Occasional letterboxing in Fill mode

Every once in a while, letterboxes appear in my video while I watch recorded programs. More accurately, the video seems to compress to 16:9 ratio, with black bars on the top and bottom. It only happens for about one second at a time, but it happens once every few minutes.

I've encountered this 1.2.8 and 1.3.3, but I haven't tried 1.3.4. Also, I have an HDTV-capable TV, and I can't really tell if the TV is changing modes, or if SageTV is rendering the video differently. However, I've never noticed this when displaying the same files in WMP, so my guess is that Sage is doing it.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this to happen?

Does nobody have any suggestions here? It's becoming very annoying. This happens once every few minutes. It's also occurring under 1.3.4.

How are you connecting to your HDTV?

Did you enable the video background shift in Setup->Advanced? That *maybe* could cause a problem like that if you enabled it, but I've never heard of this problem before.
