Sharing USB-UIRT w/ SageTV and Eventghost?

I use the the USB-UIRT to change channels on my satellite receiver via SageTV. (I don't use it as a IR receiver in SageTV)

I'm trying to setup Eventghost to use the IR receiver of the USB-UIRT to control things like Winamp, Netflix instant streaming etc. However if SageTV is running, I get this error in Eventghost:

Plugin: USB-UIRT
Error starting plugin: USB-UIRT
Device not found!

The USB-UIRT plugin loads fine if SageTV isn't running. I was under the impression that the USB-UIRT could be shared by multiple programs at the same time (posts on the USB-UIRT say so). What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are running Windows 7 you need beta USB-UIRT drivers if you want to use the USB-UIRT in more than 1 security context. See this post (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50013) for the drivers. If it's not Windows 7 there is something else going on.
