View Full Version : 7.1.9 Stuttering

Tried 7.1.9 on client and server. Never had this before. Was watching TV shows, DVD's, HD-PVR stuff just fine on 7.1.8 yesterday.
Stuttering on client on everything EXCEPT HD-PVR recordings, or outright shutdown of client after short spinning wheel of death.
Server seems fine, but I don't watch movies in my equipment room !
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I have had similar problems with client and spinning wheel of death, also didn't have this with previous versions. Seems more prevalent when playing HD (MKV) files and press "stop". Have to then stop and restart client

Well, according to Sage it must be me.
Not much point in having a beta bug report area if all Sage does is blame it on the user(s).
I'm never exactly sure what Sage is doing. To me, they frequently act like a bunch of young guys trying to soup up a car. They'll let the transmission fall out or the brakes fail, but by gosh they will get that cool-looking piece of chrome to fit onto the grille.
It also seems like they are always "on the run" to get ahead of the competition. Who is left? Snapstream is history. MythTV, maybe. Certainly not Hauppauge software or hardware. Windows Media Center? Maybe. If you like having a full-blown CPU hooked up to your TV. I'll take the Sage hardware extenders any day over those. And it seems the main point of 7.1 is nannyware with all the security stuff and profiles.
For me, the only thing that changed between one day and the next was the beta version of Sage. That DVD file folder played fine with my software DVD players. Something changed in the way their client talks to their server. Personally, the last thing I mess with is my ethernet network or adapters. It's my bread and butter for work, so it's hardly in my best interest to do anything to any network setting that would induce any sort of lag or anything like that.
Yeah, it's my choice to try beta software; but to dismiss an issue on a beta bug report forum out of hand is in poor taste towards your beta testers, in my opinion.
