I know XMLTV isn't really being supported on here.. or least the sagetv plugin.. i just hoped from the developers side of the plugin interface that you may be able to answer this question...

How do you update the EPG... I've just gotten a new epgdata.xml file that the plugin is supposed to use... nothing has updated... I am assuming frustratingly that I am going to have to rerun the setup wizard for it to get channels.... is this the norm with the SageTV service... every 14 days with that do you have to reget listings?!?

Its a minor pain that would be great if it could be integrated and automatic if its only for plugin use... I will try getting in touch with the plugin author about it.... thanks

If you check the System Information area, it will tell you when the next scheduled update will be. If you want to update it immediately, exit SageTV, delete the Wiz.* files and then re-run SageTV. This will refresh the EPG. However, I don't know what else you lose when you delete these files, so follow this advice at your own risk!

What I do is I created a batch file to automate downloading XMLTV data, then use Scheduled Tasks to run it every week. Not quite as slick as using Sage Service, but for now this is all I have.

The trouble is and i dont know if this is a problem or just an issue with the UK XMLTV stuff... i only seem to be able to grab a variable number of days... XMLTV exits early... sometimes with days=4... this current update with days=3 :(

Deleting the Wiz file... eeek ... Really could do with an update now option... I guess you may lose a LOT of your settings... anyways thanks.. will try tonight

Hmm I guess the auto update timing is calculated when there is NODATA in its current EPG data... it looks ok from here... again tho, be nice to get it done when you want... more for making sure it works what with being the plugin and all... be a nightmare if it didn't update properly and you didn't get your programs recorded as the data was all wrong...

Before you delete the wiz file go to the channel setup and deselect the reselect a channel. Give it a couple of minutes and check to see if the guide updated. This worked for me.

Ok cool... sounds sensible...

Its kind of neat that it doesn't update all the time.. means i can update my XML file whilst the program is still running.. i had been closing it down whilst updating it...

I really need to get a 2nd machine doing the recording.. I've not checked emails or done anything on my PC this week as i leave it recording.... :)

Guys - don't delete the WIZ.* files, unless you absolutely have to!!! Most of the data that the program stores for its intelligent recording is stored in the WIZ files, and if you delete them, you lose all of that.

Like mandrake said, if you want to force an EPG update, go into channel setup and remove a channel, and then add it back. That will force the update.

do you have to remove the channel, quit from the channel page... go back into the channel page, and then reselect...

or can you just toggle it, keeping on the same page!?!?

So i can just turn all my channels off and then turn them on again... thats kind of neat...

I thought deleting of .wiz files sounds scary... just as i'm getting my card NOT recording ALL the time :) dammit my PVR-250 gets soooooooooo hot too :/ really worried about putting it in a fanless machine for silence... going to ask about this on shspvr...

Sage runs its EPG update every 24 hours, or when a change occurs that warrants it (such as the channel setup toggle).

Just toggle off then on then right arrow no need to exit and go back. Also only have to do it to one channel not all.
