I'm repurposing my old Dell Dimension E510 (Pentium 4 630 - 3GHz, Intel 945G Express chipset) into a DVR. I'm cutting the cord with Time Warner cable and will get my channels OTA and other content online (Amazon, Vudu, Netflix, etc).

I just purchased the Hauppauge HVR-2250 Dual Tuner w/Remote and SageTV bundle and now need to purchase a PCI Express 2.0-based video card w/HDMI to complete the system and connect to my HDTV.

I'm looking for any and all recommendations/suggestions/advice/etc re: what HDMI video card to get. I don't know how important the GPU, memory, etc of the card are when used in this config. I don't have a specific budget - I just want to buy the right or best card for my needs. No gaming on this machine, just DVR and a fileserver to the rest of the house.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That question depends on how much picture quality matters to you. While most cards do a fine job of offloading decoding to the gpu, sometimes things like deinterlacing and other things aren't up to par. From my research the ati/amd 5750 or above score the highest in the HQV test. I have used lower end ati cards with success and also use an 8800gt and the built in graphics on my i3 system.
