View Full Version : How does stuff end up archived?

Umpteenth rebuild this year, and I'm now in the cleanup and maintenance stage. There are tons of recordings and duplicates of recordings that somehow got archived. I can understand how some shows lose their wiz.bin info when the server crashes, but those wind up as imported videos. How are things getting marked as archived without someone specifically doing it?

When you move a recording to a new drive it can become reconnected in the database but as an archived recording. Rebuilding your server with different paths could cause this.

I recently did this when I wanted to have an entire season of recordings on a different drive than my Recording drive. I copied them to the other drive and renamed the files with a personally-preferred name (and episode number, etc.). I was expecting them to show up in the imported videos list, but instead they showed up as archived recordings. So I manually deleted (in Sage) all of the original recordings, and then manually unarchived the copies. The interesting part - and I know this isn't the place for v7 stuff since it's still beta, but nonetheless - is that, because v7 embeds the metadata into the recordings, Sage still kept the now-unarchived recordings in the same folder where they originally were, with the same episode titles that Zap2It gave them (not the names that I renamed the files). So it's like nothing changed except the path where the files are kept.
