It's too quiet in here without the speculation on what's coming in the next beta...

I am hoping for two tuners so I can record both Friends and Survivor AT THE SAME TIME! I know two tuners is crazy, but just think of the possibilities!

It was a joke. The last time Friends and Survivor were on at the same time was 8PM Thursdays 2003. The first SageTV beta was March 26, 2003 according to this (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=408627&postcount=5) post.

So, without asking you to breach any confidences and given that (a) my HDPVR has been giving me fits for months, even though I purchased a brand new, high-end computer to drive it and I've had Dish Network out to check the satellite twice and I do not get halts or pauses when watching the Dish STB directly without going through the HDPVR, and (b) I'm anxiously waiting for my Colossus to arrive, does it work any better (i.e., more consistently and reliably) than the HDPVR does? Thanks!

This was linked (http://www.missingremote.com/blog/hauppauge-colossus-qa) in the Colossus thread.

Yes it looks like the Colossus should be shipping today-ish, so hopefully the beta will follow shortly.

Especially since, at least for the time being, this looks like a product specifically designed for SageTV.

Actually, according to the Hauppauge website, they have released beta test software for windows media center already. Looks like they will be playing before we get a chance.

I doubt that very much.

Interesting that the link for the Colussus beta support driver actually takes you to the 1.5.7.0 driver for the HD-PVR.

I was as shocked as anyone when I saw that link on their website, but they have released software for WMC.

I was as shocked as anyone when I saw that link on their website, but they have released software for WMC.
Why? The big step was to get WMC integration for the HD PVR (specifically related to guide integration, channel changing etc.) due to the fact that it's not a tuner, but a capture card.
Once that was finally done, it should really be a small step to get this updated to the Colossus, since HD PVR and Colossus aren't that different.

It is a different chip used for the encoding.

True, but that shouldn't affect it at the software level. The driver interface that sage and WMC see should be the same (hopefully with the addition of MPEG2 encoding options).

Some folks got their colossus boards Friday, and a lot will start getting them on Monday and Tuesday and then even more as the week goes on as they are ramping up their shipping.
