I am very new to SageTV and I have successfully installed SageTV on my WHS machine with the intent to run SMM on the HD300 extender. Once I installed SMM on the server I was never asked to cache my covers. Anytime I open up SMM on the server the covers have to load every time and it's very slow. As I go up and down on my movie wall the covers are loading every time. The same is also happening on the HD300 extender. I've checked the properties file and caching is turned on but I'm not sure it's looking in the right spot.

Why did SMM never ask me to cache the covers in the first place?

Dan Welcome,

The caching happens automatically on the first install. There is not interaction required.

As for the "slow loading" on the hd300 you need to turn of poster fade in with the customization options menu or go to the buttom and hit the extender defaults

cheers

Thats the problem, the caching isn't happening. It never ask me to cache or told me it was caching. Now every time i load the SMM the covers all have to be reloaded. Even while I'm in SMM and I start to scroll down and then I scroll back up the covers are reloading on the fly. Needless to say it's making the experience very slow.

If you are seeing the images at all then the caching is happening. It is more of a scaling and is automate like I stated there is no prompt for it it happens on install and on each db scan.

As stated above the scrolling down and up and the covers reloading on the fly is the poster fade in option you need to turn off or turn on extender defaults. This is per view setting so needs to be done on all views you are using.
