View Full Version : Could Somebody Test This?

Hey Folks,

I found a problem using SageClient (both 1.3.3 and 1.3.4) to access a PVR 250. If I set the PVR to encode at higher than 2Mbps I get stuttering audio/video almost every time I change channels.

I also see square blocks randomly thoughout the video. If I set the rate below 2Mbps it does not stutter when changing channels, but I still get the blocks.

So, for me, only 2Mbps is usable with SageClient. Using SageTV to directly access the same tuner works fine for all settings. I assume this is some kind of network latency problem, although I am running in a 100Mbps switched configuration.

Could someone else test this to determine if it is "my" problem or a broader concern?

Thanks,

Steve

I am running 3.8Mbps (2GB/hr setting) on a PVR-250 with no issues like you mention (other than the file framentation issue mentioned in another post that causes a slight pause when transistioning between files) streaming live and stored video to three clients using 1.3.3 over 100Mb Enet. The clients vary widely (800MHz notebook, 933MHz EPIA-M motherboard, and a dual-P 2+GHz Xeon). Video server system with PVR-250 is a PIII 700MHz system.

My original posting was incorrect about my settings. It is the 2GB setting that works, but any other setting causes a problem. I shoudl have listed everhing as GB instead of Mbps.

Sorry about the confusion.

Could you try setting your PVR to something other than 2GB and see if you get the problem?

Keep in mind sshapiro63 MPEG2 program stream was not made for this and the one option we do need is the native transport stream but we can't use it on PVR 250/350 or 2nd option is upgrade your network to GB network setup.
I on hand only use CVD 1.4GB or 3Mbps.
Jeff maybe this will help some have look in to maybe doing big temp or buffer over local lan? maybe that help some.
