!!... However, I am now in the same boat as above. No files play from My Movies.

I can get a file to play from the Sage Videos menu. Something interesting is if I go back into My Movies it asks if I want to mark the movie I previously tryed to play as Watched or not....

I'm also in the same boat. Finally got mymovies working again after deleting my database and upgrading from 7.0.19 to 7.0.20 ..

But now selecting a movie to play has no effect in the mymovies basic view or others vie tried. It worked before the update and i've not changed any of my paths.

I need to see some trace logs to see this issue as I am unable to repeat it.

See above for how to change to trace logging it is important you shutdown sagetv service and restart after words and delete the datafile.

Having the same no playback issue, I thought I just needed to wait after the rebuild for everything to link up again but still not working overnight. Here is a snipet from the log. I open list view and try to play alice in wonderland. Nothing starts and the list loses the title for the selected item that isn't playing (see photo). If I leave SMM and come back it asks if I want to mark as watched yes/no etc...

API 1.201 and STVi 1.16

Sorry Jorton I need a entire trace log of the database building to see the issue. I am not having the play issue and have been unable to recreate.

If someone would please give me a full database rebuild trace log I could find the issue i am sure

If someone can get me it I will be releasing another build today with it fixed I have fixed other issues already.

I e-mailed you a new set of logs. If they don't show up, let me know and I'll have to upload them somewhere since they are over 750kb.

I verified that the log level was set to trace, stopped SageTV service, deleted data file, then restarted service.

Just as a side note - I also have the issue where my extender properties file is now called "NotFound" and has an additional "1" at the end of the MAC address. Not sure if that is causing this issue...

Thanks for the understanding and patience everyone!!!

Yes, just upgraded to 1.604 and everything works fine on the Sage Clent and my extenders. Even the default parental controls work great!!!

Plucky,

I have gotten several updates today, but the last one was about 10 minutes ago so I am pretty sure that it is the latest. The problem that I am having is that some movies play just fine and other don't. I also have at least 1 movie that trying to start it doesn't put a single line in the info logs. I am restarting everything now with Trace logging enabled to try and see what is up with that movie.

Here is a log excerpt of a movie that plays

I have tried rebuilding the DB 3 or 4 times today and it hasn't fixed the problem. That said, I am going to dump my entire My Movies library and start over from scratch. If it is a path problem, it should be gone.

Not necessary if it is a not matchin issue. With a good trace log of a database build I can tell immediately the issue.

I rebuilt everything like I said I was going to and rebuilt the SMM DB. I have sent you the logs in e-mail because a full trace log is big. I would like to point out that the DB rebuild ran for about 10 hours and never left the "In Process" status even though SMM showed my entire collection in less than 2 minutes.

As I stated before the plugin screen does not update correctly without leaving it and coming back in this is not under my control. Best to just leave and watch for the icon to disappear. It never will take 10 hours unless it is hanging.

I hadn't heard this, but it doesn't surprise me in the least. As a software developer, I have already performed a few debugging steps on my own. One of those involved closing and reopening the GUI, but that didn't fix it.

FYI: I have SageTV running as a service so closing and reopening the GUI shouldn't impact the DB creation.

In short, I did leave and come back to the configuration screen and the "In Process" indicator remains. It has been listed as "In Process" for 10.5 or 11 hours now.

Then like I said you have a hang/error somewhere. I replied to your logs if you want to continue in email. I don't know what the issue is with the plugin screen not updating I was going to bug it with sagetv or maybe that is the intended behavior as I am using a third party api to add the buttons and text not sage's.

If it is hanging which could be the case it will never go away because the value won't ever get reset to done because it is hanging regardless of how many times you restart the GUI as the service is still hanging and if it is a continuing problem then that explains it. I didn't check your log for the hang but I will after I receive your response to the first issue.

Plucky,

In email you showed me that my paths in MyMovies and SageTV didn't match. I have fixed this and rebuilt the SMM database. After making that simple change, it looks like all my movies play and the "In Process" indicator hanging is also resolved.

THANKS!!!

No problem. I will also look at the watched issue as that one appears valid although I thought I fixed that already :(

I will also look into the log a bit more because it shouldn't have hung just because the paths didn't match as well as it should have given you a popup stating the paths didn't match did you get a popup btw?

Everything is resolved here.. the hangs with the scanning on my end were caused by sage 7.0.19 - not mymovies. I upgraded to 7.0.20 and then that resolved the scanning icon indicator issue in sage. Then with the latest update put out by plucky that seems to have resolved the play issue as well as sorting, etc. I think I'm all set here! Will get some more testing in later this week!

Great job Plucky - Thanks again!!

Look at a disc in the collection mananger

it is determined by the folder you import it (wether unc or local) and the monitoring folders.
